Open Arms is a Christian child development center offering programs for infants through pre-K, full day kindergarten and after school care for k-5th.
Open Arms Christian Child Development Center is a not-for-profit ministry of Our Savior's Way Lutheran Church, providing a preschool program of the highest quality designed to meet the needs of families in our community. At Open Arms, each child is guided to develop to his/her potential in every aspect of life within the sheltering and nurturing relationships of Christian love. We operate our center assuming that each child is an individual and must be allowed to grow and learn at his/her own rate and to develop a healthy self-image. At Open Arms we will help each child to grow spiritually, emotionally, physically, socially, and intellectually. A preschool and/or childcare experience frequently represents the child's first separation from home. It is a first experience in learning that other adults can be helpful and loving. Children have much social learning to do. This is accomplished best in an atmosphere of love and concern for the needs of each child. Programs are planned to encourage and develop individual strengths and abilities, while helping your child to understand the value of cooperation and interaction with others. This is achieved through working, learning, playing, and sharing with other children as well as adults.
Mission: Our mission is to provide a nurturing and safe environment for the development of children and families, in the community, through a loving, Christ-centered, Bible-based child care and preschool.

In response to the coronavirus pandemic, an Employee Disaster Relief Program has been created to financially assist our Open Arms Child Development Center staff members who are out of work and currently ineligible for unemployment benefits. The purpose of this disaster relief program is to help care for God’s people and give our staff relief in a time of crisis. We have been encouraged by the many families who have reached out to offer financial support to our staff and this is another avenue to help those most impacted by COVID-19.
If you would like to make a tax-deductible contribution, you can easily contribute via cell phone by texting “OSWLC Give” to 77977 and selecting the COVID 19 Employee Disaster Relief Program from the options available. An independent committee of non-staff members has been created to review staff applications anonymously to determine the appropriate allocation of funds.
In John 13, Jesus commands “Just as I have loved you, you are also to love one another.” God loves us so well. During this time, we, as Christians, are called to be a light to the world and a city on a hill—let’s do everything we can to glorify God during this crisis.
If you have any questions, please reach out to any BOG or MMSLG member.

Barbara Yarbrough shared this yesterday. It's a great way to grow in faith at home while you're home with the kids.
Our Savior's Way Lutheran Church Grace Place started a challenge last month to encourage our Grace Place families and the rest of the Our Savior's Way community to participate in '20 verses for 2020' from Seeds Family Worship.
Here is a link to the Seeds team on how easy it is to use these videos as a time to center your family on Christ. If you are not already in the habit of a family devotional time, this resource is a god start. When we are ready to get back to our usual routines, you just might have a new one one added! Music is not only enjoyable but also a powerful tool for learning. Already one of our GP kids heard the spoken verse from Romans and recognized that she knew it from learning the verse in song.
We have made it easy for you to have church at home as a family with kids of all ages. We set up everything so you have a memory verse, song, video and devot...

Dear Open Arms Families,
As the COVID-19 situation remains ever-changing, the health and well-being of our children, families, and teachers has remained our top priority. Our goal has been to continue to offer essential services to those families who depend on us. At this time, we have made the difficult decision to close next week, March 23rd to March 27th. We will continue to share updates and stay connected through email.
Your children are truly the heart of everything we do. All of us at Open Arms have missed seeing your children this week and will continue to miss them.
Thank you so much for all your support and the kind words that many of you have expressed to us this week. In this fearful time, it is so important to be strong in our faith in God. “Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9

Reading: Psalm 36:7-10
Prayer: Father, caught in the middle of the storm, we so quickly forget the calm that was and are unable to think about the calm that will come. Our world feels like it’s upside-down, topsy-turvy. Our footing falters and we fall into despair. Let us never forget, never question, never doubt Your steadfast love, O God, lest we, like Peter (cf. Matthew 14:23-36), take our eyes off of Jesus and begin to sink in the bellowing waves. Amen.
There are lots of news items on how to deal with the coronavirus from physical and mental focus. But here is a good read on how to bring our Lord into the conversations with your family and friends.
seedsfamilyworship.com My teenage son and I were looking forward to the weekend. It was a big four-day-long swim meet at the University of Missouri. We set a trap and that pesky Leprechaun tricked us again. He left the classroom a mess! Oh well. Better luck next year! ☘️
