Many of you have received word about the recent announcement of the Bishop about the cancellation of Masses. To expand that message, I am providing the following. Please feel free to pass this information to others.

All public masses are cancelled through EASTER.

RCIA individuals will be received into the Church at a later date - there is a Rite to do this.

Most weddings will be cancelled unless the bride and groom wish to only have ten or less people at the ceremony.

Funerals will be limited to immediate family only.

Baptisms will have only immediate family only.

Anointing of the sick is still available, by appointment.

Church buildings will remain unlocked for private prayer.

Communal penance sessions are cancelled. The priests are to hold the scheduled confessions times available and this will be expanded if necessary.

All other parish activities are cancelled.

The faithful are reminded to the support every parish needs to operate and the faithful are asked to continue their financial support.

Hopefully this helps. Please feel free to spread this information.

Thank you for a very successful pancake breakfast. With our wonderful parish support the Faith Formation collected around $850.00.

Thank you to Raymond Kuznicki for donating the pancake mixes and Dairy Queen in Charleston for the strawberries.

This will go toward scholarships, material and needs as they come up.

The left over pancakes were split between the CFD and the Hedwig Haus.

[07/29/21]   Update for those that attend Newman Center:

“A quick update about masking from Newman: EIU has imposed a temporary masking revision which mandates everyone (both vaccinated and unvaccinated) to wear masks while indoors. As a faith community that serves EIU, the Newman Catholic Center will be following their guideline. So if you are attending Mass or make a visit to the Newman Center, please wear a mask. No exceptions. Thank you.”

From Kim, one of the chaperones this week: "This afternoon we were told by our resident not to work!! Just to relax and enjoy this beautiful serene place which is what is it meant for. For people to sit and enjoy their time and become closer to God we have a couple taking naps. One reading his bible and one in the chapel praying and I am relaxing on the front porch swing watching God water the grass!! Feeling very blessed to have had this experience!"
