Mission: An impassioned staff and stellar guest lecturers will guide us through weeks of rich content and help us understand more of the nature of this life we have as people of the arts, and the relationship of that to the presence of God’s Kingdom here on earth. Envision yourself here! * Afternoons dedicated to the development, practice, rhythm, and disciplines of the creative life * Inspired by the Lord of Creation in the unmatched beauty of the Southwest desert * Gathered into the richness of life within an artistic community * Soaked in prayer on behalf of your staff .... that you will leave with greater revelation of the particular work that is yours to do as an artist, an arts promoter, or an educator. Work! … individual work, … work connected in with the Body of Christ, … work in the midst of this world, … work that is more fully formed and in your hands, for the glory of the One who set His eternal kingdom in our hearts.

[10/24/19]   “The main thing is to be moved, to love, to hope, to tremble, to live.” — Auguste Rodin

In your life, in your love, and in your calling, may you feel the stir of creativity. Move in it, thereby you can move mountains. Happy October!

Meet the Staff! Marianne Millar: Visual Arts Track

Marianne Millar was born and raised in Southern California and received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of California at Davis. She then went on to post-baccalaureate studies In Illustration and Drawing and Painting at California State University in Long Beach. During this period Marianne was involved in the design and production of many public and private murals for such clients as Liberty Fruit and Produce, City of Long Beach, the Port of Long Beach, and the Long Beach Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

After brief employment as a newspaper photographer in 1992-1993, Marianne traveled back to Southern California and back to her first love, painting.

In 1994, she began drawing on her childhood experiences of traveling to Indian reservations, trading posts, dances and Pow-wows throughout the American West, and started her first series of Native American portraits. Her painting career continued to blossom throughout the 1990’s and early 2000’s as Marianne began to show her work in various southwestern galleries of Scottsdale, AZ and Santa Fe, NM.
Then in late 2006, Marianne felt the need for a short term hiatus from painting while also wanting to explore her spiritual roots. She ended up joining Youth with a Mission in 2007 and the short term hiatus turned into 4 years living in Guatemala and helping to manage the YWAM Antigua base as well as leading DTS teams and church groups throughout parts of Central America and the Caribbean. During this time, Marianne continued to pursue the visual arts but was now working in the realms of graphic and web design.

With a passion to merge her art with her ministry, Marianne continues to paint Native America, is working as an illustrator for Create Seeds International and also continues to work with Youth with a Mission in Native American ministry and as a sand animation artist.

Albuquerque Little Theatre

See a show at the Albuquerque Little Theatre, a staple of the city for nearly a century. Founded in 1930 by Irene Fisher and a group of “civic-minded citizens”, a new local Theatre group was born. Over the years, the theatre has featured such talents as Vivian Vance, who went on to win the very first Best Supporting Actress Emmy Award ever given, for her role as Ethel Mertz on “I Love Lucy” as well as Don Knotts, Bill Daily, Ann B. Davis, Nancy Kulp, and Maureen O’Sullivan just to name a few.

The goal of Albuquerque Little Theatre is to “cultivate appreciation of the theatre arts through active participation in fully-staged productions and to nurture aspiring talent through innovative educational programs.” Along with their shows, the theatre offers performance and educational activities to the community. It also develops programs to “enhance the cultural environment in which we live.”

Core Identity | Burning Bush Ministries

Fred Allen is the founder and president of Burning Bush Ministries. He has a graduate degree in English literature and taught at Crown College near Minneapolis and George Fox University in Newberg, Oregon.

An international speaker, teacher, writer, cartoonist, and sometimes stage actor, Fred blends comedy with passionate delivery. As a teacher he brings a refreshing literary approach to the Scriptures. Avoiding dogmatic predispositions, he insists on letting the Biblical texts speak for themselves rather than encumbering them with theological assumptions. The result is a thoughtful, powerful encounter with the God of the Bible.

Along with Preaching, Teaching, and Service, a core value of Burning Bush Ministries is the Arts. As Fred states on their webpage (go have a look through the link below!) – “Because we are convinced that God has made humankind to share in his creative nature, we feel a special call to explore and share the value of the literary, visual, and performing arts as a powerful expression of divine truth and beauty.”

His wife, Sonia Allen, is a successful artist and art educator. They have four grown children and live in Salem, Oregon.

Head on over to Albuquerque, New Mexico this October to the Arts and the Kingdom seminar for a chance to hear Fred teach!
