Happy Feast of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary!

Today, the Church celebrates Mary as an infant being presented to God in the temple, in accord with Jewish custom. Let the Presentation of Mary remind us of the importance of a faithful dedication to God. Let us lean deeper into depending on God’s providence to help us become Saints.

When the Gabriel Project and pregnancy help organizations work together, it is such a great blessing!

The Gabriel Project at St Theresa Catholic Church in Ashburn has been working with our two local Pregnancy Resource Centers, Mosaic and Birthright, to provide ongoing support to our Gabriel Project Moms.

Each year, St Theresa has a couple of Fundraisers to help support the needs of these PRCs. At the same time, whenever we have a Gabriel Project Mom who needs maternity clothes, baby clothing, and diapers /wipes, they are encouraged to get established at one of these two centers for ongoing support. Each center offers some different things to the Moms. Mosaic offers Sonograms, Counseling, Parenting classes, and some immediate Material Goods for baby. Birthright offers Pregnancy Tests, ongoing Material Goods, Emotional Support and they give referrals for other local services.

We are so thankful for the working relationship we have with each of these Pregnancy Resource Centers and hope that you will join us in helping to support them through our "Gabriel Project Virtual PRC Baby Shower". Please see the attached Flyer to see how you can help! Contact me if you have any question.

God Bless,

Today is the Eighth Annual National Day of Remembrance for Aborted Children. This beautiful artwork by Michael Corsini may help brings us peace, as we remember that the Lord God is the Author of Life and we now entrust these precious souls into His care.

The first Day of Remembrance was observed in September 2013, with more than a hundred memorial services held all over the country. Today 193 memorial services were scheduled for this year's Day of Remembrance, Saturday, September 12, to commemorate the more than 60 million innocent unborn children who have lost their lives to legal abortion since 1973, and to remind our society of the humanity of the unborn child.

During these hard times, let's remember that today is a day of hope. Annunciation Day marks the incarnation of Jesus Christ. We are thankful for today and the rest of the days that will come.

O Blessed Mother, you received the good news of the incarnation of Christ, your Son, with faith and trust. Grant your protection to all pregnant mothers facing difficulties.

Guide us as we strive to make our parish communities places of welcome and assistance for mothers in need. Help us become instruments of God’s love and compassion.

Mary, Mother of the Church, graciously help us build a culture of life and a civilization of love, together with all people of good will, to the praise and glory of God, the Creator and lover of life. Amen.

Today is the Feast of St. Joseph. Asking prayers for all husbands and fathers that they may find courage and strength to follow St. Joseph's holy example as the guardian of families.

Blessed Joseph, husband of Mary,
be with us this day.
You protected and cherished the Virgin;
loving the Child Jesus as your Son,
you rescued Him from the danger of death.
Defend the Church,
the household of God,
purchased by the Blood of Christ.

Guardian of the Holy Family,
be with us in our trials.
May your prayers obtain for us
the strength to flee from error
and wrestle with the powers of corruption
so that in life we may grow in holiness
and in death rejoice in the crown of victory.

JOIN US! as we peacefully advocate for the unborn and to pray for all to be instilled with the passion for life.

In "The Gospel of Life" (Evangelium vitae), Pope John Paul II applauds the daily heroism of mothers who selflessly devote themselves to their children. This modern-day saint also highlights the unfortunate reality that “these heroic women do not always find support in the world around them.” He goes on to say, “On the contrary, the cultural models frequently promoted and broadcast by the media do not encourage motherhood. In the name of progress and modernity the values of fidelity, chastity, sacrifice, to which a host of Christian wives and mothers have borne and continue to bear outstanding witness, are presented as obsolete” (EV 86).

A culture that fails to truly value motherhood naturally becomes hostile to the gift of new life. When the Church compassionately serves mothers, it witnesses to the beauty of human life. There is a great need for real, tangible assistance for expectant mothers. Christ calls us to serve those most alone and in need. In a world that often turns it back on mothers who sacrifice so much of themselves, may we, the Church’s members, rise to help mothers in need of assistance and support.

Welcome Sweet Dennis, May our Lord look down upon you from Heaven above and always touch you with His Love!

Thousands came out today to March for Life again, this time in Richmond, Virginia. Despite less than ideal weather conditions — families, parishes, teens, people of all ages, races and religions came together as one family to support and defend those who cannot defend themselves. Bishop Burbidge opened the rally in prayer and encouraged the crowds and legislators gathered to uphold and defend the dignity of human life in the Commonwealth. We are the pro-life generation! @ Richmond, Virginia
