Don't forget about Taco Thursday this week. We can't wait to see you there!!
Now that new care groups are starting up, I’m sure you’re thinking about what kinds of topics you might like to discuss. Everence has a series called “30 Days of Generosity” that is intended for use by small groups, but can also be used as a daily devotional on the topic of generosity. If anyone is interested, please let me know and I will make the resource available to you. – Leslie Kryder, Everence Advocate. P.S. I don't check Facebook real often, so please email or call me.
Fortunately antibiotics are making quick work of my strep throat, but I'm working on Thursday so I won't be able to organize Taco Thursday. Next week Michelle and I will both be gone for SA Leaders retreat. So we are planning to resume Taco Thursday February 14th unless someone else would like to organize things. We look forward to starting back up though and hope we can get a good crowd coming in for food and fellowship.
Glamping opportunity: Daniel and I are looking for someone to stay in our home from now until August 23rd. The house is only partly furnished-utilities are on but there’s no WiFi. There’s some furniture (loveseat, desk, table, chairs, towels) but no bed, kitchen stuff or microwave. Please send a PM to me if you’re interested. Thanks!
Does anyone from church have/sell chicken eggs?
Watch for events and posts on our Watershed Way page. Feel free to share.
Hey ABQ folks, check out at the big Saturday morning sale on 1300 Girard NE between Constitution and Indian School. All proceeds benefit our young service volunteers who have donated 9 months of their lives to serving the wider Albuquerque community.
Can you post information about the watershed event that was mentioned in the service this morning? Thank you.
Hey Folks, Here's my latest blog post about starting a new youth initiative. It's called......Sunday School - wohoo! It starts this Sunday and I look forward to discussing school violence and what's happening nationwide with students marching out. This may be big.
Thanks everyone for such a great donut fundraiser Sunday. The youth raised over $200 along with lots of clothing and other supplies for the CYFD Receiving House. Gracias a Todos!

Wednesday is Earth Day—Join AMC's Zoom worship next Sunday, May 26— as we reflect on our place within creation. Watch for details.

A few years ago, a rock destroyed one of the plate glass windows on AMC’s north entry portal. It remained unrepaired for a season until someone discovered a wooden cross from the storage room would fit into the opening. So an AMC tradition was launched. Every Easter we drape a white shroud on the cross signifying that the tomb is empty.... and so it was again this Easter in the era of COVID-19. The shroud was draped. The tomb is empty. Christ has risen. We live into the promise of new life!

A note from Pastora Erica:

I hope you all are well and more importantly I hope you stay well! I imagine you are probably like me and feeling quite disappointed that in-person services at AMC through April are cancelled. AMC will continue to meet every day at noon for prayers and there will be some excellent Holy Week and Easter at-home resources coming to you soon.

This is not the same as church because church as we know it requires community literally, physically, together. However, this is an opportunity to deepen our solidarity with local and global faith siblings as we receive solidarity and spiritual community everywhere possible in these days. This is also a unique opportunity to deepen our spiritual connection with our faith ancestors as we commune with the cloud of witnesses in a special way. Our faith ancestors honored Holy Week and Easter in many diverse ways, including privately at home.

This will be only the second Easter Sunday in my conscious memory that I will not be in a church building. The first was in 2006 when I was sick. I came home on Holy Saturday after a week in the hospital recovering from invasive surgery. That Easter is a fog probably because of pain medication. I remember my parents taking turns going to Easter lunch with our extended family. I remember my Nana sent home a plate of lunch for me. That's what we are doing at AMC this year- receiving individual plates at home from one abundant table of God's love and community. Much more specifics on this coming soon.

"We pray for people in the U.S and around the world impacted by coronavirus. We pray for comfort for those who have lost loved ones, and for those who have been quarantined and are feeling alone. We pray for healing for those who are sick. We pray for safety, strength and compassion for medical workers who may be overwhelmed caring for those who are battling various illnesses, and workers who are exposed to greater risks. We pray that our public officials act with compassion and wisdom as they work to contain the virus. We pray for those without access to health care, and for those who don’t know how they will make it if they get sick and can’t go to work. We pray that your peace will guard our hearts and minds so that we are not overcome by anxiety and fear.

God, inspire in us ways to show your love to one another and to ourselves. Guide our hearts and our actions to greater care, kindness and generosity in the midst of these fears and uncertainties."

Mennonite World Review

“Music was a huge part of our growing-up years,” says Goshen College graduate Caleb Liechty, the eldest member of the sibling band Girl Named Tom. “All three of us were homeschooled until I was in seventh grade, so music was allowed to be a bigger part of our lives than if we’d been in public school.”

After an East Coast tour last fall, the band is working its way west before covering the Midwest this spring.
