Palm Sunday! ❤️

“Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord.”

Join us for the start of Holy Week! Remember to go get your palms tomorrow outside of Cha Hội’s office.

This weekend would have been our 5th annual Sạ Mạc Tông Đồ Đội Trưởng Đội Phó, or ĐTĐP camp for short. So in honor of that, here is a look back at our last four camps. And though we are not together physically, we are one spiritually so let’s keep praying for each other! Be a leader to those around you in your everyday lives!

So what was your favorite memory from ĐTĐP? Share with us below!

We won't be able to attend Mass in person on Sundays now but don't worry, there are still online Masses for those interested! Below are links to a few YouTube channels for Sunday Masses. Feel free to share more in the comments for others to enjoy. Keep up the faith, everyone! Let's get through this together!

Archbishop John C. Wester announced last night that The Archdiocese of Santa Fe is closing all its churches and schools effective immediately until further notice in order to prevent the COVID-19 virus from spreading within our communities.

This also means that's sinh hoạt TNTT and ALL TNTT events will be cancelled until further directives from the state and our archdiocese.

Congratulations to all of our Huynh Trưởng who Thăng Cấp this past Sunday during our first day of TNTT!

Thank you quý Trưởng! ❤️

Meet Tr. Têrêsa Đào Quỳnh Như Michelle, our wonderful Đoàn Trưởng! ❤️

Chị Michelle has been in TNTT since she was 6 years old and has been a Huynh Trưởng for 5 years now. “My favorite thing about TNTT is following and watching the kids grow, literally and spiritually, and seeing them come out of their shell.”

Chị Michelle’s favorite thing about our Đoàn is “how close we are as a family and community. Everyone knows everyone.”

When asked what TNTT means to you Chị Michelle replied: “TNTT means strengthening your faith through the Eucharist with people that feel the same way. It means finding and making friendships that last a lifetime. It means sharing and teaching what Jesus has taught us. It means having fun, goofing off, being creative, and learning all at the same time. It means having a family when you are away from home.”

We appreciate all that you do for us, Chị Michelle! Keep up the great work!

Meet Tr. Maria Tạ Hồng Ngọc! ❤️

Chị Ngọc has been in TNTT for 13 years and has been a Huynh Trưởng for 3 years now. "My favorite thing about TNTT is through joining TNTT, I got the chance to meet new people and grow with those who share the common faith and Vietnamese cultural traditions."

"When I was growing up in Vietnam, I participated in the local TNTT for 8 years. After moving to the U.S. and joining our Đoàn, I experienced the differences in cultures and values. I was surprised to see TNTT in New Mexico and happy to see us preserving Vietnamese culture and language. Also, I like how the whole Đoàn keeps up the strong spirit that inspires others. Even though our Đoàn is small, we have certain values that cannot be seen elsewhere. Our small size creates strong bonds between everyone and gives us a certain appreciation for the work that we do. I like how people know each other's names and families, and the caring of one another makes the whole parish become a real family."

When asked what TNTT means to you Chị Ngọc replied: "For me, TNTT is my second family. And like a family, we share joy, sorrow, and love with one another. With the protection and guidance of God, TNTT shapes individuals into better people where they support and help others without expecting rewards."

We appreciate all that you do for us, Chị Ngoc! Keep up the great work!

Meet Tr. Vincentê Trần Đăng Vincent! ❤️

Anh Vincent has been in TNTT for 16 years and has been a Huynh Trưởng for 4 years now. "My favorite thing about TNTT is the love and community surrounding it. Whether I'm teaching, screaming my head off with goofy băng reo, or playing exhausting games with các em, I love how TNTT interconnects our Vietnamese Catholics to their faith and to each other through Christ in The Eucharist. Another one of my favorite things is traveling and the moment you see a TNTT uniform, you know that person shares the same love and faith you do. I am quite literally shaped by this community and truly don't know where I'd be without it."

Anh Vincent's favorite thing about our Đoàn is "aside from being a wonderful family full of spirit and passion, I love that our Đoàn does a good job representing the state of New Mexico. Being the only Vietnamese parish in the state, there's a lot to live up to. Driving half an hour up to an hour to Mass every week doesn't stop our kids from coming together and celebrating God's love. In the end, my favorite thing about our Đoàn is that we're not Lavang Albuquerque, not Lavang Rio Rancho or Las Cruces, we're Lavang New Mexico."

