We are excited to announce that the Washington DC Latter-day Saint Temple will be hosting its 42nd annual, DRIVE-THRU ONLY Festival of Lights this Christmas season! Temple grounds will glow with over 400,000 lights, December 11th through December 28th, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. nightly. Visitors will be invited to view the lights from the comfort, and safety, of their cars. Like the Christmas season, the temple reminds us that service to our fellow beings is the best way to demonstrate our love of God and #LightTheWorld, even in times of struggle or strife. We hope this decades-old, beloved tradition serves as a gift of friendship and peace to our neighbors and friends. We look forward to welcoming everyone to the Temple Open House in 2021 once dates are announced! Visit and to learn more. #DCTempleLights

Honor to the soldier and sailor everywhere, who bravely bears his country’s cause. Honor, also, to the citizen who cares for his brother in the field and serves, as he best can, the same cause.

Yesterday, Michael Brady, President of the Baltimore Maryland Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, presented the title to a 20’ long, Freightliner Refrigerated Box Truck at the Langston Hughes Community, Business and Resource Center. This gift was donated “as a tribute to the legacy of George Mitchell [LHC’s founder] and out of a shared love and devotion to the precious lives being served by the Langston Hughes Community Center,” said Brady. The truck will be stocked with food, thus making its first official drive one that immediately benefits the surrounding community. First Presidency Temporarily Closes All Temples The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints sent the following letter about temple closures on March 25, 2020, to Latter-day Saints everywhere.

Russell M. Nelson

My dear friends, our Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ know us, love us, and are watching over us. Of that we can be certain.

These unique challenges will pass in due time. I remain optimistic for the future. I know the great and marvelous blessings that God has in store for those who love Him and serve Him. I see evidence of His hand in this holy work in so many ways.

So, during these uncertain times, be comforted by this promise from the Savior. He said, “I the Lord am bound when ye do what I say.” I promise you that joy is always within the reach of everyone who will hear Him and obey His laws.

I love you. I pray for you. And I promise that you will receive comfort and peace as you continue to hear Him.
