Tomorrow is going to be an awesome day of worship. The Bells of Praise will be playing. They are doing the Prelude so come early so you can be blessed. We will be presenting Bibles to our Third Graders. Our awesome Director of Children's Ministries, Linda, will be having a workshop later in the day to teach them how to use their Bibles. What an exciting milestone in these young disciples' lives! We are finishing up our worship series The Walk by talking about sharing our faith. As you prepare for worship, think about this question: Why are you a Christian?

Veterans’ Day Recognition

Each year we recognize all those in our congregation who have served in our nation’s military. We invite these men and women who have honorably served the United States of America for our freedom’s sake to attend (and if so inclined to wear your uniforms/medals) on Sunday, November 7, 2021 at 10:00 am. The sacrifices made by each veteran and their families are much appreciated and we choose this time to honor those among us for their service.

New Study - The Scandal of Forgiveness, by Philip Yancey
Please join the Span of Ages Sunday School Class on October 10 at 08:45 AM in the church’s third floor classroom or virtually via Zoom.

Containing new material written just for this book and adaptations from his class, What’s So Amazing About Grace?, best-selling author Philip Yancey presents a one of a kind look at forgiveness: what it is…why it is so difficult…why we have to choose this unnatural, scandalous act…

This six-week book study begins on Wed., October 10th at 08:45 AM, led by Bruce Bartolain. We meet in the church’s third floor classroom, and have a virtual connection available via Zoom. The book is available at the church for pickup and can be delivered if requested (contact Bruce Bartolain at [email protected]).

For those attending at the church, please be sure to sign the COVID Health Acknowledgement Form at https://www.evc.vaumc.org/home/ by noon on Saturday before each class.

New Study - The Difficult Words of Jesus. In this study, Amy-Jill Levine goes for the doozies, sayings that puzzle not only beginners, but even seasoned students of the Scripture. With her bold signature style, she combines her sharp intellect with humor and a bit of imagination to bring these challenging texts alive for us and invited us in as active participants in the gospel story. (Jaime Clark-Soles, professor of New Testament, Perkins School of Theology, Dallas, TX.). This six-week study begins on Wed., September 29, 2021 at 10:30 am via Zoom led by Libby Hall and Barbara Lawrence.

Trunk or Treat is Back!

One of our more popular community outreaches is the Trunk or Treat event. This year we are happy to once again offer it to the children in our community. It’s scheduled for Saturday, October 23 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

We have several games, crafts and balloon animals planned in addition to the treats given at the cars. Covid precautions will be in place as well as masking and social distancing to keep everyone safe.

We will need several volunteers for this event in addition to candy donations and decorated cars. If you would like to help in any way with this event, please contact Linda Biscardo at [email protected].