When asked what TNTT means to you Anh Vincent replied: "TNTT means everything to me. I like to keep in mind while serving that I myself did not choose to be a Huynh Trưởng but it was Christ who chose me. TNTT has given me an opportunity to love and serve every time I put on that uniform. Seeing các em learn to love their faith while also having lots of fun at the same time brings me an indescribable joy. It's truly a huge part of my life and really, no matter how difficult an obstacle in my way may be, I look to God and our beautiful TNTT family to remind myself how blessed I am."

We appreciate all that you do for us, Anh Vincent! Keep up the great work!

Meet Tr. Maria Nguyễn Hồng Ngọc! ❤️

Chị Ngọc has been in TNTT for 24 years and has been a Huynh Trưởng for 14 years now. "One of my favorite things about being a Huynh Trưởng is having the opportunity to watch kids grow as individuals in all aspects, especially seeing the ones I've taught since Ấu Nhi. I've been a Huynh Trưởng for a while now so even seeing other Huynh Trưởng grow is amazing."

Chị Ngọc's favorite thing about our Đoàn is "that we're nhỏ mà có võ. We may be small in size but we have a big heart that's full of life and spirit." When asked what TNTT means to you Chị Ngọc replied: "TNTT helps nurture my faith and my relationship with God through prayer, sacrifice, love, and service. It's a bonus when you can do it with your friends."

Chị Ngọc's advice to new Huynh Trưởng would be: "These kids pay attention and remember everything you do. Having your heart in the right place and showing that you truly care can be rewarding. It's not always easy being a Huynh Trưởng. Find your reason why you became a Huynh Trưởng and use that as your motivation."

We appreciate all that you do for us, Chị Ngọc! Thank you for everything!

#TNTT #VEYM #HuynhTruong #LavangNMHuynhTruong

Meet Tr. Maria Đào Nguyên Vyvy! ❤️

Chị Vy has been in TNTT for 24 years and has been a Huynh Trưởng for 12 years now. "My favorite thing about TNTT is the journey. I was able to build a lot of close friendships and memories. The bond that was created within the Lavang family and with our Đoàn made a big impact in my life that I will always be grateful for."

Chị Vy's favorite thing about our Đoàn is "our originality and creativity. We have always been different in our Miền and have always been known to stand out. Through our spirit and our teamwork, we always pull through and have the best time." When asked what TNTT means to you Chị Vy replied: "TNTT is really family. It made me become more of who I am and who I want to be with the help of God, the kids, and Huynh Trưởng."

Chị Vy's advice to new Huynh Trưởng would be: "To be humble, listen, and guide with intentions of making a difference for the kids."

We appreciate all that you do for us, Chị Vy! Thank you for everything!

Our Story

Welcome to the official page of Đoàn TNTT-VEYM Đức Mẹ La Vang, Albuqueruque, New Mexico - Liên Đoàn Biển Đức Hoa Kỳ!

About Our Chapter

In the summer of 1985, a few of our past ĐoànTrưởngs sat down and remembered all of the good memories spending time in Thiếu Nhi Thánh Thể back in Việt Nam. Amist all the laughter and chatter, a growing desire was burning within them to share their knowledge and spread their joy. They decided then and there that they will begin a chapter of the Vietnamese Eucharistic Youth Society here in the small town of Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Our đoàn started out as a small group of dedicated 'leaders' and a handful of young kids. As we strive to assimilate into the American society, we were ever more determined to keep our Vietnamese heritage. Keeping that balance was difficult and at times we failed miserably. However, our first Tuyên Úy, Father John Rebold, kept us going and provided us with spritual guidance and strength. At times when our đoàn was on the brink of collapse, Father John always reassured us and kept our dedication to TNTT going strong.

Through the late 80's and early 90's as hairstyles got taller and crispier, as our pants got baggier and baggier, our đoàn grew in strength and number. We also began to get more organized and structured. Through the guidance of our past Đoàn Trưởng; Anh Tịnh, Cha Trí, Chị Hoa, Anh Pháp, Chị Hương, Anh Sinh, Anh Phong, Anh Hạnh, Chị Phương, Chị Ngọc and our present Đoàn Trưởng, Chị Michelle, our đoàn is as strong as it ever was.

Our kids demand more and more and our Huynh Trưởngs come up with better and better ideas. It is just the sign of the times. Who would think back in the 80's that we would be driving 15 miles from trạm to trạm in our Trò Chơi Lớn? We still have our ups and down, but looking back through the years, nothing has bring me more joy than to participate in our đoàn activities.
