Operating as usual

[09/05/21]   PBC offices will be closed for the Labor Day holiday.

09/03/2021

Dear PBC Family,

As our family, friends, and fellow churches across Louisiana recover from Ida, and Covid 19 continues to be a struggle, I pray two things as we approach this Labor Day weekend.
First, for God’s work to be accomplished through His people, and second, for His presence to continually be with you wherever you are.

As you pray for the recovery efforts across our state, don't forget the Disaster Relief volunteers from all over the country who are making a difference. If you would like to volunteer with the disaster relief efforts, call the Louisiana Baptist Building at (318) 448-3402 or visit their website.

Horseshoe Drive:
This weekend at HD, Bro. Stuart will be preaching a message titled "Radical Hospitality" - Matthew 20:29-34. What an exciting time for our Horseshoe Drive campus as the start of September celebrates over a year with Bro. Stuart as campus pastor, and 5 years as the multisite of Philadelphia Baptist Church. God is doing great things at HD!

Deville:
This weekend at Deville, Dr. Dave Edwards will be our guest preacher. Dr. Edwards’ mission is to call people of every generation to be a part of something bigger than themselves. For over 20 years, has been sharing a unique brand of “doable Christianity” to conferences, churches, colleges, and camps. His calling seeks to engage people in all stages of faith. Dave will begin a new weekly ministry called “The Arrival” at Louisiana College this Tuesday night, September 7th. “The Arrival” event, which will include a time of worship and discipleship, is open to the community and will be offered at 6:30 pm every Tuesday in Guinn Auditorium.

New Sermon Series coming next week:
New sermon series “Above All” based on the book of Colossians. The series will begin next Sunday, September 12th at both Deville and HD.

Remember - you can watch services of PBC in the online archives, live on Sunday mornings on the website, on Facebook, or catch last week's Deville service on the CW channel.

Upcoming:
--Sunday, September 5th
Deville Campus SS leadership meetings after the 2nd service; for Adults in Faith Hall, Children leaders in the Café, Youth leaders in the youth room. Pizza lunch will be provided. For details on the Preschool leaders gathering contact Dana.

--Wednesday, September 8th
WOW Wednesdays at both locations at 6:00 PM.

--Sunday, September 12th
-New sermon series “Above All” at both locations
-FAITH Evangelism Kick-Off night at both locations at 4:30 PM
*There will not be a meal or celebration time on the first night.
**It’s not too late to sign up at either campus - call the church office for information.

Please visit our connections page on the website for any information on youth, children, and preschool activities.

Updating is coming to our First Impressions ministry in the days ahead, I ask you to pray about your participation in numerous opportunities to serve.

Dear PBC Family,

Once again we are in the throes of hurricane season, and this weekend we are faced with the possibility of another hurricane. We will be watching hurricane Ida very closely. At this time, we anticipate that we WILL have regular Sunday services (including Sunday School small groups) at both locations with no disruptions. However, we will send updates over the weekend via text message and social media. As you know, our church is very involved with our Louisiana Baptist Disaster Relief ministry. Most likely DR teams will be deployed, and it is possible that both of our campuses could be used as hubs for Disaster Relief teams. Be in prayer that God will use the Disaster Relief ministry to both meet people’s needs in the wake of the storm and share the gospel!

Our worship at PBC this weekend will consist of special services at both Deville and HD that will CELEBRATE all that God has done through our Faith Forward Beyond 2020 capital campaign. As this campaign comes to a close, we want to thank God for the many miracles He has done in our midst the past three years as we stepped out on faith! Also, we will receive a special “FINISH STRONG” offering to help us reach our original goal. Please pray about a one-time gift this Sunday that will help us cross the finish line as we close out the campaign!
Bro. Stuart and I will both be continuing the Agents of the Apocalypse series as we look at “Jesus – Victor and King” from Revelation 19.

Upcoming Events:
--An evening with Jace Robertson at the Deville campus on Saturday night (tickets required). Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Jace will be available for photos/meet & greet from 5:30 p.m. – 6:25 p.m. Jace will speak from 6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
--Small-Group Leadership training at HD on Sunday evening 4:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall (weather permitting).
(Note: Bro. Andrew has postponed the Sunday School Leadership training at Deville to a later date.)
--It is NOT too late to sign up for Fall Faith Outreach which will begin Sunday evening, September 12th at both locations! Join us as we are creating some brand new outreach teams such as the Handwritten Notes team, Prayer Walking team, Phone Team, Pay-It-Forward team, and more! Contact the church office at either location to sign up: Deville – 318.442.0754 and HD – 318.443.3692

Enjoy your weekend, make final storm preparations, and be sure to watch for updates from PBC via text message and social media.

Love from your pastor,
Bro. Philip

This Sunday Night, August 22nd, we will have a special Deacon Ordination Service @5:45pm at the Horseshoe Drive campus. Please join us as we pray for these four men who will be ordained to serve our church as Deacons: Mike Humphries, Jesse Littleton, Jr., Jim Majors, and Daryl Wilson.

PBC Family –

I am excited this weekend for our church to ordain four new men to serve on our deacon body. Two of them attend the Deville campus and two attend the HD campus. It is a privilege for me to serve alongside our deacons as they strive faithfully to Love God, Love Others, and Show Others God’s Love. The ordination service will be Sunday night at Horseshoe Drive beginning at 5:45 p.m. We will have our brief quarterly business session at the end of the service followed by a reception in the fellowship hall.
Please join me in praying for these men and their families:
-Mike Humphries (Deville)
-Jesse Littleton, Jr. (Deville)
-Jim Majors (Horseshoe Dr.)
-Daryl Wilson (Horseshoe Dr.)

Exciting update on our SHARE THE LIGHT summer outreach emphasis:
--Congratulations to the HD campus for exceeding their goal of 500 gospel points of contact! They will likely approach 600 by the end of the summer!
--At Deville, our goal is 1075 points of gospel contact, and presently, we are at 952 with 5 known salvation decisions. I am confident we can reach our goal in the next two weeks if we work hard!
--Only heaven knows the full impact of these gospel seeds that have been sown. Just this week someone reached out to say “thank you” as they had been the recipient of a Pay It Forward card!

Remember, next Sunday, August 29th at both locations, we will have a Celebration service to close out our Faith Forward Beyond 2020 capital campaign. We have seen God do numerous miracles these past three years. We will highlight those miracles, review all of the building projects that have been completed at both campuses, and give a financial update on the campaign. Will you help us to cross the finish line by praying about a special one-time gift in our “Finish Strong” offering on the 29th?

Finally, we have a waiting list for tickets for the event with Jace Robertson from Duck Commander on Saturday night, August 28th. If you have unused tickets, please return them to the church office this Sunday, so they can be distributed.

Have a great weekend, and we can’t wait to see you at church and Sunday School or online and on TV on channel 10. (This week we had two online viewers reach out to testify that they prayed to receive Christ while watching last week’s broadcast – Praise the Lord!)

Keep pressing on,
Bro. Philip
