[10/18/11] Watch for photos of the Tanzania trip!
Eyes on Christ recently teamed with Medical Missions International from Clarksville, Arkansas for an amazing medical campaign in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania. We traveled 9,000 miles to assist Livingstone Lambert, Missionay Pastor of Power Missionary Baptist Church in Kwembe.
On this trip I was often reminded of a scripture verse a dear friend gave to me once, Pro 16:9 "A man's heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps." It was evident by the constant change of plans that the Lord was directing our steps. Eyes On Christ was able to assist with 634 eye appointments and distribute 618 pairs of prescription eye glasses and 750 pairs of non-prescription sun glasses. More importantly there were 277 professions of faith!!
The physical and spiritual needs in this area are tremendous. In the four days patients were seen that suffered from HIV, tuberculosis, syphilis and a host of other illnesses. We encountered people who were suffering from hypochromic anemia. This is an illness where people crave and consume soil because they have extreme iron and mineral deficiency brought on by an inadequate diet. An illness I have read about, but thankfully never seen in the United States. We are blessed beyond measure. Please pray for the work that is being done in the area and that people will be helped physically and spiritually.
