St Charles Borromeo Church

Many of you have received word about the recent announcement of the Bishop about the cancellation of Masses. To expand that message, I am providing the following. Please feel free to pass this information to others.

All public masses are cancelled through EASTER.

RCIA individuals will be received into the Church at a later date - there is a Rite to do this.

Most weddings will be cancelled unless the bride and groom wish to only have ten or less people at the ceremony.

Funerals will be limited to immediate family only.

Baptisms will have only immediate family only.

Anointing of the sick is still available, by appointment.

Church buildings will remain unlocked for private prayer.

Communal penance sessions are cancelled. The priests are to hold the scheduled confessions times available and this will be expanded if necessary.

All other parish activities are cancelled.

The faithful are reminded to the support every parish needs to operate and the faithful are asked to continue their financial support.

Hopefully this helps. Please feel free to spread this information.

The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity - Sunday, June 7th, 2020

[06/03/20]   Please join Bishop Paprocki in a Rosary for Peace and Respect for Life today at Noon. This will be broadcast live at and on the diocesan page.

[06/02/20]   Patient People of St. Charles,

Bishop Paprocki asks us to resume the public celebration of mass beginning June 6 and 7.

However, the bishop's dispensation from the obligation remains in effect.
We are not obligated to be present for the celebration of mass if there is a concern for one's health or risk of exposure.
The bishop will advise us when our obligation will resume.

This return to public celebration will be a gradual process. We are allowed 25% capacity at mass during this initial stage.
We will resume our usual mass schedule for this time of year :
5:00 Saturday & 8:30 Sunday at St. Charles and 11:00 Sunday at Newman chapel.

I ask you to be understanding during this time of transition as we will not be able to accommodate everyone at every mass.
We will follow the guidelines provided us by the diocesan leadership as well as the direction of a parish response team.

*I ask that all people who come to mass wear a mask*

I want to recognize and thank Michael Kuznicki for all his efforts to provide live-streaming for our parish.
The continuation of live-streaming is yet to be determined.

I thank the people of the parish for their patience and understanding as well as for all your continued support.
We will be sure to inform you of any developments in the weeks to come.

Gratefully, Fr. Braden

Should anyone have questions, please call the office.

[05/28/20]   Reception of the Blessed Sacrament

This Friday will conclude our two-week period of offering the sacrament of Reconciliation in preparation for receiving the Blessed Sacrament.

This Sunday we will receive into full union with the Church our RCIA candidates, both at St. Charles and students at St. Philip Chapel.

After the reception of our RCIA candidates we will distribute Holy Communion to the people of the parish. We will offer at both St. Charles and St. Philip Chapel.

St. Charles: 10:00-11:00

St. Philip Chapel: 12-30-1:30

These times are out of consideration for the RCIA candidates being received. We will adjust the schedule in the coming weeks.

In observing measures to keep socially distant we offer these directions for those coming to receive Holy Communion:

-Wear a mask
-Keep 6 feet apart
-Enter through Moriarty Hall where you will be directed into the Church. Please enter the double glass doors in the center of Moriarty Hall. These doors will be open and are for ENTRANCE ONLY.
-Exit through the front NORTH doors of the Church. These doors are for EXIT ONLY.

Should anyone with mobility issues wish to come for the reception of the Blessed Sacrament, please phone the office by Friday so that we can make arrangements to accommodate you.

This is a temporary model until we are able to celebrate mass publicly again. The bishop will inform us when that will happen.

Please pray for our RCIA candidates as well as our parish as we move toward public celebration as a community.

-Fr. Braden
