Family History and Temple Work: Sealing and Healing - By Elder Dale G. Renlund

Elder Dale G. Renlund
Of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles

As Church members, we do have a divinely appointed responsibility to seek out our ancestors and compile family histories. This is far more than an encouraged hobby, because the ordinances of salvation are necessary for all of God’s children. We are to identify our own ancestors who died without receiving the ordinances of salvation. We can perform the ordinances vicariously in temples, and our ancestors may choose to accept the ordinances…

But as we participate in family history and temple work today, we also lay claim to “healing” blessings promised by prophets and apostles. These blessings are also breathtakingly amazing because of their scope, specificity, and consequence in mortality. This long list includes these blessings:

Bearers of Heavenly Light - By President Dieter F. Uchtdorf

President Dieter F. Uchtdorf
Second Counselor in the First Presidency

…just because spiritual trials are real does not mean that they are incurable.

We can heal spiritually.

Even the deepest spiritual wounds—yes, even those that may appear to be incurable—can be healed.

My dear friends, the healing power of Jesus Christ is not absent in our day.

The Savior’s healing touch can transform lives in our day just as it did in His. If we will but have faith, He can take our hands, fill our souls with heavenly light and healing, and speak to us the blessed words, “Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.”

Overcoming the World - By Elder Neil L. Andersen

Elder Neil L. Andersen
Of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles

For decades, I have remembered the words: “These are they who have overcome the world.” . . .

Those who overcome the world develop an all-encompassing love for our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. . . .

“We love him, because he first loved us.” . . .

Overcoming the world is not one defining moment in a lifetime, but a lifetime of moments that define an eternity.

Brighter and Brighter until the Perfect Day - By Elder Mark A. Bragg

Elder Mark A. Bragg
Of the Seventy

“We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;
“Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed.”

. . . . Even in the most difficult and darkest of times, there is light and goodness all around us. . . .

His Daily Guiding Hand - By M. Joseph Brough

M. Joseph Brough
Second Counselor in the Young Men General Presidency

Brothers and sisters, there will be times in our lives when the blessings of guidance seem distant or lacking. For such times of distress, Elder D. Todd Christofferson promised: “Let your covenants be paramount and let your obedience be exact. Then you can ask in faith, nothing wavering, according to your need, and God will answer. He will sustain you as you work and watch. In His own time and way He will stretch forth His hand to you, saying, ‘Here am I.’”

The Perfect Path to Happiness - By President Thomas S. Monson

President Thomas S. Monson

We are blessed to have the truth. We have a mandate to share the truth. Let us live the truth, that we might merit all that the Father has for us. He does nothing save it be for our benefit. He has told us, “This is my work and my glory—to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man.”

From the depths of my soul and in all humility, I testify of the great gift which is our Father’s plan for us. It is the one perfect path to peace and happiness both here and in the world to come.

And There Shall Be No More Death - By Elder Paul V. Johnson

For all who have grieved [or suffered] the Resurrection is a source of great hope.

"Alisa researched survival rates for persons with the type of cancer she had, and the numbers were not encouraging. She wrote: 'But there is a cure, so I’m not scared. Jesus has already cured my cancer, and yours. ... I will be better. I’m glad I know this.'

"We can replace the word cancer with any of the other physical, mental, or emotional ailments we may face. Because of the Resurrection, they have already been cured too. The miracle of resurrection, the ultimate cure, is beyond the power of modern medicine. But it is not beyond the power of God. We know it can be done because the Savior is resurrected and will bring to pass the Resurrection of each of us too. . . . .

"The reality of the Resurrection of the Savior overwhelms our heartbreak with hope because with it comes the assurance that all the other promises of the gospel are just as real—promises that are no less miraculous than the Resurrection. We know that He has the power to cleanse us from all our sins. We know that He has taken upon Himself all our infirmities, pains, and the injustices we have suffered. We know that He has 'rise[n] from the dead, with healing in his wings.' We know that He can make us whole no matter what is broken in us. We know that He 'shall wipe away all tears from [our] eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain.' We know that we can be 'made perfect through Jesus … , who wrought out this perfect atonement,' if we will just have faith and follow Him."
