Youth Believing in Change (YBC)

Youth Believing in Change is a faith- based organization deeply rooted and grounded in the precepts and practices of Jesus Christ. We have been mandated to be fruitful, multiply and replenish the earth.

Pastor Vincent Gaddis Executive Director In 1994, Vince Gaddis began teaching violence prevention at Franklin Junior High School in Dallas. He also tutored children at the Vickery After-School House. The children responded to Vince’s teaching and tutoring. However, the community in which they lived had no programs that were conducive to the emotional, educational and spiritual development of children and youth. On June 6, 1995, a youth leadership council was formed. Eventually the group chose the name Youth Believing in Change (YBC). With no place to call home, YBC began to meet in various places ranging from the Vickery After-School House to pizza parlors, restaurants, empty apartments and the apartment of a parent who had children in YBC. In 1997, YBC began meeting in the Fellowship Bible Church building. During the summer of 1998, YBC hosted their first annual Summer Evangelism, Reading & Life Skills Training Program. As a follow-up to YBC’s Summer Program, an after-school homework program began in the fall of 1998. After assessing the needs of the children in the Vickery Community and the services being provided, Youth Believing in Change amended its mission statement to reflect those needs and services. There are more than 4,828 school-aged children in the Vickery community.

Mission: OUR MISSION- Developing servant-leaders through spiritual, educational and entrepreneurial training OUR VISION- To inspire, equip, train and empower youth to become servant-leaders and/or entrepreneurs. OUR PASSION- To nurture the “Divine Spark” in children and youth. OBJECTIVES: To spiritually nurture children by teaching them biblical principles and virtues basic to all faiths and cultures. To elevate the reading, writing and comprehension level of children. To give children the opportunity to express their creativity through inter- and intra-personal communication. To affirm children as significant members of society by encouraging them to perform community service To develop and implement educational and vocational programs that will give youth entry-level marketable skills by age 18. To match youth with mentors who will encourage them to set and pursue their goals. To establish a nurturing and learning net for children and youth that consists of individuals whose desires are to give them opportunities to excel.

For 25 years we’ve endured denial of funding from some foundations due to our emphasis on God and His word. As these denials progress, your prayers/support are needed. Schedule your gift today.

Example #3: from a partner foundation

“Vince, this is not new- we have observed this- even our peers have policies against funding organizations that overtly evangelize- and especially corporations in this politically correct environment. This shows that we are not necessarily a community or nation that understands the power of the gospel or faith in general in the development of humans.”

For 25 years we’ve endured denial of funding from some foundations due to our emphasis on God and His word. As these denials progress, your prayers/support are needed.

Example #2: The below words are guidelines from a foundation we desired to apply to.

"Church and religious organizations’ focused on evangelism are not eligible".

For 25 years we’ve endured denial of funding from some foundations due to our emphasis on God and His word. As these denials progress, your prayers/support are needed.

Example #1

“Hi, Vince, I am sorry to say that the (name deleted) Foundation believes that the religious aspect of Youth Believing in Change is too strong for the foundation. Since the foundation has supported (no name) which is equally religious, I hoped that they would focus on the great work you are doing for kids. They do see that, but the committee that picks and chooses between applicants decided against YBC. Perhaps you should wear the denial as a crown. Since apart from the Lord what human beings do is worthless, there is no such thing as having too much of the Lord, as long as it is voluntary on all sides.”

Statement on Racial Justice and Equality | Park Cities Baptist Church

ALL SOULS MATTER!!!
Romans 10:13

For “whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.”

Read the below manifesto by Park Cities Pastors
Personally knowing a number of the pastors listed in the below manifesto, I know this statement is well intended, has feet to it and understands and respects the role of the church to establish justice and equity. Isaiah prophesied the role of Jesus over government in (Isaiah 9:6b) When he stated...”and the government shall be upon its shoulders.”

pcbc.org As pastors who share a common union in Christ, and a common love for the people of the Park Cities, we are united in Him to serve our congregations with grace and truth. We seek to shepherd our people in the way of Jesus, and having been reconciled through His life, death, and resurrection, we now s...

Food insecurity is a major concern for the families of the children we serve within the Vickery Meadows community. Before COVID-19 we served 39,000 meals annually our out facility.

Please help us expand our reach. For just $30 you can help provide a family in need with a meal. Each meal kit includes 5lbs meat, 10lbs produce, a dozen eggs and can goods.

Please donate today. https://bit.ly/2WtOujM

[03/13/20]   In the midst of the National Emergency due to the COVID-19 pandemic please be informed that YBC’s response and operations are in sync with the schools we serve (RISD & DISD). To be specific, our students are out of school March 16-20th. Should those days be extended, YBC’s operations will respond accordingly.

Meals-Urgent Needs:
Given that YBC serves 28,000+ meals to children after school who normally receive free or reduced-priced meals at school, we are assessing the needs of the families we serve. In the event that they are in need of food or other essentials, we have an array of partners who are open and willing to meet their needs. In addition, YBC is equipped to transport families to those places if need be.

In the meantime, we remain vigilant, prayerful and hopeful.

Thanks Allyn Media for advocating for those who serve. As Dr. King said, “Everybody can be great. Because everybody can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t have to make your subject and verb agree to serve...You don’t have to know the second theory of thermodynamics in physics to serve. You only need a heart full of grace and a soul generated by love!! Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

“Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?’“ Dr. Martin Luther King told an audience in Montgomery, Alabama this in 1957. Today we reflect of Dr. King's legacy of service and consider how that legacy will inspire us in 2020 and over the next decade.

Thank you for helping these families have a very special Christmas. Many shared with us that this was the most blessed day ever!

Thank God for the opportunity to participate in the work of the Holy Spirit in concerting and discipling children. Judy Allen (pictured below) has been instrumental in many children’s salvation.
