Plant a Tamarisk Tree

This new year, consider planting a personal tamarisk tree in faith for the future. Abraham planted a tamarisk tree in Beersheba and called there on the name of the Lord, the Everlasting God. -Genesis 21:33 Too many times we quickly read over passages of Scripture and miss the significant details. Abraham planted a tamarisk tree. Planting a tamarisk tree was a symbol of the signifi...

Guiding Star After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem and asked, “Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.” -Matthew 2:1-2 The star is a significant symbol during the ...

Do Not Be Afraid And the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.” -Luke 1:30 Do not be afraid. When God is doing a mighty work in the midst of humanity, He often reassures us with these words. I found more than 150 instances in the Bible where these words are spoken to God....

Sunday Sermon 12/13/20 Pastor Dennis' sermon for 12/13/2020Sermon only!

Not Like Man God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it? -Numbers 23:19 At this time of year, we focus heavily on God becoming man for us. But how encouraging to know that even though God be...

Let Your Shame Birth a Blessing When His mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit. And her husband Joseph, being a just man and unwilling to put her to public shame, resolved to divorce her quietly. But as he considered these things, behold an angel of....

Giving Thanks When it Hurts Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. -1 Thessalonians 5:18 Giving thanks. It is something we love to do when all is going well. When we celebrate holidays and good times. When we’re with the people who are most important to us. When we feel thankfu...

Eat the Mystery and Live When the Israelites saw it, they said to each other, “What is it?” For they did not know what it was. Moses said to them, “It is the bread the Lord has given you to eat. -Exodus 16:15 The Hebrew word for manna literally means “what is it.” This is what the Israelites asked themselves when ...

Established Steps See, I am sending an angel ahead of you to guard you along the way and to bring you to the place I have prepared. -Exodus 23:20 Sometimes we may feel lost. The days are uncertain and no one seems to be at rest. But these are the times when God’s leading is the strongest. God spoke to the people as...

Imagine that homes just a few streets over from yours are under attack. You can hear the chaos, and you can hear it getting closer. You know right away what is most important to you, and how to keep it safe. You pack up just as quickly as you can, and send your only daughter away, alone, and you pray, to safety.

We hear these types of stories from refugees all over the world. It is a clear and present reality in Burkina Faso. They have fled to other villages because of terrorism, drought, and even flash flooding that quickly demolishes mud brick homes.

The number of internally displaced people in Burkina Faso is near one million, and those facing starvation is approaching 3 million. They have escaped with their lives in a country whose government has no means of feeding them. They are just trying to survive and hope for better days.

This 'little one’ in the picture, as one of our Pastors on the ground referred to her, was several miles from home. She was sent from her village to try and make it to the closest refugee camp. The food distributions that we are doing in these locations are helping thousands of people to survive. At each distribution the message of a loving God is shared.

Your generosity is saving lives. Please continue to help us provide food, and basic necessities to the refugees and those in jeopardy of starvation in Burkina Faso. Please share the story of what is happening in this country so that others might be part of the life saving mission we have at hand.

Fellowship Precedes Restoration Jesus said to them, “Come and have breakfast.” When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you truly love me more than these?” “Yes, Lord,” he said, “you know that I love you.” Jesus said, “Feed my lambs.” -John 21: 12, 15 We all know the stor...

Rumor Has It When Peter saw him, he asked, “Lord, what about him?” Jesus answered, “If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? You must follow me.” Because of this, the rumor spread among the brothers that this disciple would not die. But Jesus did not say that he would not die; h...

Personal Blessing Amidst the Chaos You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday. A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you. You will only observe with your eyes and s...

When the survival of King Jehoshaphat’s nation was at stake and his people were in danger from their enemies, he called for a fast. The people sought the Lord and His help—and He delivered them. Today, our nation is at a critical juncture. We need to call out to God for His help, His intervention, and His mercy. It is only by His hand that America will survive and be able to thrive again. We have an election coming up with so much at stake—two vastly different directions for the future of this country. This not only affects us, but our children and our grandchildren.

“And Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself to seek the Lord, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah. So Judah gathered together to ask help from the Lord; and from all the cities of Judah they came to seek the Lord” (2 Chronicles 20:3-4).

I am urging followers of Jesus Christ to fast and to pray for our nation next SUNDAY, OCTOBER 25. Mark it on your calendars and prepare now. I hope individuals, families, and churches will join me in asking for the Lord’s help and for His will to be done in this critical election. Will you?

Waiting on God Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord. -Psalm 27:14 Waiting on God can be hard. We need strength. Be Strong. We need encouragement. Take heart. We need the instructions to be repeated. And wait for the Lord. But the God we wait for is well worth it. From of old no one has...

Letting Go Long Enough He asked her, “Woman, why are you crying? Who is it you are looking for?” Thinking he was the gardener, she said, “Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have put him, and I will get him.” Jesus said to her, “Mary.” She turned toward him and cried out in Aramaic, “Rabboni...

Practical Worship Then Mary took about a pint of pure nard, an expensive perfume; she poured it on Jesus’ feet and wiped his feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume. But one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, who was later to betray him, objected, “Why wasn’t this perfume s...

Man Can’t Kill what God Resurrects Meanwhile a large crowd of Jews found out that Jesus was there and came, not only because of him but also to see Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead. So the chief priests made plans to kill Lazarus as well, for on account of him many of the Jews were going over to Jesus and believing in him. -...

Man's Plans Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails. -Proverbs 19:21 Man likes to make plans. We all do. But not everyone’s plans are good. Sometimes when I hear the plans of others, it scares me. This is especially true when I think of those vying for political pow...

This is the water in front of our Ouaga home AFTER it has receded! It entered into our yard but thankfully did not go into the house. Our local contacts are gathering intel on those affected in these recent floodings in and around the capital city. As soon as we have updates we will pass them on.

Engage Burkina

Urgent prayers needed for the capital city Ouagadougou as heavy rains hit today causing damage to so many and surely we will get reports of loss of life later.

Hope, Not Yet Recognized Jesus was dead. As they walked along the road, they talked about everything that had happened the past few days. How He had been crucified. A stranger joined them on their walk and began asking questions…as if He hadn’t heard. The whole town was talking about it. “What things?” he asked. “...

Unlikely Provision in Obedient Places Then the word of the Lord came to Elijah: “Leave here, turn eastward and hide in the Kerith Ravine, east of the Jordan. You will drink from the brook, and I have ordered the ravens to feed you there.” -1 Kings 17:2-4 Has God ever asked you to do something strange? Something that didn’t make se...

Take Hold of Your Promise

Take hold of your promise and become part of the story. And by faith even Sarah, who was past childbearing age, was enabled to bear children because she considered him faithful who had made the promise. -Hebrews 11:11 How many times do we read God’s promises in the Bible to other people, and wish desperately that He would reassure us of our own? Someti...
