Sojourn Church - Kingdom Kids

Providing spiritual growth opportunities for newborns to 3rd grade in age appropriate classes at Sojourn Church in Carrollton Tx.

Sojourn Church is committed to providing a spiritually rich environment where children can grow in their faith and deepen their relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. Children are a gift from the Lord. They are special to both you as parents and to us as a church. Our children’s ministry is designed to support parents in their responsibility for the spiritual nurture and growth of their children. Sojourn Church’s Children's Ministry is made up of dedicated workers and volunteers who love children and are committed to their spiritual well-being. We aim to provide a standard of excellence at every level of our Children’s Ministry. We understand the significance of partnering with the Lord as He prepares the next generation for the advancement of His Kingdom. We want the children to increase in their knowledge of the Bible, to walk in the fullness of the Holy Spirit, and to grow in Godly character. During all services, Kindergarten through 3rd grade students will meet in the Youth Room for Children’s Church. Preschool Children’s Church will be offered in the Adventure Zone for four year olds and five year olds who haven’t had their birthday by September 1. Children younger than Preschool Children’s Church will continue to promote to a new class the month after their birthday. Also, students in the 4th & 5th grade will attend Impact during the morning service. Students in the 6th grade attend The Vine, our student ministry, on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 p.m. We provide loving childcare for babies in our nursery. Toddler through Kindergarten children attend classes that teach stories from the Bible and introduce key characters from God’s Word. In addition to learning their favorite Bible stories, the children usually participate in a time of worship, a related craft, and a snack. All of our paid personnel and volunteers have been processed through a criminal background check and many have CPR and First Aid certification. We have high standards of ethics and practices to which we hold all staff. "Let the little children come unto me… for such is the Kingdom Of Heaven." ...Matthew 19:14 NKJ

Mission: Making Disciples That Make A Difference

Great news!! Childcare will be open for birth - 5 years Pre-K on Sunday!
Full update below:
Parents
We are excited to inform you that this Sunday, June 21, we will have childcare available for ages birth - 5 years. Kids Church and Impact will not be meeting at this time. As with most of the country, we are opening in phases and will continue to keep you informed as we progress.
Because we are limited in our workers, we will monitor the rooms and may need to limit the number of children in the rooms. We hope to be able to accommodate as many as possible.
As you can imagine, children don’t understand social distancing, and therefore it will be impossible for us to monitor their proximity to workers or other children. If you aren’t comfortable with your children being with other children in that capacity, we encourage your family to view the service in the Fellowship Hall, where we will offer closed circuit viewing.
Our health standards are being elevated and will continue until further notice. Children with fever, running noses or cough will be asked to stay home to recover. The Supervisor will have the discretion to ask a child to avoid the rooms if any of the symptoms are observed upon arrival.
We will continue to provide the weekly, online lessons for both Kingdom Kids (2 years - 3rd grade) and Impact Students (4th - 6th grade). New lessons air on Sundays at 9:45 AM CT on Kingdom Kids Facebook and Instagram, and the Sojourn YouTube Channel.
Jenna and I have missed seeing your kids each week, and we look forward to seeing each of you soon!
Blessings!

Sometimes kids “get” things right away and sometimes it takes days, or weeks, to sink in. Sowing the seeds of truth, there will be a harvest (Gal 6:9). What’s something your child has said recently that made you realize that seeds had not been planted in vain?

This week’s lesson was about Jesus and the Samaritan woman at the well in John 4. We see Jesus’ example of love and compassion with a woman He had never met, a woman who didn’t have a spotless reputation. As we choose to truly love our neighbors as ourselves, our children will follow our example (Proverbs 22:6).

We encourage you to spend time reading this powerful story in John 4 and ask the Holy Spirit what He wants to show you through it. Rewatch the lessons from Sunday “Jesus and the Samaritan Woman” on-demand on IGTV, Facebook and YouTube (link in bio).

Impact | Jesus and the Samaritan Woman | EP 3

Jesus tells a samaritan woman that He has living water- that she will never thirst again. Her encounter with Jesus brought her community to know Jesus. We can still receive that living water, today- it's the Holy Spirit living in us! How does the Holy Spirit make us never thirsty? Glad you asked...

God loves the world and the people He created!
The Father loves us so much that He gave up His Son, Jesus to die on the Cross for our sin.
Jesus loves us so much that He chose to die our death so that we could have the same relationship with God that He does.
The Holy Spirit loves us so much that He raised Jesus from the dead so that we can share in abundant life with Jesus! Now the Holy Spirit lives in us to help us be all that God created us to be!
Wow, God really is ♥️

When we parent from fear, it is hard for us to hear and parent with the Holy Spirit. Don’t parent out of fear, parent with the Holy Spirit! The enemy wants to steal, kill and destroy, but Jesus came so that we can live in abundant life right now (John 10:10). Decisions made out of fear will not prosper us or our kids.

The question is: are we going to let fear cripple us or cause us to lean into faith and trust God? Worry, anxiety, stress and fear can become so familiar that we don’t even recognize it. Being parents who are led by the Holy Spirit, allows us to operate with the advantage He gives us: insight into a child’s behavior, ideas and divine strategies for tough situations, heavenly perspective for uncharted circumstances and so much more. He’s our advocate!

Take a moment to reflect: How can I parent in faith not fear?

Kids Church | Jesus and Nicodemus | EP 9

In today’s story, we learn about a man named Nicodemus and his encounter with Jesus. Nicodemus wanted to earn his way into heaven. Jesus taught him that eternal life is not about following all of the rules, it’s about relationship with Jesus! With Jesus as our friend, the Holy Spirit helps us stand up for what is right, even if others don’t.

Impact | Jesus and Nicodemus | EP 2

Nicodemus was a man who thought he needed to follow all of the rules in order to be forgiven and have everlasting life with God. Jesus shared with him God’s big plan: relationship with Jesus is what saves us. Jesus already paid with His life on the cross for us to be reconciled with God, nothing we do, or don’t do, will change Jesus’ sacrifice for us!

Impact Kids | Jesus In Nazareth | EP 1

In this week's lesson, we are learning about Jesus' ministry on Earth. On a Sunday, Jesus went to the synagogue like everyone else. He surprised everyone there when He got up and read Scripture that the Prophet Isaiah had written many, many years ago about the Messiah who would fulfill all of God's promises to the jewish people. God always does what He promises, it just may not be in the way we expect. God sent His Son, Jesus, to heal people that were hurting. The Holy Spirit empowered Jesus to preach the gospel and heal people, and we can, too!
