I just received another scam email from someone posing as Rev. Angela. Evergreen reminder: always check the email address of the sender.
Have questions about our upcoming special congregational meeting? Bring your curiosities about solar panels, the ARC building, and voting to ordain Jane Davis to the Town Hall today (Saturday) at 2 pm. Same link as worship!
Hi there,

Have you heard I'm taking the Ration Challenge?

For one week, I will eat the same rations as a Syrian refugee living in a camp in Jordan, just a small amount of rice, flour, lentils, chickpeas, beans, fish and oil. That's it!

The money I raise will help bring emergency food, healthcare and life-saving support to the people who need it most.

I would love you to help me make a difference!

Head to https://www.rationchallengeusa.org/samara-la-belle and check out my fundraising page to find out more about my challenge experience and make a donation.

Together we can save lives!
Great sermon today, on the issue of water rights and politics in NM! The books from today's sermon, are At the Precipice by Laura Paskus and Cadillac Desert by Mark Reisner. Thanks, Bob LaVallee.
Geri and I will be at the 9/12 rally and stay as long as we feel safe. Is there anything we can do to assist?
Action Days on Prison Reform!
American Friends Service Committee (AFSC) Launches #FreeThemAll initiative, Days of Action, September 9-13, 2020.
In the United States, 2.3 million people are locked away in prisons, jails, and detention centers, where they are subject to civil and human rights violations and a lack of access to adequate health care. With the pandemic, the dangers of imprisonment have
multiplied exponentially, making every sentence a potential death sentence.
The American Friends Service Committee AFSC has long been a proponent of prison reform, building and supporting efforts both within and without to change this inhumane system in the country. “While we won’t be able to dismantle carceral systems overnight, there are concrete steps we can take to move us in the right
direction.” (AFSC)

The Social Justice Council uses the proceeds of its annual auction to fund requests by social justice groups within the church and the larger local community. We also support local nonprofits by giving them the coins placed in our Sunday service offering baskets. Now, in our new normal, the SJC has pivoted to meet the times and is donating to financial needs related to COVID-19.

You can help with this year’s online auction. You have something to give, whether it’s time, talent, knowledge or something tangible: grocery shopping for a month, a pencil drawing of the bidder’s pet, delivery of a homemade dish, dinner or dessert to someone’s home, a Zoom talk on a unique experience or teaching a class, hosting a virtual coffee klatch or happy hour poetry slam. COVID is presenting us with opportunities to be creative. Tell us what you’re going to do! Contact [email protected].

First Unitarian: Albuquerque, Socorro, Edgewood, New Mexico. We're an innovative, liberal, multi-site church, welcoming all.

Virtual Worship this Sunday! We will be joined by The Rev. Dr. Nicole Kirk, professor of history at Meadville Lombard Theological School. This long year that reaches back to the early spring of 2020 has a lot of us feeling unsteady. How do we find our way in the hereafter? Happy 60th birthday to the UUA!

May 15, 1961 is the date of the consolidation of AUA (American Unitarian Association) and UCA (Universalist Church of America) to form the UUA. So today is our 60th birthday!

Help us celebrate this special day by supporting one of these critically important funds:
The Holdeen India Program: https://www.uua.org/international-justice/holdeen
The UUA’s Living Tradition Fund https://giving.uua.org/LTF
The UUA’s Disaster Relief Fund: https://giving.uua.org/disaster-relief

The image in the graphic below is from the archives. It was taken during the consolidation ceremony in 1961 - too bad they couldn't take selfies back then!
