LSSNCA is honored to recognize JustServe.org as our October Hero of the Month. Our partnership with JustServe, along with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Ox Road, Virginia), was instrumental in kicking off our donation storage and distribution as we saw a rapid influx of incoming refugees.

“Without JustServe sending a team of professional volunteers to our offices 7 hours a day, six days a week, and the Church of Latter-day Saints providing 100,000 square feet of donated storage space, we would not have been able to accept the level of donations we’ve received, which allow Afghan Allies who are arriving with nothing but the clothes on their back the items they need to set up their new homes,” said LSSNCA CEO Kristyn Peck.

Yesterday, Michael Brady, President of the Baltimore Maryland Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, presented the title to a 20’ long, Freightliner Refrigerated Box Truck at the Langston Hughes Community, Business and Resource Center. This gift was donated “as a tribute to the legacy of George Mitchell [LHC’s founder] and out of a shared love and devotion to the precious lives being served by the Langston Hughes Community Center,” said Brady. The truck will be stocked with food, thus making its first official drive one that immediately benefits the surrounding community.
