Our origami dove project is in its final phase and we need your help! Can you join us with GLUE GUN in hand tomorrow afternoon, the 26th from 2-4? We’re adding a dollop of hot glue to 1,000 doves and securing chicken wire to each one.

And if you don’t know about our Origami Dove Project the last pic is our inspiration from the Les Columbes exhibit at the Washington National Cathedral. A layman’s copycat of this masterpiece will hang in our Narthex. Each dove was folded by a parishioner! Some made a handful, others dropped off a shopping bag full.

The dove represents the the Holy Spirit and is a symbol of hope and peace. #loveliveshere #ascensiondallas

This week was extra busy at Ascension! Tuesday was Food Pantry and we served 50+ families. After pantry, Hope Harbeck and Sally Kittles received word of an emergency placement of an Afghan family of 6 who was in an apartment with no food. They packed up bags of produce and dry goods and delivered them that afternoon.

On Wednesday we welcomed Suzanne Dulaney, our new Operations Manager to the office staff. We look forward to having her on board!

On Thursday we caught MaryLou Howell and Ann Gant in action printing and folding bulletins and making our special nametags for Blessing of the Backpacks this Sunday, the 22nd. And down the hall in the Narthex Nancy Johnson, Lynda Edwards and Catherine Pryor Miller came up with a plan for our origami dove installation. More to come on this soon.

Founded in 1958, the Episcopal Church of the Ascension is a parish of the Episcopal Diocese of Dallas, and therefore, part of the worldwide Anglican Communion. We worship according to the Book of Common Prayer. We are a Eucharistically centered body (meaning that our primary service of worship is the Holy Eucharist or the Lord's Supper - Communion).
