Today's worship
I DO love this prayer from a colleague, once in New Jersey, now in Arkansas. Pray it loud and proud, Marie, and thank you!
The link for worship this morning is:
Join us on Saturday, March 14th for an Estate Planning seminar. Whether you’re retiring soon, already retired or just interested in learning more stop on by!
Need a 2nd soprano/1st alt o(tenor. in a pionch) ... clarinet/bass clar/ HANDBELL player? I''m seeking a church to share...Life up your voice until the hills....
This volunteer experience is like salvation! Interested in joining the legacy of Bush Hill members who serve on the first Monday of every month? Just say YES!!
Dear Bush Hill Church Family,

On Saturday, June 1st, Preston will be participating in a fundraiser called “Hoops For Haiti”. The goal for this fundraiser is to raise $5000.00 to support the salary of Haitian physician, Dr. Rodlin “Roro” Paul, so he will be able to work at St. Anthony’s Medical Clinic full time, rather than only the two days he is currently working at the clinic. By having a full-time physician at the clinic, this will enable more patients to receive medical care and provide preventative health services such as well exams to the community. The donations will also be used to provide vital medications and medical supplies to these patients.

“Hoops for Haiti” is a basketball shooting competition. My goal is to make as many baskets as I can in two minutes. I will be competing with my friends in this fun event for a great cause. Would you please consider sponsoring me?

With your generous donation, the basketball players will be able to help provide much-needed medical care for St. Anthony’s Medical Clinic and the local community. All donations are 100% tax deductible and greatly appreciated!!!

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO MAKE A DONATION IN MY NAME CLICK HERE. PLEASE PUT MY NAME IN THE MESSAGE BOX AT THE BOTTOM OF THE FORM.

Thank you!
The Kurka Family

Thank you for posting these photos. It was good to see old friends. We couldn't make it this year, but we feel like we were there thanks to the photos. Bush Hill Church has a special place in our hearts and the hearts of our family.
I'm in New York and I can feel the excitement about THE NEW CROSS on our NEW ENTRANCE through pictures that people are sending me!! It's beautiful!
It's not about "me" and "my healing." It is about "us" and "our healing." I give thanks and praise to God to be called to serve you, a congregation that knows this already!
Sanctuary Choir performing “My Shepherd Will Supply My Need”.
This. This is what we create together. This is why being in church matters. This is what we create with each other. Yes, let's!

We are a church of the National Capital Presbytery in the PC(USA). Bush Hill Presbyterian Church works to carry the message and mission of Jesus Christ to our congregation, our community, and the wider world through an active program of worship, study, fellowship, and service in His name.

Nature Journaling: At Church, In Your Backyard & Beyond

What is Nature Journaling? This 4-minute video will give you a peek into my process and what we will be doing together in this workshop series.
https://youtu.be/sm5RG1AjH9A

Being out in nature, whether hiking, nature bathing or gardening connects our souls with the beauty & diversity of God’s world. Nature journaling is a practice for anyone who wants to look more closely at the natural world around them & improve ways they connect with nature. Nature journaling is documenting what you observe using words, pictures & numbers. The journal is a place to ask questions, make connections, notice & celebrate the natural world. Simple materials are the best: a sketchbook or journal or notebook and whatever tool you like to write with and you are ready!

Join us for a series of 4 Sunday lunch workshops to play with different journaling techniques and strategies.
*September 5 & 19 at BHPC
*Oct the 10 at Huntley Meadows
*Nov 7 at TBD

What to bring to the first session:
*Masks are required when entering the BHPC building
*Your lunch & Water bottle
*A sketchbook, notebook or journal
>Journal size is personal…but I recommend something that is easy to carry in a shoulder bag if you plan on taking it on hikes or to the beach or in a canoe.
>Type of paper is also personal. If you will mostly be drawing/sketching with pen or pencil then thin pages will be fine. If you are interested in using markers or watercolor you probably want a thicker paper.
*A pen and/or pencil you like to use

OPTIONAL: basic colored pencil set; basic watercolor set & brush; bug spray

I will share tools I like using for you to test in your journal.

Please RSVP to Julia Schickel [email protected]

WE LOST A MAJOR SOURCE OF PRODUCE FOR OUR FAMILIES! We are in a bit of a pickle, because the store that has partnered with us for so long has decided, very unexpectedly, to donate to another organization! So we find that we need to find a new source, especially for fruit and bread. THANK YOU to Nalls Produce and The Journey for the vegetables that they donate - providing fresh and healthy options to our families has always been a priority and we could not provide some of these options without these partnerships. But we do not have a consistent source of fresh fruit right now! So you will see it on our needs list this month - also, if you belong to Grow A Row FC and are able to provide some fresh produce, thank you so much!

Below is our current list of pantry needs:

Someone has had a busy day texting YOU this message. NOT ME. Please block this number and NEVER this I would do something like this. When I need a favor, I will pick up the phone and call you. Always.

Presbyterian Disaster Assistance has been in communication with the leadership of the Iglesia Presbiteriana en Colombia. They have ask folks to participate in a time of prayer today at 7pm Eastern Time. There is also an invitation to post prayers.

Violence from police and state security forces across Colombia has taken the lives of dozens of people and wounded hundreds. The violence is an attempt to quell the voice of the Colombian people protesting an attempt to establish a new tax reform, the third and worst yet wave of COVID-19, ongoing lack of peace accords implementation, and more.

We unite in a beautiful prayer written by our colleague the Rev. Mark Koenig.

God who in the past heard the cries
of people who were poor,
people who were oppressed,
hear such cries today.
Hear the cries of your children in Colombia.
Hear us as we pray with the Colombian people.
May the people know your presence.
Support the people who suffer from poverty and unemployment.
Support the people as they cry for justice
when faced with proposed reforms
that would make life more difficult.
Support the people as the country
contends with yet another wave of COVID
that claims lives and threatens the health care system.
Support the people whose cries
are met by violent repression.
Protect the people who pursue justice and peace,
the people who take to the streets,
the people who seek to have their voices heard.
Touch the hearts of government leaders
that responses to protests might be nonviolent and respectful.
Open the ears of government leaders
to hear the voices of the people.
Guide the actions of government leaders
to enact policies that do justice for the people
and that implement peace accords.
Inspire the leaders of the United States
to respond in ways that care for the people
and foster justice.
Strengthen the Iglesia Presbiteriana de Colombia
and all who seek to bring the justice to Colombia
that can lead to peace for the people.
By your Holy Spirit, nurture and guide them.
By your Holy Spirit, inspire others to join them.
By your Holy Spirit, move us to support them.
We pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Our Story

Our mission at Bush Hill Presbyterian Church is this:

As we grow in the knowledge of God’s word and share Christian community, God changes lives through us.

We aren’t perfect. Each of us struggles with something, and we trust that by being open with God and each other, we can find healing and hope and be re-formed into a new creation. No problem is beyond God’s reach. As a Christian community we seek to live into these core values:

Caring People Serve Gladly
