First Baptist Church Hebron

To anyone searching for a church in or around Hebron Tx. There is not a more love, accepting, caring church around then FBCH. There couldn’t be. I visited there today and I felt as if I had been there my whole life. I made not only friends but, we were brothers and sisters in Christ as we are called to be. And when they brought out a meal to serve us, what a meal it was. If you are ever invited to one of their potlucks, DO NOT turn it down!!! Wow the food is out of this world good. I’m telling you this church is a home and a family to anyone who needs a loving home and a loving family of God. Thank you First Baptist Church of Hebron for your hospitality, your loving care, and your welcoming spirit. May God bless you and keep you always. pastor Jerry Morgan Center Point Baptist Church Weatherford Tx.

FBCH is a Bible-believing church founded in 1883

First Baptist Church Hebron is your small town church in the shadows of the big city. We're committed to Jesus Christ, His word, and loving one another. We'd love for you to join us this Sunday!

Mission: Our Purpose First Baptist Church of Hebron is a fellowship of believers whose purpose is to know God through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, to serve others unselfishly, and to develop fully devoted followers of Christ around the world. Our Mission We will advance the Kingdom of God by embracing the following five pillars of the Church: 1) Worship – the daily experience of responding to God and expressing a continuing, vibrant, and fulfilling relationship to Him. This should happen both individually and corporately. (Hebrews 10:24-25, Acts 2:46-47, Isaiah 6:1-8) 2) Fellowship – real relationships with real people for the purpose of living a real life of faith in Jesus Christ. (Acts 2:42, Philippians 2:1-2, Ecclesiastes 4:9-12, Proverbs 27:17) 3) Ministry – discovering, understanding, developing, and using the gifts God has placed inside each of us. (1 Corinthians 12, 1 Timothy 4:14, 2 Timothy 1:6) 4) Evangelism – our individual and church-wide efforts to spread the best news we have ever heard: “…God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” - Romans 5:8 (John 3:16, Acts 1:8, 1 Corinthians 9:19-22) 5) Discipleship – making progress toward greater spiritual depth and Christ-likeness no matter where each person is on his/her journey. (Matthew 28:18-20, Romans 8:29)

Our Story

First Baptist Hebron

You’ve probably driven by it hundreds of times. The little red brick church known as First Baptist Church (FBC) Hebron sits on the hill at Hebron Parkway near Marsh Ridge. However, don't let the size fool you; there is a rich history behind those walls, and the ninety-four, beautifully restored original stained-glass windows have a great story to tell.

Historically, the church dates back to 1883 where members gathered at a local school. According to church records. the current building wasn't constructed until 1918 after the original building was blown over by a cyclone. The rebuilding project was completed in 1920 and is approaching the 100 year landmark.

Appropriately, the congregation is already planning a year-long celebration entitled, "Enriching Lives For Over A Century," which will begin in 2019. In anticipation of this momentous celebration, and because of the need for repair, the church leadership presented members with the idea of restoring the stained-glass windows.

The process was extensive as each window had to be removed carefully by a knowledgeable contractor and then taken to a specialty stained glass artist to repair, replace, and re-lead each window. You see, the windows do tell a story; they contain the names of several pioneer families who started the church. In addition, they contain Biblical scenes which tell the rich history of the life of Jesus Christ. Thankfully, the entire $250,300 to complete the restoration was raised by church members, and late last year, the windows were all returned to their prominent places inside the church. Pastor Steve Smith loves that the windows have been restored in such a way that the lead used to repair them is visible throughout the broken areas of the glass. "It’s a reminder of what God does for us in our brokenness," said Steve. "He restores."

Steve and his wife Donna have been shepherding this congregation since 2014. Steve is the Executive Director at Hope For the Heart, the Biblical counseling ministry of June Hunt. Donna also serves as the tennis coach for Prestonwood Christian Academy, a position she has held for the past fifteen years. The Smiths both agree the church has a desire to make a lasting impact in the lives of their community.

They have several annual events for the community to enjoy: Spring Fling Carnival, Fall Fling, the Pumpkin Patch and the Christmas Eve Eve service. Last summer, FBC Hebron partnered with several Carrollton pastors to host a "Back the Blue" celebration where they honored police and firefighters from the Carrollton area. Local congressmen and the Mayor Pro Tem also attended, and Steve hopes to continue this event annually.

Magnificent Mondays is a fall event hosted by the Women's Ministry where invited speakers share personal life stories and strive to enrich the lives of women of all ages.

To learn more about the church, or perhaps visit, you can find additional information on their website at And while you are there, be sure to take in the grandeur and the stories of the stained-glass windows.
