In today's service we shared part of an interview Pastor Don had with Pastor Donald Hayes who is the pastor of our neighbor, Oakland Baptist. We can't, nor should we ignore the calls to end racial injustice in America and a simple action we can all take is to talk to our friends of different races and so Pastor Don did exactly that today. We hope this helps to inform you and motivates you to do the same. Take a few moments to watch the interview in its entirety!

[11/20/19] What a joy having Thanksgiving lunch with our seniors, and our junior-seniors yesterday! The tables were packed with friends; our plates were packed with turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, green beans, cranberry sauce, salad and pie; our ears were filled with the sounds of Jamey Turner playing glasses; and our hearts were packed with gratitude for our faith, family and friends.

What a pair! We will miss Patty Reynolds and ray Reynolds as they move to be near their kids! But we had a fun time together at Red Robin...yumm! Also, Fred and Jean celebrated 57 years of marriage !
You are so generous! We had enough toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, washcloths, shampoo, conditioner, health bars, applesauce, nuts, puddings, etc. to fill 85 bags for the homeless! Each bag had a pamphlet about being a follower of Jesus. Each bag was prayed over. Now what?
If you pass homeless folks, take some bags to give to them. Most of us do not see homeless folk on a daily basis. But, those who are going into work everyday frequently do! We will offer the bags in departments where there are commuters and workers . Anyone may take a bag or two and keep them in their cars until they see a person who needs one.
Thanks for contributing stuff, packing it all into bags, and for giving it away! Let me know if you want a couple of bags to share with others!
[09/26/17] where were you when you heard President Kennedy was shot? Today we had Jaqueline Kennedy come to lunch in her pink suit and pill box hat. Well, Leslie goddard impersonated her--in a wonderful way with soft voice and mannerisms. and a great group was there for the performance and for lunch: baked potato bar with chili or broccoli or sour cream as toppings. It was a yummmy day. Anybody get a picture? Mail it to me and I will post it!

The combo soup and burger--expecting a little of each. There were some clean plate club members, but most carried leftover lunch home for dinner.

Here is an update on Missions Monday!
First, you were amazing at what you brought to fill the bags! We filled 75 bags with toothpaste, soap, hand sanitizer, chapstick, oh, the list could go on!
Fourteen of us stuffed the bags that will be delivered this week. Some of the bags were home sewn by the "quilters" who were given upholstery samples that they made into tote bags. They looked great and are sturdy for many uses. These bags will go to Bethany House. Others will go to places that help the homeless on a regular basis.
After the work, some of us went to Wendy's for a quick lunch--we made it our mission to share french fries with each other!!!
If you missed yesterday's Pancake breakfast cooked by the pastors, here are some pictures to enjoy! We had a good breakfast and found out a lot of info about our pastors, too!
Next Fourth Tuesday is February 28 and features Dr. Bill Hooke who will talk about the weather..."everyone talks about the weather but no one ever does anything about it" ...we will find out why! Bring your questions about weather events or global warming, etc. He's a real live scientist!
Thank you Pastors for the wonderful Pancake Breakfast served to our Senior Adult ministry, this morning!
Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens in Richmond knows how to decorate! We had private tours to see a gazillion lights among the flora and fauna...plus doll houses, then toy train village and a lovely dinner...plus the miracle of no traffic on I-95 going or returning .
Great pre thanksgiving dinner today at our 4th Tuesday meeting. Huge crowd. Turkey, dressing, gravy, pies...yum! Our special guest Jeff Cleghorn certainly entertained us--lots of songs on piano, some singing, some laughter and a few tears on some of your favorites. I was grateful to be there.
