Bloom is a ministry that is designed to help parents confidently take ownership over their God-given responsibility of raising their children toward becoming spiritual champions. Research confirms that the number one influence in the lives of children is their parents, yet research also confirms that parents rely on outsourcing to schools, churches and other venues to meet the spiritual needs of their children. Bloom has been challenged by these statistics and desires to encourage and train parents to be intentional with their kids based on Deuteronomy 6:5-9.

Mission: Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the door frames of your houses and on your gates. Deuteronomy 6:5-9 In our words, our mission is to help our families to be INTENTIONAL and learn to take everyday routines and procedures and turn them into “teachable moments” about our God for our kids. To empower parents, (probably more specifically, mothers) to clearly and age-appropriately train their children through discipline, love, and routines of family life in order to build spiritual champions

Good Afternoon my Sweet Bloom Gals,

It was my hope for us to be able to offer a workshop to help build the excitement and intensity of this of season for you all and your families. However, as I am sure you can guess, it has not happened. Nonetheless, I did want to still encourage you to lean into Christ this week and ponder what His sacrifice was really like and what it personally cost Him for you. I understand these are hard thoughts, but ones that must be considered if we are to taste in even the slightest His pain, hurt and ultimately love for us. Slow down some time in the next couple of days and reflect... relive... respond... rejoice... and live redeemed!

The activity below is from one of my ALL TIME favorite authors... Ann Voskamp. You can find her entire link here:

I realize it is already Wednesday and may seem pointless to still try to pull something off. I encourage you to consider the activity below- it is simple yet very powerful. Commit the little bit of time we have before Easter and see how God redeems. If you can only pull one thing off, I urge you to try the crown and toothpick component- I believe with certainty it will change you, even in this short time.

I love you all and will be praying that this season would not fly by as another consumer holiday... but one where Christ reigns supreme.

Until next time....

When You're Feeling Dry for Holy Week . . . . {Christian Easter Activity} {Two posts today... second one will be up around 3:00 pm EST} Dad always did that after the meat and potatoes, after the plates were cleared and stacked. [09/03/12]   To My Dear Bloom Ladies…As August nears its end, summer drifts to a close and the routine of our school schedules beat unsteadily in hopes to establish a steady rhythm (whew... any one else been reading Ann Voskamp's 1000 Gifts?:).
Anyhow, I am sorry I am only now getting our fall details to you. Our leadership has had quite the challenge in coordinating our schedules this summer to pray over and finalize some of the changes we believe God is directing us towards. Allow me to share that it is season of growth for our leadership as well as Bloom as we delicately balance our first commitment to home in addition to our close second commitment to you all (of course all secondary to the good Lord that is).
Having said that.. we have met... we have prayed... and we are excited to announce that Bloom is going to host a 1 evening Sprout Session for the semester titled: Traditions.
We are excited for this on so many levels. First, this allows our leadership to give you the best we have to offer once a semester with all the bells and whistles while also being able to focus our attention towards home with just as much attention. Second, it cuts down on the financial commitment that is necessary to run a full ministry with out any third party support. Third, we get to celebrate and encourage each other as we head into the holiday season and it is a GREAT opportunity to bring some one new.

So, with out further is the scoop: Mark your calendars for Saturday evening, November 10th.

This session will be a 3 hour gathering focused on fellowship, fun and of course (if any of you know me...) honoring God in our traditions. The time will be spent creating something beautiful, unique and fun that you can take home COMPLETED and ready to use once the season is right. It will be age appropriate for any house hold. There are a couple of details you will want to take notice of. Once the location is set and details are posted you will want to register as soon as possible to reserve your spot. We will be limited to the number of participants and registration will close the week prior to the event. Stay tuned to Facebook for the announcement. I anticipate opening registration beginning of October through our website.

Looking forward with great anticipation for this event. Hope to see you there.

For His Glory and Our Joy,

Jessica Kennedy and the Bloom Leadership Team

The Importance of Touch

For all of you with kids who have grown up so fast.... I don’t remember when I stopped touching him.Lanky legs, stretching back were signs for me…signs to distance and retreat. Signs of Caleb emerging as a man. And, who was I to touch the skin that clothes a future man?Perhaps it was mere self-protection, withdrawing before he, inevitably, rejected ...
