Alden United Methodist Church Missions

The Alden United Methodist Church Missions group focuses on helping in local, regional, national, and international needs though volunteering time, food, money, and support to organizations as well as our own missions.

[05/10/19]   This coming Sunday we will be starting a baby bottle fundraiser for Mom's and Tots. This fundraiser will run from Mothers day through Fathers day. There will be baby bottles available at the church for you to take home and put your spare change in. On Fathers day bring back the bottles and we will donate everything you have collected. Or you can give in the usual way with a pew envelope/check marked Moms and Tots mission offering. Thank you for all the support you have given and continue to give :)

UMCOR - United Methodist Committee On Relief

UMCOR is on the ground long after an initial disaster has hit and passed. We are providing more than $1 million to Wisconsin for flood recovery; $2.4 million to Mississippi for severe weather recovery; nearly $2.3 million to North and South Carolina for continued recovery efforts from Hurricane Florence; and $4.6 million to Alabama and Florida for Hurricane Michael and tornado recovery. From the Midwest to the Southeast, UMCOR is helping communities in the United States find their way back to self-sufficiency.

Help our neighbors to recover through your prayers and financial support today. Give now: https://advance.umcor.org/p-620-umcor-us-disaster-response-and-recovery.aspx.

Here is the group who came this year, minus Mary Lou Bell Henry who was not present on the day we took the photo.

Thank you to all who came and worked and prayed for us while on our trip. We got a lot of work done, I haven't received all the pictures yet so hopefully I will get a few more posted when I receive them. Things we did: split wood, dug and buried an irrigation hose to prevent water from getting in the basement, built a ramp for kitchen deliveries, texture painted a ceiling, painted all the walls in 2 cabins, cleaned up the sledding hill from debris, cleaned the garage, installed drywall and trim over windows that were no longer in use, and did I mention split wood :D

[05/30/16]   Maybe another week before the contractors are done in the kitchen and we can finish up the painting. We have about a month before VBS and we need to be done by then. If interested in helping follow this page or let me know so I can add you to the email list that I send out when organizing date/time. We still have quite a bit to do especially since everything inside the kitchen is now coated in dust from the work being done.

[02/10/16]   Missions meeting is this Sunday at 1pm.

[12/29/15]   The local VIM (volunteers in mission) team was successful. Local lady with a few (20ish) cats needed a new floor. We were able to go in, get the carpet out, put down a new plywood overfloor, made sure the linoleum got laid by a professional and took away all the garbage from the house. Lady is still looking to find homes for a few of the cats but has already given away more than half. Good job team!!

[12/01/15]   Thank you everyone for your help shopping for kids in the area with the Giving Tree, we turned in the 50 gifts early this week, This month (December) we will collect donations for Mom's and Tots during the Christmas Eve service.
