Outpost 94 Jan 2017 Campout

It's been a while since I've used our Ranger FB Page. Apologies for not keeping it active. Last weekend we had a great trip to Mexia for our annual January campout. Each boy got to fish and bring home a free fishing rod. The weather was cold, but many of us brought "comforts of home" to keep us warm.

Palo Duro Campout 2015

This past weekend Outpost 94 made the trip to Palo Duro Canyon State Park near Amarillo, TX. We saw lots of wildlife, hiked and climbed the canyon walls, and ate lots of good food. The nights were cold, and the days were very pleasant. Everyone had an awesome time. Thanks to all the commanders who made this happen!

Outpost 94 recently went to Fort Parker State Park in Mexia for a weekend of some COLD camping! Friday night the temps dipped to 30 degrees and Saturday night it dipped to 40 degrees. The boys had a blast playing football, catching trout, and enjoying the outdoors. If you've never been to Fort Parker SP, it is a gem. The fishing clinic they put on was top notch, and each boy took home a free fishing rod and reel. Special thanks to the commanders who joined us.. Paul, Ty, and Kevin.

More Ranger Kid Day photos! Special thanks to Mike Essig, Kevin Roorda, Richard Goodwin, and Ty Walsworth for making this a great time for the boys!

The track is ready for the derby tonight!

2014 Backpack Trip - Ouachita National Forest

Last weekend we took 13 boys and 4 commanders to Oklahoma for a great time of hiking, building fires, exploring creeks, and eating bugs! Commander Ron Nelson led us on a night hike for about 1/2 a mile Friday night which was quite an experience for all. We ate well, slept not-so-well, and ended up getting soaked Sunday morning on the hike back. All-in-all, we had a great time. Thanks to Commander Ron, John Hines, John Matthews, and Brian Hare for all their hard work and dedication to these young men.

[03/19/14]   ** FUNDRAISER **
Our fundraiser deadline is this Sunday (3/23). Please have all of your money collected and turn in your order form to The Hub. Kelli and I will be out of town for JBQ, but I will collect everything from The Hub and we will process the order. --Important-- Make a copy of your order sheet for your own records before turning it in so you know who to distribute the kits to. Also, please put your son's name and grade level on the form so we can reward them for their hard work.

** BACKPACKING TRIP - 4th thru 8th grade **
Our annual backpacking trip for 4th grade and up is April 4-6. Commander Ron will be leading us into the wilderness again this year for a great time of enjoying the outdoors and putting to practice what we've learned about "Bear Grylls" camping. We will be handing out equipment to those joining us 3/26 and 4/2 during Rangers. Signup and information sheets will be distributed this week as well.

** POW WOW Signup - Available to all Grade Levels **
North Texas District Rangers Pow Wow is April 25th, but the deadline for signup is a little more than 1 week away. If your son sells 10 or more first aid kits, Pow Wow is free. Otherwise, the cost is $65. Pow Wow is the District's big annual campout with LOTS of activities for the boys. They get a Pow Wow patch, T-Shirt, and other items for going. It's something your sons will remember for a long time. If you have any questions, please feel free to talk to me on Wednesday.

I will have sign-ups available tomorrow night. I'll need sign-ups returned by 3/26 so we can get the paperwork and payment to the District office in time. Reply to this email if your son is going also so I can have an idea of who will be going.

[03/04/14]   Outpost 94! This month we are working to raise funds for our upcoming events. We are selling first aid kits. Grab a form and help support your outpost!

Winter Camp Jan 2014

Even though we had to leave the campout earlier than planned, the boys had a great time camping. The boys played football, fished, ate too much, and generally had a fun time. The campground is a nice place and we pretty much had it to ourselves. We will go here again.

[01/28/14]   Winter Campout is A GO! Please be at FLC Friday before 5pm so that everyone can be accounted for and situated.

[01/24/14]   We have approximately 22 people confirmed for the Winter Campout! One word of caution, though. The weather is looking "iffy" with pretty good chance of rain for Friday thru Sunday in the area. We will keep an eye on the forecast and make a determination on or before Monday. If we have to cancel, all funds will be refunded or credited to the next event. Have a good weekend!

[01/22/14]   We are extending the Winter campout deadline to tomorrow night (1/22). At this time the forecast has nighttime temperatures above freezing. So far, so good!
