Sorry not to follow through with my reservation to attend 11:00 church today.
Because of the dramatic increase in virus cases, I'm being hyper-vigilant to avoid exposure to virus according to my daughter's wishes. Her immune system is compromised by all the treatment she has had for cancer. I am confidant that all precautions have been taken for the safety of all who are present for worship, but my heart wants to comply with Beth's fears.
Blessings to everyone who is carrying on the work of the people of St. Michaels.

With his stripes, we are healed.

Live yet? I am talking Bea and John through getting onto the feed from a distance. I don't see the "live" button myself, so double-checking.
Let’s all remember to include our wonderful clergy-people and staff during this difficult time. We are truly blessed to have them.

Gay Men's Chorus Pride Concert

This has been a wacky year for singers for sure. We’ve recorded our brains out this year! With luck and lots of vaccines we are presenting what we hope will be our last Virtual Concert on Saturday evening, 6/19/21 and Sunday afternoon 6/20/21. This year’s Pride concert celebrates the pivotal events and figures in Gay History. “Unbreakable” is the absolutely terrific oratorio composed by Andrew Lippa and we sing it (virtually) with 4 fabulous soloists from the ABQ community, and a full orchestra, also sourced in ABQ. I hope you will click on the link below and buy your ticket to one of the performances. Because of rights restrictions placed on us by the Lippa organization, the concert will only be streamed on Saturday night, and Sunday afternoon at the times (Mountain time zone) listed on your ticket. The links will only be valid those two times. Please support the chorus by buying a ticket, and join us in celebrating pride online with UNBREAKABLE: http://www.nmgmc.org/

Book Group: The Church Cracked Open: Disruption, Decline, and New Hope for Beloved Community, by Stephanie Spellers
Led by Mandy Taylor-Montoya

"This book will make a profound difference for the church in this moment in history."
— The Most Reverend Michael B. Curry, the Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church

Sometimes it takes disruption and loss to break us open and call us home to God. It’s not surprising that a global pandemic and once-in-a-generation reckoning with white supremacy—on top of decades of systemic decline—have spurred Christians everywhere to ask who we are, why God placed us here and what difference that makes to the world.

In this critical yet loving book, the author explores the American story and the Episcopal story in order to find out how communities steeped in racism, establishment, and privilege can at last fall in love with Jesus, walk humbly with the most vulnerable and embody beloved community in our own broken but beautiful way.

The Church Cracked Open invites us to surrender privilege and redefine church, not just for the sake of others, but for our own salvation and liberation.
