Rev. Fred Rogers was an ordained Presbyterian minister.

Fifty years ago today, “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood” made its debut on televisions nationwide. François Clemmons, who played Officer Clemmons — making him the first African American actor to have a recurring role on a children's TV show — remembered his extraordinary friendship with Fred Rogers.

Watch Trump's Budget Director Say That Meals on Wheels “Sounds Great” But Doesn't “Work”

Members of Immanuel Presbyterian Church were instrumental in founding Meals on Wheels in Albuquerque as a compassionate response to elderly who needed food and a visit. It continues to thrive. A cut in this program is penny wise and pound foolish, and that's the best case scenario. http://www.slate.com/blogs/moneybox/2017/03/16/trump_s_budget_director_says_meals_on_wheels_doesn_t_work.html

About 1:30 a.m. this morning we awoke to fire trucks battling a fire in the beautiful Carlisle Condominiums that have been under construction adjacent to Immanuel Presbyterian Church. It was a great conflagration as the thirty four units went up in flame and smoke. Thanks to ABQ's finest fire fighters for keeping the flames from the church which sits about thirty feet from the condos. There is only a mild campfire smell inside the church and we have no power or internet, but we give thanks it wasn't worse for us. We are sick, however, about the beautiful condominiums which were going to be a new centerpiece for the neighborhood. Prayers for all affected.

Ten of us from Immanuel shared the iftar meal last night at the Raindrop Turkish House to learn about Ramadan. Observant Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset taking no food or water as a spiritual discipline for a month. They gave us this beautiful handmade ceramic plate from Ephesus as a gift to thank us for letting them feed us.

Raw Tools, a Mennonite organization from CO, was in town to help us bear witness to the possibility of a world without gun violence. They brought a portable forge and transformed guns donated by ABQ Police Dept. into garden tools. Thanks to La Plazita Institue, a great org. helping troubled youth, for being our hosts. Thanks also to the Immanuel Mission Committee for all your hard behind-the-scenes work and to the Highland High football team for moving tables and chairs.

This past Sunday on Mother's Day we invited people to complete the sentence, "My mother always says (said)...." Here are the responses: Clean your room! Breakfast is the most important meal of the day! Age is mind over matter - if you don't mind, it doesn't matter! Eat your veggies! Because I said so! Pretty on the inside is more important than pretty on the outside! The road to Hell is paved with good intentions! Stand up straight! Think before you speak! Close your mouth! Stand up for what you know is right! What in the Sam Hill is going on here?!?! You're wearing that?!?! Strong language is the sign of a weak mind! No, you can't wear that to school! Everything happens for a reason! Dumb people are people too! Jeans are for boys! You ought to be ashamed of yourself! Get up or I'll throw water on you! Clean your plate or I'll send it to the starving Armenians! Your father grew it, I cooked it, you eat it! You only live once! Did you take your ibuprofen? When you lie down with dogs you get up with fleas!

Israeli students at the Technion have done it again. They've figured out the most delightfully convoluted way to get ready for Passover.

In honor of the festival of freedom they've let their imaginations run wild. Watch closely as this Rube Goldberg Machine created by students from the Faculties of Mechanical Engineering and Architecture and Town Planning relates highlights of the Passover story.
