Per my decision with Pastor Diane, I would like permission to share her sermon on the Allerton UMC page. If the video does not appear, then I may have to ask to be given a role on the page, like Editor or a role with video sharing levels.

We will be studying the book of Ruth tomorrow.

[01/06/18]   Today is January 6th Epipthany day. This is the day that tradition says the wise man arrived in Bethleham to celebrate the birth of our savior.

We will begin our study of The Bible reading it through in a year. Here is some background as we begin. The Bible was written by God through 40 some people. It is believed that Moses wrote the 1st five books. The Old Testament has 39 books divided into 4 sections.

the 1st section is the legal or the law section. that is Genesis through Dueteronomy.

The 2nd section is the Historical, that is Joshua through Esther

the 3rd section is the poetical, that is Job through Songs of Songs.

The 4th section is to Prophetical, that is Isaiah through Malachi.

We begin with Genesis. It is the entire basis or foundation of The Bible and our faith. DIsprove creation and the entire bible would fall. Believe this or believe none of it.

Genesis has 2 sections chapter 1 through 11 cover a period of 1000 years it is about the beginning of the human race. It covers the creation, the fall, the flood and the starting over.

Chapters 12 thru 50 is a period of 300 years. It is a story of the dealing with the beginning of the Hebrew race, the Jews. This period focuses on 4 people, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Joseph. At the end of Genesis things are not pretty. They are in bondage and in need of a Deliverer.

Let's pretend you are in a play. You have a costume. You have a part. You have a place to stand on the stage, but you don't know the script. You don't know where it began or where is going. This is what the study is about, to know our part in the script. We all have a part. How sad to not know what it is. What is about. So let's begin this adventure in a quest to know where we came from and where we are going!

We here at the Allerton Methodist church would like to invite anyone who would like to join us in reading Max Lucado's book THE STORY which is the Bible written as one continuing story. You can purchase your own copy on the internet for $5. There are 31 chapters. We will read one chapter a week. There are questions to provoke thought and discussion at the end of each chapter. We will post some of our thoughts here and would love to hear yours. The first chapter covers Creation, Noah and the flood, and Abram.
