The coronavirus is among us, perhaps even within some of us - a cause for fear and misplaced hope. " ... the kingdom of God is among you." (or "is within you.") (Luke 17:21) - a cause for hope in that which is our only true hope.

Hi.... wanted to invite you all, ask you to announce the meeting I'll be holding at the Heights congregation on Biblical evidences. Can you look an adult in the eye and explain why you believe in the Lord Jesus? 7801 Zuni Rd SE Thanks Jerry Blount
I'm thankful modern technology and the opportunity to spread God's word of truth. To my many brethren that have become Trump and conservative evangelical religious political agenda supporters, aren't you forgetting at least seven very important truths of God and our nation. One, God can do anything and is in control of all His creation, but He created all mankind in His image with free will, Gen. 1:27. Therefore, all human activity, including government, is under our own control and we are responsible for our own sins, not God. In the U.S. we are free to pick our own governmental officials. God has chosen not to interfere with that freedom nor does He have any purpose in doing so. All of God's spiritual purpose was completed in Christ. Two, just as God shows no favoritism and all are equal in His eyes, Acts 10:34-35, as Christians we must also not discriminate among all mankind as all are created in His image. The accounts from Jesus of the woman at the well in Samaria and the parable of the good Samaritan teaches us too obey His command to love our neighbors by not discriminating with any tribalism, xenophobia, prejudice, or bigotry. Three, everything changed with the coming of the Christ and the completion of God's plan of salvation in Jesus. God now has no spiritual purpose to be served by earthly nations. Their only duty is to keep earthly law and order, Romans 13:1-5. Four, the gospel was once and for all time delivered to mankind almost 2000 years ago. God today is not going to deliver to us by the use of today's earthly nations and rulers any new gospel, Gal. 1:8. What could be better for our eternal spiritual well being than the gospel of Christ His Church has been preaching since that first Pentecost following His resurrection from the dead? Five, the president of the U.S. as defined by the Constitution is not our ruler. He is simply a very temporary and limited power "elected" executive in one of three branches of our balance of power democratic government. If you truly desire to live in a nation with a religious pastor-ruler, wouldn't you fit in better in a Muslim Republic or dictatorship. Six, those who are calling for our nation to politically "return to biblical principals" are basically calling for a rebellion against our nation in order to replace by force our nation's rule of law and equality before the law for all citizens of all religions and beliefs by replacing our Constitution with the Bible. With the coming of the Christ the Bible is the word of God to lead all Christians to God through His son. It obviously is not meant by God to be a constitution or handbook for earthly government. And, Seventh, and most importantly, no earthly government can ever be a living breathing being that could ever be baptized into Christ and receive the gift of the Holy Spirit, Acts 2:38. No government can ever have any hope of being caught up into the clouds with Christ on judgement day, 1 Thess. 4:17. There never has been or ever could be any such thing as a Christian government. As Christians it's been difficult for me to accept, for decades now since the passing of the Civil Rights Act and desegregation of our public schools, that so many of our brothers and sisters in Christ out of anger against what finally has become a nation of equality for all before the law have forgotten these very basic and fundamental truths of God and our nation and turned against such a fair country.

Everyone is welcome at Montgomery. You don't have to look, act or dress a certain way to be a part of what God is doing here.

Mission: Making disciples of Jesus Christ who love God and love others.

Had a great staff meeting today celebrating a great Easter, looking forward to the weeks and months ahead, and spending some time on leadership development with Jay Stearley!

Easter morning was a beautiful example of the BEST children's ministry available. In-the-HOME children's ministry. I am so proud of our parents and kids and how the Resurrection Story was shared and taught in such meaningful ways. Parents truly are the best teachers of the precious Gospel story for their children. Despite a very different Easter experience for this children's minister, my heart was so full! Deuteronomy 6:6-8

What We Believe

Montgomery Church of Christ is on a journey with God. By God's grace, we seek to be a caring family where lives are being transformed to glorify God, imitate Christ, and make Christ known.

We believe there is one true God who demonstrated His love for humanity by sending His Son, Jesus the Christ, to die on the cross for our sins. Jesus suffered the penalty that our sins should have brought to us. He paid our debt to sin at the cross, was raised in glorious triumph, and sits at the right hand of God. We believe He will come again to claim His followers.

We believe salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. We cannot earn or deserve what God has done for us through Jesus Christ. Forgiveness of sins and reconciliation to God is His loving gift to us through the life and selfless sacrifice of Jesus on the cross. God guarantees our salvation by giving us the indwelling and abiding presence of His Holy Spirit.

We believe faith expresses itself in turning away from sin, baptism in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit for the forgiveness of sins, and the gift of the indwelling Holy Spirit, and then living a life that embodies God's love and life in every way. Repentance is our decision to return to a life that imitates God in every way and immersion in water manifests our willingness to die, be buried, and be raised in His likeness.

We believe that all Christians are called to adopt a life of discipleship that imitates Christ's own. In following Jesus Christ, we are guided by God's Word preserved for us in the Bible and empowered by the Holy Spirit of God's love. Our weekly participation in the Lord's Supper serves to remind us of God's saving work in Jesus Christ and the covenant life that all people can enjoy and experience with Him.

We believe the purpose of the church is to honor God, the Lord Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit by living lives that reflect and demonstrate the care of God for the world. By God's grace, we endeavor to share Jesus through our words and actions, to encourage others to mature as followers of Christ, and to love God first as well as love all others as God has loved us.
