Homily by the Rev. Tim Heflin, Rector - June 21, 2020
Will St. James have the traditional Christmas Eve Eucharist? It's not on the website. Thanks.
Hi St. James community! Don't forget to sign up today for the young adult retreat Weekend Recess! hosted by the diocese and taking place April 5 - 7th, at Camp Hardtner. The focus is on taking a "recess" from regular life, connecting with other young people, having fun, and having your metaphorical and spiritual cup filled! If you have any questions, just lmk! And sign up! Today!
The altar is decorated for Thanksgiving, so beautiful. Thank you, Kelly.

I have seen the sun break through
to illuminate a small field
for a while, and gone my way
and forgotten it. But that was the pearl
of great price, the one field that had
the treasure in it. I realize now
that I must give up all that I have
to possess it. Life is not hurrying
on to a receding future, nor hankering after
an imagined past. It is the turning
aside like Moses to the miracle
of the lit bush, to a brightness
that seemed as transitory as your youth
once, but is the eternity that awaits you.

Consider adding Stations of the Cross to your Lenten devotions and disciplines on Fridays - at 12:15 in the Nave. We will gather on February 26th, March 5th, 12th, 19th, and 26th.

The service lasts about 30 minutes, and you will feel spiritually refreshed and have a deeper understanding of Christ's journey to the cross.

It will be a bit different this year: in order to respect the safety of all, we ask that once you enter the Nave please find a "pew row" in which to stand throughout the service, keeping appropriate distance, and turn to follow the officiant as he or she makes their way around the church.
