Women's Spring Bible Study

Looking forward to being Spirit-fed and Spirit-filled with the Women of Calvary!
My daughter and I have been enjoying Lenya's "Holy Moments" study, and watching daily for examples and instances of God's presence and encouragement. This past weekend His fingerprint showed up in an amazing photo I took as my husband released his parents' ashes in the Jemez Mountains. When we looked at the photo, we couldn't believe our eyes! Thank you, Lenya, for the sweetness of helping us see that we are loved by Our Father, and His signs of that love are everywhere!

Join Sheologie for our citywide, five-week Bible study Heart Songs: There’s a Psalm for That. Come to our Westside campus on Tuesdays, beginning October 5, at 6:30 pm for worship, Bible study, and fellowship. Food trucks and our pop-up market featuring local vendors open at 5:30 pm each week, so come early to eat, shop, and fellowship.

There is no cost to attend the study, but please register so we can prepare for you. Registration begins September 7. Be sure to download the Calvary Church Check-In App so you can enter our weekly giveaways. There is no Calvary Kids program at our Westside campus for this study; you may bring your children and enjoy the study in the family room.

If you’re unable to join us in person, we invite you to join us live online starting Tuesday, October 5. We offer a Zoom online discussion group after the teaching.

What does fear mean in your life?
[Save/ Share for spiritual encouragement✨]

Fear is a liar. We know this, and we know we must overcome fear in order to live the way Christ intends for our life. What if I told you that everything you want is on the other side of fear? Would that motivate you? Would it cause you to view fear from a different perspective?

The enemy constantly uses fear to destroy the plans and promises chosen for us. Remaining in fear, we are simply trying to gain control where God tells us to “let go.” Our fears reveal the areas we choose to believe in our own ability to overcome and lack faith in God.

As we remember God’s strength is made perfect in our weakness, it allows an opportunity for us to step out fully in faith and move toward fear. If the enemy is trying THAT hard to keep you from something, maybe it’s because he himself is afraid of what you could do through Jesus in the midst of that very fear.

You have the tools and the knowledge to overcome fear, and 1 John 4:18 is a solid reminder that, “perfect love drives out fear” in the name of Jesus.

Hey sister, you weren’t meant to do it on your own.

It can be easy to handle challenges when they happen one at a time and hold little weight of importance. We remain positive and ultimately rely on ourselves to push through. Then, all at once, the world seems to collapse on our shoulders, leaving us in a helpless state.

When we turn inward and expect ourselves to be our own source of strength, we ultimately fail and the enemy takes hold. He gets great pleasure in watching you idolize your personal resilience. Pride becomes priority over surrender, and creates a weak foundation that is easily swept from under us.

Intentional or not, we have all had moments where we are focused on how we can get through one more thing on our own, instead of how God can work through us. We are broken and made whole in Christ. Through Christ alone we are able to overcome any and every tribulation!

Your strength is not meant to derive from within you, but from Christ through you. We are not meant to be our own source of strength, but to allow the Holy Spirit to reflect His power through us. In our weakness, dependency takes place and brings forth life abundant in Jesus Christ.

Your Father is waiting to deliver you with His love, peace, and power as you turn to Him and leave your pride and burdens as his feet. Boast of His glory and power today as 2 Corinthians 12:9 reminds us, “But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is perfected in weakness.’ Therefore, I will most gladly boast all the more about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may reside in me.”

Do you ever find yourself distracted?

The enemy is working hard to draw you away from spiritual growth. He knows where and how to attack. Living in a culture consumed with busyness, our society is the perfect breeding ground for ultimate distraction.

Rushing to work, checking your email and phone, dropping the kids off, making sure lunches are packed, that you’ve eaten, the chores around the house are done, your work is done…it can be nearly impossible to have any down time unless you commit to making it a top priority.

Satan is the master of distraction, and he knows how to utilize your fleshly desires to divert you from reading your Bible or taking a moment to truly focus solely on Christ. Don’t fall victim to his trap. You have been given the power of the Holy Spirit to overcome any and all distractions in the name of Jesus.

When we devote ourselves to Christ, we are obeying the purpose God has for our life. Through devotion we grow, we learn, we become stronger, and we connect with our Savior. He wants to deliver us from the evils of this world, but when we allow distraction to interfere, we also interfere with the ability to be all that we are called to be.

Ask God to give you power through His spirit to be victorious over distraction in your life. Psalm 19:14 offers the perfect prayer, “Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.”

Do you struggle with patience?

When we as humans struggle with patience, it’s important to look at The Lord and His ceaseless example of patience within the gospel. Gods patience is best seen in His kindness to sinners.

His patience fosters repentance in us through a prompting of the heart. It moves us.
What might patience do in your marriage? Your friendships? Or while waiting in the drive thru line when you’re running behind?

If the Lord can wait thousands of years hoping for the remnant to be saved, for us to be saved, we can utilize patience to show our love for Him and through Him. He isn’t willing that any of us should perish, so He waits for us to turn to Him.

Do you have a prodigal? What about an unbelieving husband? Remember God’s patience throughout His word and how His patience moved the hearts of others to draw them close to Him.

God has a plan, and in that plan He is waiting for people now to be saved before He returns.
We must be a people of patience and hope for others to be redirected to the glory of God.
When we exercise patience, it keeps our soul from bitterness and allows others to get a taste of heaven.

Ephesians 4:2 reminds us how to live life for Christ, “Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love.”

Do you make decisions based on what your heart desires?

If you’ve ever heard the term, “The heart wants what the heart wants,” and believed the sincerity behind it…It’s a lie sister.

Sometimes to be blessed with good things, we have to let go of some bad desires that may come from the heart. Our heart can be deceitful and often times can lead us astray.

God may be waiting to give you bigger, favored desires, but you are too busy holding on to one of the past or present that no longer serve you well.

Trust that The Lord will provide, but be willing to turn to Him and ask for discernment within your heart’s desires. Ask Him to search you, and to grant you with both clarity and strength to move forward in the direction He has intended for your life.

Let it go and let God reveal all that He has for you today!

Do you need a transformation in your life?

As Christians renewed in Christ you are called to a new identity. The life you once lived is being made new through Christ into one much greater. Not only for you, but for Jesus to move through you for His purpose.

We are not to live in the way of the world, but to be set a part and truly renewed from the inside out. The Holy Spirit allows us to be saved from a life of sin and be made new in Him. The minute we have been made into a new creation, our ordinary is transformed into the extraordinary.

This world is filled with so many lies but we must stand firm on the Truth, and in order to do this daily we must renew our minds by diving into the Word and allowing Jesus to work in our hearts. In Him we are capable of remarkable things.

This world needs the goodness of Christ! This world needs you to be His hands and feet, and in order to do that you must combat the lies, face your fears, and rely on the Rock. Philippians 4:8 reminds us, “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.”

Allow God to transform the ordinary of this world into the extraordinary it so desperately needs, through you! You are given strength through Christ to be the light this dark world desires.
