Dressing the church for the season is fun. We even have sustenance.
I've been there a few times..Enjoyed it very much.
Thank you so very much for your congenial welcome to your wonderful church during the recent holidays, Rev. Jordan! Thank you, too, for sharing your enthusiasm for Central's terrific butterfly garden, too! Hopefully, you will visit the Bay Area and grace us with a visit to Sonoma. We'll be happy to welcome you and treat you to lunch in our butterfly garden at The First Congregational Church, Sonoma!

A couple of the ladies were admiring my jewelry this past Sunday at church. My sister made the earrings, here's her page. She's retired and does this as a hobby and to make some spending money. She'll ship to DFW or anywhere: https://www.facebook.com/aubreyrose.jewels
Asking for prayers and for sharing of this Go Fund Me campaign. Truly appreciate help in getting the word out!

Together we love and learn, pray and praise! ALL are invited to join us every Sunday at 11am!

We are a medium-sized, open and affirming congregation of the United Church of Christ in the heart of Dallas, Texas. ( "Open and Affirming" means in our denomination that no matter your age, gender, race, ethnicity, romantic orientation, class, physical or mental abilities, or background -- no matter if you have a little faith or a lot -- in short, no matter who you are or where you are on life's journey, you are welcome here.) We're a church that doesn't ask you to check your intellect at the door; we say that although our faith is 2,000 years old, our thinking isn't. We work together for social justice and peace, and we value a diversity of opinions and theologies. We have fun and we're waiting for you to join us!

Mission: Central Congregational Church is a welcoming, inclusive family of faith. In a reflection of the teachings of Jesus Christ, we are open to and affirming of all God’s people. Our mission is to celebrate and continue to build Christ’s universal church. We achieve this by: -Celebrating the Gospel through diverse religious worship and music ministries; -Providing a safe, loving, nurturing environment where all people may explore, develop, and enrich their spiritual lives and faith; -Extending our ministry to the community and the world through active participation in mission; and, -Providing opportunities for spiritual, social, and religious education in order to prepare members to better fulfill our Christian calling

As part of our mission to give to those in our community: 80 children at Pershing will have new shoes this Christmas.

Celebrate Christmas with us.

Faith can bring comfort

Helping neighbors brings blessings.

There was a farmer who grew excellent quality corn. Every year he won the award for the best grown corn. One year a newspaper reporter interviewed him and learned something interesting about how he grew it. The reporter discovered that the farmer shared his seed corn with his neighbors. “How can you afford to share your best seed corn with your neighbors when they are entering corn in competition with yours each year?” the reporter asked.

“Why sir,” said the farmer, “Didn’t you know? The wind picks up pollen from the ripening corn and swirls it from field to field. If my neighbors grow inferior corn, cross-pollination will steadily degrade the quality of my corn. If I am to grow good corn, I must help my neighbors grow good corn.”

So is with our lives... Those who want to live meaningfully and well must help enrich the lives of others, for the value of a life is measured by the lives it touches. And those who choose to be happy must help others find happiness, for the welfare of each is bound up with the welfare of all...

Happy Memorial Day!

[05/20/19]   This day was tough for many. Regardless of one’s personal feelings, we are a family and when one of us hurts, we all hurt. So let’s be in quiet contemplation and prayer and seek a way forward, together. Feel free to share this message...more to come. ~ Pastor Ray

[05/19/19]   To all if those that came to our Music Sunday and stayed for the meeting following the service, your presence was appreciated. Often times, a difficult decision affects people in a variety of ways. This decision today is no different. As tonight ends and tomorrow comes, we hold firm to the teachinings in Phillipians 4:7 "7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Thank you for your words of love and concern for the future. We pray for guidance in the next steps as we face the possibilities together.

[05/17/19]   Please make sure to be present this Sunday as we determine the best future for Central Congregational United Church of Christ. Every vote is vitally important.

[03/15/19]   Our hearts break with the victims and families of Christchurch, New Zealand. There should be no place or tolerance for Islamophobia, white nationalism, or any other form of hate. God in your mercy, hear our prayers.

Thankful for our UCC foreparents!

On this day in 1841, the U.S. Supreme Court freed the Africans aboard the Amistad (“Friendship”). The Spanish slave ship, which landed on Long Island, New York, had been seized by the 54 Africans, who had been carried as cargo on board. At the time, the transportation of those enslaved to the U.S. was illegal so the ship owners lied and said the Africans had been born in Cuba. The Supreme Court ruled that the Africans had been illegally transported and held as slaves. In 1997, Steven Spielberg directed a movie about the event.

Happy International Women’s Day! #uccproud #churchoffirsts

Today we celebrate International Women's Day by remembering Antoinette Brown Blackwell, the first woman ordained by the United Church of Christ. The UCC was the first mainline denomination to ordain women, but we recognize how far society must still go to achieve a just world for all. How are you involved?

An Open Letter to the United Methodist Church

An open letter from our national church.

ucc.org The United Church of Christ, an Open and Affirming Communion of the Body of Christ, practices a belief in both a still-speaking God and an extravagant welcome.

For our United Methodist siblings in Christ, we hold you in prayer and loving care. Our hearts break with those who have felt the stinging pain of "church hurt," an experience that should never be encountered. Just know that whoever you are and wherever you are on life's journey, God loves and welcomes you...and so do we!

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayers.
