Thanks to Hope UCC for sharing their history and beliefs as a church family this evening. Wonderful to participate in an open group of people.
He is risen!!! The church is full! And looks amazing.
Hope UCC Choir was wonderful today.
Today was Lenten stations... love how creative they are. A great way to reflect on our faith. So many paths and ways to commune with God
Wow!! Voices of Hope really kicked off the Love Wins Concert tonight! Perfect!
And the choir was beautiful today.
Hi friends, I had this idea of start knitting but I could not grasp the full concept of it. So, I have lots of yarn to give away to those who love doing it or just wish to start. As the cold season approaches, many folks feel the urge to make warm fuzzy things to wrap around themselves. Let me know who wants to acquire some and I will bring them to church on Sunday.🧣🧥
The welcome team loves having our meeting on Gordon Biersch. It's a fun group!!

Please visit our website at:http://www.hopeucc.org. Discover a church in Alexandria, Virginia that offers real hope. Encounter God in lively worship and welcoming people.

No matter where you are on life's journey, you are welcome here.

Have you ever felt like you didn’t have anything to offer or that you couldn’t make a difference? It’s easy to feel too small when the problems of the world feel so big. This week, we conclude our Faces of Our Faith summer worship series with the story of Lydia in Acts 16. Lydia likely had wealth and privilege which she shared to support the expansion of Christianity to Philippi. Her story of generosity and bravery inspires us to look for ways to share our own blessings. Join us either in person or on Zoom this Sunday at 10:30am. For all worship details, go to https://hopeucc.org/whats-happening/

The United Church of Christ’s International Disaster Efforts have helped thousands in the midst of devastation and loss. Now relief efforts are needed in Haiti. The UCC is issuing an appeal through the Global H.O.P.E. team to assist with short-term and long-term recovery needs. A massive 7.2 earthquake has killed more than 2000 people. Search and rescue efforts are expected to be hampered by Tropical Depression Grace, which came ashore on Monday, August 16.

The funds raised will support immediate relief efforts assisting survivors as well as to have resources for long-term rebuild opportunities. With you, the United Church of Christ can provide the needed resources for those experiencing extreme loss in Haiti. You can support their work by donating today at https://www.ucc.org/ucc-haiti-appeal/

Have you ever felt separated or isolated from community, almost like you fell out and can’t climb back in? This week, our summer Faces of Our Faith Series focuses on the story of Eutychus. He fell out of a window while Paul was preaching, but his story is a symbolic one for us. Who might be on the edge of falling – out of community, out of health, or out of church? Join us either in person or on Zoom this Sunday at 10:30am. For all worship details, go to https://hopeucc.org/whats-happening/

The road to God’s justice and peace is winding and difficult. We make mistakes, we need to apologize, and then we start again. We continue our Faces of Our Faith Summer Series this week with a closer look at Philemon. TAKING RISKS: Have you ever witnessed or experienced a wrong that you just felt like you need to stand up and speak against? Like a bullying incident or microaggression? How did you decide what to do? How did you assess the risks? This week, we learn about a Face of Our Faith who did just that, Joseph of Arimathea. Joseph risked his position as a wealthy and influential leader to offer a tomb for the burial of Jesus. It was a public statement, and it was a risk. Join us at 10:30am on Sunday via Zoom to explore our Faces of Faith and celebrate Holy Communion! For all worship details, go to https://hopeucc.org/whats-happening/

POINTING TO GOD: We all have special people in our lives that give us a glimpse of God. They recognize God in the world AND they speak up about what they see. The Bible is filled with stories of brave people who shared this spiritual gift. This week, we will learn about Anna, from Luke 2. Anna was an old prophet that recognized Jesus as the Messiah when he was just a boy. Join us to explore our Faces of Faith at 10:30am this Sunday via Zoom! General information

We are people of searching hearts, inquisitive minds, and a restless longing for justice. We celebrate progressive families and our children. No matter your type of family or age, no matter your race, ability, sexual or gender orientation, no matter your questions or longings, Hope may be the spiritual home you've been searching for. Each week, we gather at Hope UCC for God to form us into a community that offers God’s hope especially to those in the Alexandria area. We want that hope to reach out to all kinds of people. We want to be people of Hope because we have seen such a love in Jesus Christ, our hope. We experience the living God in worship and with one another. We believe Christ’s presence in our lives can lead us to act and care boldly — to heal, forgive, tell the truth, come out, pray and sing, do the justice work, to weep, laugh, and celebrate God’s hope. At Hope Church we do not claim to have all the answers about who God is and what God has to say to the world. We are a group of people who believe that God is still speaking in our world today. Our goal is to listen and follow. Our task is to love and serve. Through our community we hope to bring peace and justice to a broken world. Please visit our website at:http://www.hopeucc.org and stop by our church for Sunday service at 10:30am. We look forward to meeting you! It's worth the journey to Hope UCC!!!
