Register for the Earth Care Friday coming on May 21st at 7:00-8:30 pm with a panel from The Sierra Club. It promises to be GOOD!
I had surgery at Presbyterian Santa Fe today and it was a really great experience. One never thinks that when you have an operation.

I felt like I was in a Spa. It was so clean and the nurses and doctors were great at explaining everything and they all seemed so happy to work their. It was definitely Covid-safe.
Dr. Voltura and the anesthesiologist did a wonderful job.

Thank you Presbyterian Hospital Santa Fe.

Good morning my dear friends let's have a good day and be happy may God bless you all and thank you for being here with me on another beautiful morning
Brothers and sisters, I got news on FB yesterday that Clayton Cobb died unexpectedly while being treated for pancreatitis. He was for years our Presbytery's resource person from the Board of Pensions. He and his wife had recently moved into one of the Presbyterian retirement homes in Southern California. Pray for his wife and all who will help her send him on to the next leg of his journey. May his memory be a blessing.
This morning's collaborative service kept me teary, in good ways! It was so good to see beloved faces like Jaime', Lebeo and Grace, Betty, and others. So wonderful to sing and pray in Spanish, and to hear Fernando and David's music. And, and, and....
Hi friends. With APS still scheduled to start a hybrid model in a few weeks, this means that Children's Choice--a program that provides before/after care in non-covid times and daycare for children of essential workers in covid times--is out of the APS buildings. They are desperately looking for s**ce to provide this vital service. With the hybrid model, there are 3 days each student will be at home. For the children of essential workers (healthcare, grocery, etc), this means they have zero childcare options on those 3 days. This puts the parents in a difficult position--do they leave their jobs to care for our young children on the other three days? But then, what about the loss of income?

If your church isn't already home to a preschool, would you please consider speaking with Children's Choice about sharing your s**ce? This could fill a very needed gap and be a beautiful way to be in ministry to the community.

David and I have had to send Mikaela 3-4 days/week as we both work in healthcare. We have been so impressed with how careful and loving they have been. Small groups of five kids with one adult, masks at all times (except when eating), constant hand washing, and temp/symptom check at the start of each day. M feels both safe and happy there. They are extraordinary.
WORSHIP IS A NEW ANOTHER!

It’s a new Another way to praise God, to hear the word to pray to be in community.

An important point for community pastoral care for those who don’t get it ...

Many of you know Rev. Daniel Erdman, who for many years was a minister of Word and Sacrament in the Presbytery. He worked at Menual and pastored Iglesia Congregacional, the Spanish speaking cUCC church on South Broadway. Daniel grew up in Mexico where his parent were Presbyterian missionaries. His father, Winn, retired to New Mexico and, if I remember correctly, served the church in Penasco in the 70s and early 80s.
On April 26th, Daniel's wife of 30 years, Anne Sensinig, died after a muti-year battle with cancer. Anne was a cradle Mennonite and they met in Nicaragua where Daniel was a volunteer for Witness for Peace. In 2012 they moved back to Anne's hometown in Pennsylvania to be close to her parents.
Anne was the heart of the music ministry at Albuquerque Mennonite Church here and they were greatly missed when they relocated 8 years ago.
Her obituary is in today's Albuquerque Jounal.
At some future date when it becomes possible, there will be a memorial service here in Albuquerque at the Mennonite church.
You can reach Daniel by mail at
Daniel Erdman
329 Ruby Street
Lancaster PA

Please remember him and all Anne's family in your prayers.
Thanks for worship this morning. It was a blessing.

It is simply just too early to tell.

Earthcare Food for Thought

New Mexico is getting hotter and dryer and weather patterns are changing.

The average temperature in NM has increased by 2.7 degrees F since 1970. Less snowfall and warmer winters have led to reduced mountain snowpack and lower stream flows in the rivers that feed reservoirs. Thus, there is less water for agriculture making crops harder and more expensive to grow (Source is from 350.org)

What small or large thing you can do right now to help mitigate climate change?

A few years ago, the Rev. Dr. Diane Moffett, president and executive director of the Presbyterian Mission Agency, wrote this prayer for Mother’s Day worship:

Divine Creator, we welcome you into our sacred s**ce
With open hearts, we usher in your presence
And await the movement of your Holy Spirit.

