Happy Birthday, Jesus!

St. Mark's friends, thanks to the generous amount of nonperishable food items brought to church on Sunday, we were able to deliver 82 pounds of food to the United Community food pantry yesterday! Food pantries are a lifeline for those in our community who struggle with food insecurity. The volunteers and staff at United Community indicate that cereal continues to be their biggest need at this time. As always, donations can be brought to St. Mark's on Sunday and placed in the wicker basket in the back of the sanctuary. If you need to deliver your food items directly to United Community, please be aware that food delivery hours have recently changed to Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Blessings!
St. Mark's friends - When delivering the weekly food donations from St. Mark's to UC yesterday, I was informed that there is a specific need for canned fruit, canned pasta sauce, and cereal. Thank you for your continued generosity!
Fairfax County Public Schools - Groveton Elementary HISTORY includes St. Mark's!!!
When I see these pictures, I feel as though I'm attending church with you. Always enjoy seeing the Luxner family, and know that they are worshiping their God. Thank you.

Almighty and most merciful God, we remember before you this day the people of Louisiana and the Gulf Coast, who are suffering devastation and injury from Hurricane Ida. Tend the sick and injured, Lord Christ; give rest to the weary, bless the dying, soothe the suffering, pity the afflicted. Strengthen all who respond to the needs and work to alleviate the suffering. We pray that in these hours of fear, pain, and suffering, that you may shield them all. We pray too that you will help us to open our hearts to share our bounty with those in need. Help us to heal those who are broken in body or spirit, and in time to turn their sorrow into joy. Grant this Father, for the love of your Son, who suffered much that we might all be one, through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Almighty and most merciful God, we remember before you this day the people of Haiti, who have suffered much in civil unrest and natural disaster. Tend the sick and injured, Lord Christ; give rest to the weary, bless the dying, soothe the suffering, pity the afflicted, shield them all, and those who work to alleviate the suffering. Help us to heal those who are broken in body or spirit, and in time to turn their sorrow into joy. Grant this Father, for the love of your Son, who suffered much that we might all be one, Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen

If you would like to give money directly to an Episcopal Church in Haiti, please send your donation to the Rev. Sam Owen 1858 Hunt Avenue, Bronx, NY 10462. Sam has worked tirelessly with a church in Haiti and has built a school for local children. Every dollar you send will go directly to Haiti.
