Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament

This weekend Christians the world over celebrate a church holiday [holy day] in Pentecost. But for many of us, it's a bit hard to explain. So, let's break it down a bit.

The English word “Pentecost” is a transliteration of the Greek word pentekostos, which means “fifty." In Greek "pente" means "five."
Pentecost comes from the ancient Christian expression pentekoste hemera, which means fifty (as in “fiftieth day”). This name comes from an expression in Leviticus 23:16, which instructs people to count seven weeks or “fifty days” from the end of Passover to the beginning of the next holiday (pentekonta hemeras).
But Christians didn't come up with the phrase "fiftieth day"; we borrow the phrase from Greek-speaking Jews. They used the phrase to refer to a Jewish holiday - the Festival of Weeks (fifty days from the end of Passover).

Easter Version of ‘Hallelujah’ Will Give You Chills. Wow!

You can not celebrate Easter until you view this video. Remain blessed..... You’ll love this spiritual version of the popular song ‘Hallelujah.’ When the kids’ chorus kicked in, I completely lost it.

Saint Paul's Outreach

"The kingdom of God is not a matter of eating or drinking, but of justice, peace, and the joy that is given by the Holy Spirit. Whoever serves Christ in this way pleases God and wins the esteem of men. Let us, then, make it our aim to work for peace and to strengthen one another." Romans 14:17-19

These days, Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Holy Saturday have us walking with Jesus as he washes feet, prays in the garden, is betrayed, denied, convicted, executed and MOST importantly, raised from the dead on the glory of EASTER Sunday. Please join with all who are celebrating this time in prayer and experience as we are ALL called to wash feet and walk with the Lord to the glory of everlasting life.
Peace to all who read this,
Fr. Andy
