Please join us for Sunday School at 10 a.m. and Worship at 11 a.m.
Operating as usual
Allerton United Presbyterian Church Announcement:
In response to the Governor's proclamation in asking that indoor gatherings remain under 15 people and after discussion and consideration of our congregation/session members - we will return to ONLINE SERVICE ONLY - Beginning this Sunday, November 22nd thru December 6th.
We will re-evaluate our local situation as well as the Governor's recommendation at that time.
While we are aware that the most recent proclamation excludes religious organization, we feel this is the right thing for us to do at this time - other churches may not do the same and we respect that.
Our Men's and Women's Bible Study Groups will continue to meet as they are small groups and easily able to be socially distance.
I will post an online video by 8 am on Sunday morning (very possibly earlier) and tag church members. I will also email/text the link to anyone who does not have social media as I have in the past. If you know of someone who needs that link sent to them please let me know and I will add them to our list.
This is not an ideal situation - no one on our board WANTS to have virtual services only - but we also know that our health care professionals need us to do our part.
Pray for our community, Pray for our churches, Pray for our leaders, Pray for our healthcare workers, Pray for our families, Pray........
ATTENTION CHURCH FRIENDS❤
With the outbreak in COVID cases locally, we are requesting everyone to wear masks to worship service -beginning this Sunday. Masks will be available to anyone who does not have one. It is important that we take care of each other! Please pray for our community!
Presbyterian Friends - We had hoped to begin Sunday School this week. However, after our discussion this evening we have decided it is best to wait.
We will continue to have ongoing discussions and are committed to doing what is best for our church and community.
Worship Service continues to be at 11:00. See you there!
I tagged a few of you - please share with others as you can. If you have specific questions please feel free to call me!
⛪️ United Presbyterian Church Update:
We will have in-person worship services this week. There will be NO Sunday School. Worship only - beginning at 11:00! It’s Pentecost! Wear your Reds, Oranges, and Yellow! 🔥
Masks are not required but certainly can be worn by choice. We will have seating in the East Room in order to spread out a little further. We just ask that people observe social distancing the best you can!
We are excited to be back in worship together - however, if you are not yet comfortable, we understand and will be anxious for your return! Services will be recorded and posted for a few more weeks. 🎤
See ya on Sunday! 👋
United Presbyterian Church Update: With the recent news of the Corona Virus officially reaching Wayne County - we have made the decision that we will NOT open for church this Sunday. Our overwhelming concern is the health of our church members and our community. As much as we would like to meet again, our session and myself realize the responsible thing to do is to wait.
Our plan at this time is to reassess in a couple of weeks. This gives us time to see how and if the virus spreads in our community, consider how things look in our state, as well as better prepare for our return. In the meantime, online messages will still continue to be posted on Sunday mornings.
I would ask you to keep the person who has contracted the virus, as well as their family in your prayers.
Wash your hands, observe social distancing, stay home when possible, and Pray!
Church members - if you would like to be added to the text update group please let me know. Many of you already signed up last fall. Otherwise, please continue to check my Facebook or the church Facebook for updates!
Please contact me at 641-344-2195 if you have any questions!
United Presbyterian Church Announcement:
We WILL be open for worship service this Sunday at 11:00 We will me making several accommodations and adjustments to our service in order to comply with social distancing regulations.
The biggest change is that we WILL NOT have Sunday School. This is ABSOLUTELY not a permanent change, but one we feel is necessary in order to keep our families the safest.
We do feel like we have good ventilation in our sanctuary, especially with the high ceilings and we will also be opening some windows to allow air flow as well as propping the doors open so that you do not have to touch the door handles - with this in mind, you may want to wear a light jacket or sweater.
We are opening up more seating in the East Room so that people can spread out. Plans for choir, children sermons, and offering collection are being adjusted as well.
We will have hand sanitizer, Clorox wipes, and other disinfectant available for use.
Everyone's health is our biggest concern - if you do not feel comfortable in returning to worship, please know that we understand this and we will look forward to your return in the coming weeks!
If anyone has questions or concerns, please message me or call me at 641-344-2195
[04/12/20] Presbyterian Churc: Due to further restrictions issued by the state this week - we will NOT not be serving communion this Sunday as outlined in your newsletter.
Allerton Presbyterian Palm Sunday Announcement:
For the past 40ish years the Presbyterian church and friends have had a Palm Sunday procession to honor the Triumphal Entry of Jesus into Jerusalem - and we don't want to give that up completely.
If you are interested in participating in our procession here is our plan for this year: (this is not only for Presbyterians - we ALL want to celebrate Jesus, PLEASE JOIN US!)
We will meet at the Allerton Presbyterian Church at 10:15 in the PARKING LOT. Please DO NOT get out of your vehicles - I will bring a palm branch to your car.
At 10:30 - we will have a CAR procession around the town of Allerton (we will add a few blocks to the normal route!)
In order for this to be safe for our members and our community it will be imperative that after the pruiocession we do not "gather" and visit! (Believe me, I want to just as badly as you!)
It is supposed to be nice that morning - so you can roll down your windows, wave your palm branch, honk your horn, and shout your Hosannas!
Ron Wallace and Kylie Kent - please let your congregations know too! This has been a long standing tradition with our community churches!
I tagged a few, but certainly not all - please Share!
From Pastor Melanie ~
Presbyterian Friends: Last night our session voted to cancel our worship services until further notice. This decision was not made lightly but with thoughtful prayer and discussion. We will be in contact with you as soon as restrictions are lifted and we can meet again. May we all remain in prayer for our community and world. Stay healthy friends. God Bless.