God of all mothers,
Stand with us as we celebrate
Those who have mothered,
Those who are mothering
and those who will mother.

Abide with us as we honor
Those who found ways to give life
And nurture children
even in the midst of the
Middle Passage.
Slavery.
Jim Crow laws.
Racism.And hatred that threatened
To take away life before it was given.

Stand by us as we acknowledge mothers who stand at the border
Seeking life for their children and families
Only to have those children snatched from their hands
By cruel, callous laws that are indifferent to human suffering.

Walk with us as we lift up mothers
Who are frail and in the final season of living.
Mothers who have given more than they ever received.
Mothers who have cared for, caressed and counseled us.
Who have etched their mark upon our flesh.
Mothers whom we grieve because they have died
And their memory leaves us wanting …

Comfort us as we remember mothers
Who are homeless and hopeless,
Who are locked up and locked out of their
Children’s lives because of
Incarceration.
Or mental disorders
Or self-imposed imprisonment
That inhibits one’s ability to mother.

Like our earthly mothers,
You have given us life
And brought us forth
To be a source of life and light in this world.
You have blessed us with your merciful love
Even when our behavior breaks your heart.

Forgive our rebellious, wayward ways.
Heal our lives and the planet in which we live.
As we enter the celebration of Mother’s Day
Make us grateful for your unwavering
Mercy.
Love.
Provision.
Patience and
Guidance.
And help us to share the same with others.

Amen.

Discovering Our Gifts - a special webinar for Ruling Elders & Deacons - Wednesday April 14, 2021 - 7:00 p.m. (EDT) - Register today at https://bit.ly/3mkwZPv.

God has gifted each of us with a variety of skills, interests, and talents. As those called to leadership in the church, particularly to the ministries of ruling elder and deacon, many of those gifts are called upon in a variety of ways. Take time to explore and discover your own talents, how they can be used to form effective teams, and ways that we work together in community as God’s children. During this webinar, you can expect to search within yourself while also being introduced to some tools to use in your own congregation. #PCUSA

Check out this Presbyterian Mission article featuring the First United Presbyterian Church of Las Vegas.

“Because we live in Northern New Mexico, we’re particularly sensitive to the importance of access to water,” said Lyne, who is also a past chair of the church’s Mission and Peacemaking Committee. “Some members of our congregation have wells or catchment systems and home filtration systems and depend on rain and snow for water. Other members, because they live on ranches, are very aware of water especially because they have livestock. It’s for all of those reasons that our church has always chosen a Presbyterian Giving Catalog project having to do with water.”

Tackle Hunger During the Big Game

This Sunday, February 7th, is the Super Bowl, but it is also the SOUPER BOWL of Caring! The Souper Bowl of Caring invites us to remember all of our neighbors and communities that are hungry, especially on a day when so many of us are eating and watching football.

Many years we would invite congregants to bring canned foods to church, or drop a $1 bill in a soup can, but we know things are different this year! You can give to the Souper Bowl of Caring by giving to your local congregation (via mail or online), and note SOUPER BOWL on the memo line. Money that is raised by congregations is given directly to a local food bank or food provider of their choice!

Youth across the Presbytery have also created a digital minute for mission you can use in your service Sunday, February 7, to raise awareness for the Souper Bowl of Caring. Let Luke know if you would like a copy of the video to use!

Tackle Hunger During the Big Game Souper Bowl of Caring is transforming the “big game” into a nation-wide movement to tackle hunger in local communities. MORE: TackleHunger.org

Rivers of Grace

Almighty God,
you have given us this good land as our heritage.
Make us always remember your generosity
and constantly do your will.
Bless our land with honest industry,
sound learning,
and an honorable way of life.
Save us from violence, discord, and confusion;
from pride and arrogance,
and from every evil way.
Make us who come from many nations
with many different languages
a united people.
Defend our liberties
and give those whom we have entrusted with the authority of government
the spirit of wisdom,
that there might be justice and peace in our land.
When times are prosperous, let our hearts be thankful;
and, in troubled times, do not let our trust in you fail.
We ask all this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
