Arcola United Methodist Church

Wonderful Sermon and Choir! Thank you!💜
Thank you Arcola United Methodist Church for reminding us of the positive things in the midst of the Pandemic. Miss you!
I attended the 4 & 8 o'clock Christmas Eve Services, as a visitor. From the music to Pastor Chris' message it was the most moving and inspirational service I have attended in many a year. Thank You.
Pastor Chris: your sermon from Wednesday's advent service came to mind when I saw this. Thank you for reminding all of us to be the light for others and to find the light when the world feels dark.
From a friends page. Her daughter is in Urgent need. I know many of you donate blood for the regular blood drives. Maybe you’ll be the match this little girl needs! 🙏 Thank You!
Feeling family and support
To the dozens of people who poured your heart and soul into Joseph-THANK YOU! The show was nothing short of amazing! The sets, lighting, music, acting, costumes, makeup, programs were all amazing. What a talented community we are part of. God bless you all and bravo!
Due to the LCPS 2 hour delay today, the Tuesday morning Women's study will not meet this morning. Have a blessed day and see you next week.
Tickets just went on sale for the musical "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat"!
Tuesday AM Women's Bible Study Update: I sent an email last night to those on the registration list, but just realized there might be some of you who had not registered yet who were planning to come. We are canceling today's first meeting. I know that with the school delay we would have many who would be running late or unable to attend. I really wanted to have the best chance for everyone to attend this first meeting, so we will start on January 22nd. Thanks and sorry I'm late to post here!
The rain didn’t dampen the mood last night - the kids at Shreveport Ridge had lots of fun painting and decorating their pumpkins!
The rain on Friday didn’t dampen the mood last night. The kids at Shreveport Ridge had a blast painting and decorating their pumpkins for Halloween!

Overview: Psalms

Our new sermon series, "Psalms: A Light Unto My Path" begins on Sunday! Now is a great time to get acquainted with this book of the Bible, through daily reading, and this great video introduction.

Watch our overview video on the book of Psalms, which breaks down the literary design of the book and its flow of thought. The book of Psalms has been design...

"Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path." - Psalm 119:105

Psalms are the part of the Bible Jesus quotes most often and it is the Psalms that give voice to the full range of life, from joy to sorrow, from laments to deep trust, from wisdom to peace. Sunday, May 3, we begin a sermon series on the Psalms, typically taking a few each Sunday and Wednesday to dive into, use for worship, and generally enjoy.

Looking forward to having you for worship throughout May and June!

How long have you been acting/singing/performing?

My first choral singing began at age eight with a Methodist children's choir for which my mother was accompanist. I continued singing in choirs through high school and in college joined the William and Mary Choir and Botetourt Chamber singers.

He Arose Arcola Church Virtual Choir

Let's give another round of applause and demand an encore for all the singers and behind-the-scenes work that went into the amazing virtual choir performance of "He Arose" from Easter Sunday! 👏👏👏

Reminder to join us for Mid-Week Worship this morning at 11:30am as Pastor Chris begins telling Resurrection stories. View the Livestream here and at

First attempt at Virtual Choir. Debuted Easter 2020.

“I simply argue that the cross be raised again,
at the centre of the marketplace
as well as on the steeple of the church.
I am recovering the claim that
Jesus was not crucified
in a cathedral between two candles
but on a cross between two thieves;
on a town garbage heap;
at a crossroad of politics so cosmopolitan
that they had to write His title
in Hebrew and in Latin and in Greek …
and at the kind of place
where cynics talk smut,
and thieves curse, and soldiers gamble.
Because that is where He died,
And that is what He died about.
And that is where Christ’s own ought to be,
And that is what church people ought to be about.”

― George MacLeod, quoted in Pastor Chris's Easter sermon

He is risen indeed!

Happy Easter ✝️💒❤️
