“Welcome to general conference! What a joy it is to be with you! You have been on my mind almost constantly during the past six months. I have prayed about you and for you. During recent weeks, I have prayed intently that this conference would be a time of revelation and reflection for all who seek those blessings. ...

"I invite you to listen for three things during this conference: pure truth, the pure doctrine of Christ, and pure revelation. Contrary to the doubts of some, there really is such a thing as right and wrong. There really is absolute truth—eternal truth. One of the plagues of our day is that too few people know where to turn for truth. I can assure you that what you will hear today and tomorrow constitutes pure truth.”

“A few months before April 2018 general conference, I got to a point in my life where I felt I wasn’t receiving enough guidance and revelation from the Lord. I felt I wasn’t hearing Him enough. There were several prayers I felt were unanswered, and I began to feel left alone by the Lord.

“I knew something had to be done, but I wasn’t sure what it was. Hence, I attended the conference hoping to listen to talks and music that [would] give answers to my prayers. I told the Lord I wanted Him to speak to me.

“The Lord indeed spoke to me on that day. I heard several talks about being guided by the Holy Ghost as well as President Nelson’s talk on ‘Revelation for the Church, Revelation for Our Lives,’ and I felt the messages were directly to me.

“He said, ‘Nothing opens the heavens quite like the combination of increased purity, exact obedience, earnest seeking, daily feasting on the words of Christ in the Book of Mormon, and regular time committed to temple and family history work.’

“And I knew for sure that what he said is true. Through general conference, the Lord directed me in the most clear and direct way so that I could recognize it as ‘my message’ from the Lord.” —Priscilla #HearHim

“My best memory of general conference was the very first time I watched it with my family in April 2017.

We had been looking into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for a few months and taking lessons from our local sister missionaries. These two very special missionaries made us feel so cared for and loved. Our boys also loved their presence and looked forward to our lessons with them.

They invited us to watch conference for the first time, but we had planned to go on a weekend getaway with our kids instead; however, God had other plans for our family. A few days before our trip, all four of us came down with strep throat and so we stayed home and decided to give general conference a try.

Our missionaries were so kind to bring coloring sheets, activities, and little Book of Mormon figurines for our boys. Their kindness is something I will never forget. While we sat there watching with open hearts and open minds, we were filled with so much emotion and happiness. There were several talks that I truly felt were written just for me.

The spirit and peace that filled our home was also something I will forever remember. My husband and I looked at each other and instantly knew what the other was thinking. With tears in my eyes, I said to him, “I want to be baptized,” to which he replied, “Let’s do it!” We were baptized as members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints a few weeks later on April 29, 2017.” —Natalie #HearHim

First Presidency Asks Members to Wear Face Masks in Temples

Dear Brothers and Sisters:
We are grateful that in recent months, some level of ordinance work has resumed in every temple. Our desire is to keep temples open.

As cases of COVID-19 increase in many areas, we want to do everything possible to allow temples to remain open. Therefore, effective immediately, all temple patrons and workers are asked to wear face masks at all times while in the temple. These safety protocols are temporary, based on COVID-19 conditions, and will be rescinded as soon as circumstances permit.

Our urging Church members to be vaccinated and to protect themselves and others from the spread of disease has precedent. Prior First Presidencies shared similar messages in 1900 about smallpox and in 1957 regarding polio. Please do all you can to protect yourself and others so the work of the Lord on both sides of the veil can move forward.

Sincerely yours,
Russell M. Nelson
Dallin H. Oaks
Henry B. Eyring

From coast to coast, tens of thousands of Latter-day Saints worked side by side with tens of thousands more to strengthen America and pay tribute on the 20th anniversary of the tragic attacks on U.S. soil on September 11, 2001.

“All of us remember what we were doing on 9/11,” said Sharon Eubank, President of Latter-day Saint Charities, the humanitarian arm of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. "When I didn’t qualify for the finals in the most recent Olympic games, I fell to my knees. I couldn’t have waited through the COVID-19 postponement, been an alternate more than four times, and worked through multiple injuries just to have it all end now. I was devastated. It didn’t feel fair. I was still excited for my teammates, so I prayed for understanding and peace. I felt it almost immediately, even though this huge part of my life was over—or at least I thought it was. As I began to pack my bags, a voice kept telling me it was still my time and things would be okay. I pushed it back, thinking it was false hope, but the voice kept saying, 'It isn’t time to leave. Don’t pack yet.' I listened and waited. And then I got a phone call: my teammate wouldn’t be competing, and I would be taking her spot.

"I’ll never forget taking the floor for the last time. I reflected on the journey to get there, the ups and downs. They had prepared me for this. Without the challenges of the past, I wouldn’t have been able to get there. I needed that refinement. As incredible as it was to get the silver medal, I knew that wasn’t the only goal. I felt an overwhelming impression that I went through all those trials to be a stronger and better example of Jesus Christ. The comfort, courage, and motivation to get up and try again was always from Him. Knowing that I am a daughter of heavenly parents continues to motivate me to never give up and always try my best, no matter the odds. You never know when you will called upon."—MyKayla

The Church Urges More Action to Limit the Spread of COVID-19

The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints sent the following message today to Church members around the world:

Dear Brothers and Sisters:

We find ourselves fighting a war against the ravages of COVID-19 and its variants, an unrelenting pandemic. We want to do all we can to limit the spread of these viruses. We know that protection from the diseases they cause can only be achieved by immunizing a very high percentage of the population.

To limit exposure to these viruses, we urge the use of face masks in public meetings whenever social distancing is not possible. To provide personal protection from such severe infections, we urge individuals to be vaccinated. Available vaccines have proven to be both safe and effective.

We can win this war if everyone will follow the wise and thoughtful recommendations of medical experts and government leaders. Please know of our sincere love and great concern for all of God’s children.
