LIVING STONES & LIVING SACRIFICES
We are more than prepared to face the challenges of living as strangers and foreigners in this world. Those challenges may begin simply in our daily living but also may increase as they have in our day with increasing confusion in the public square. Ultimately, as we hear of St. Stephen, the first martyr for the faith, the confession of this faith has become a life or death issue for many even in our own day. Regardless of the intensity of the good fight of the faith, we see our Savior Jesus come to deliver us. Let us join all creation in praise to our saving Lord.

The word “peace” is central for God’s people to hear time and again as part of worship. The peace of the Lord is exchanged between pastor and congregation and often also spoken among the people of the congregation. It is the last word in the Benediction and is therefore the most frequently used word to close the service. It is our blessing to hear that word of peace from our Lord once again today in our world—which also has unrest and challenges.
Come and celebrate online with us the 'peace that passes all understanding' this Sunday at 10 am. Watch the service online LIVE or anytime at www.christabq.org

**UPDATED**
Long before Jesus’ death and resurrection, God made clear to His people that death would not have the last word. As Ezekiel was inspired to write of the dry bones of death having life breathed into them, it would foreshadow the future for God’s people through the One who conquered death and grave once for all. In a world of death and decay, we are sustained in our journey now until the resurrection of all flesh through Jesus Christ, our life-giving Lord and Savior.
This Sunday we will worship together as the Body of Christ online, so join us LIVE @ 10:00 or later www.christabq.org

The Light!
It’s said that darkness is nothing more than the absence of light. Darkness and blindness are words often used throughout Scripture to describe our sinfulness—the absence of the true Light. In our continued Lenten journey, we prepare our hearts for the dark afternoon of Good Friday at the cross. Yet even in that darkness, Jesus Christ brings the light of life. In our times of spiritual blindness and comfort in the darkness of this world, we see His light through our vision of Spirit-given faith, that our eyes may look to Him who is the light of the world—the light no darkness can overcome.
This Sunday we will worship together as the Body of Christ online, so join us LIVE @ 8:15 or later at www.christabq.org

March 17, 2020

The Guidelines issued by Federal, State and City continue to evolve on a daily basis. The new recommendation is to limit the size of all gatherings to no more than 10 people. This directly impacts our ability to hold worship services in our Sanctuary. Our Board of Lay Ministry will be meeting by teleconference this evening to make a decision concerning worship over the next several weeks.

If attending services in our Sanctuary is not possible, we will continue to live webcast both our Wednesday 7:00 pm Worship and our Sunday 8:15 am Worship.

For worship links, please go to: https://www.christabq.org

Again, all other activities remain cancelled until further notice. We will be re-evaluating these decisions weekly. Please continue to check your emails for updates.

We encourage all individuals to follow the guidelines established by our governing authorities. hand washing, sanitizing surfaces, Self-Isolation, Social Distancing, and other behaviors will help to minimize the impact of the coronavirus in our community and among those we love.

Remain connected to one another by phone, email, FaceTime, etc. Continue to pray and meet the needs of one another as you are able to safely do so within the guidelines.

Our Church and School Offices remain open on a very limited schedule. If you are in need of assistance for delivery of groceries and other items, please call your Lay minister or call the Church Office at 884-3876 and leave a message.

Christ Died for Us!
God's mercy and grace are revealed to those who deserve anything but. The Israelites who wandered the wilderness complained on no water. They didn't deserve anything because of their sinfulness, yet God responds in mercy and grace. The woman from Samaria at the well didn't receive compassion from her community and didn't deserve it from Jesus, yet she was given and shown mercy and grace by our Lord and Savior. We, too, have gone astray and don't deserve mercy and grace from God himself. Yet, while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Come and share in that undeserved grace and mercy this Sunday with us at 8:15am or 11am or worship online LIVE at 8:15am or anytime at www.christabq.org

Wednesday Lenten Worship
'The Jews cried out, “If you release this man, you are not Caesar’s friend. Everyone who makes himself a king opposes Caesar.”'John 19:12
In this service, we remember that the wounds of dishonoring authority we committed against our Lord were laid on Christ on the cross. Our Lenten observance reminds us that though we have been brought low by sin, our Lord will bless us with new life in him through the cross.

How Can This Be? - John 3:11
That which is born of flesh cannot inherit the kingdom of God, only that which is born of the Spirit, born from above and born anew. With Nicodemus we marvel at Jesus’ words. It is hard for us to admit that we cannot save ourselves but must be redeemed from sin and its death. Even more difficult is to see in the baptismal water that power of the Spirit connecting us to Christ’s death and resurrection—giving us this new birth. “How can this be?”
Come and experience God's promise to us through His Son this Sunday in worship at 8:15am or 11am. Worship online LIVE at 8:15am or anytime at www.christabq.org

Wednesday Lenten Worship
'The Wounds of Violating the Sabbath'
'Why are you doing what is not lawful to do on the Sabbath?' Luke 6:2
We remember that the wounds of violating the Sabbath we committed against our Lord were laid on Christ on the cross. Our Lenten observance reminds us that though we have been brought low by sin, our Lord will bless us with new life in him through the cross.
Join us this Wednesday @ Noon or 7pm for Lenten Worship or join us online LIVE at 7pm or anytime at www.christabq.org

Temptation - Matthew 4:1-11
Sunday, March 1st is the First Sunday in Lent as we make our annual journey with Christ to the cross. Today we watch as Jesus faces the slick lies of the tempter. He does not face them on His own but in the strength and power of God’s Word and truth. When the devil hands Jesus the opportunity to doubt or fear or deny Himself and His Father in heaven, Jesus responds with the stronger Word. He does this not to prove Himself, but for us, that we who live in Him by Baptism and faith may also be made strong in the Word of the Lord before the devil’s wiles and lies.
Join us this Sunday as we worship and strengthen our faith at 8:15am or 11am. You can also worship with us online LIVE at 8:15 or anytime at www.christabq.org

Ash Wednesday Worship - Feb 26th @ Noon and 7pm
'The Wounds of Blasphemy'
We remember that the wounds of blasphemy we committed against our Lord were laid on Christ on the cross.
"It is not for a good work that we are going to stone you but for blasphemy, because you, being a man, make yourself God." - John 10:33
Join us for worship this Ash Wednesday at Noon or 7pm, or join us online LIVE @ 7pm or anytime at www.christabq.org

Lenten Worship Series
'By His Wounds We Are Healed'
The innocent Son of God had no sins of His own for which He deserved to die, yet His enemies falsely accused Him of violating every commandment of God. In each service in this series during Lent, we will see that is was our sin, our disoedience, that Jesus bore in His body on the cross. The Lord laid on Him "the inquity of us all." Jesus suffered the penalty of death in our place, and "by His wounds we are healed."
Join us for worship during Lent at Noon or 7pm on Wednesday's. You can also join us online LIVE @ 7pm or anytime at www.christabq.org

Extreme Makeover
We remember the Father's words on the Mount of Transfiguration: "This is My beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to Him." We remember the brightness of Jesus shining on the disciples and remember the blessing we hear each week for the Lord's face to shine upon us. One day, Christ will return in glory to permanently shine upon us and what an extreme makeover that will be for us! Come and share that joy with us this Sunday @ 8:15am or 11am. You can also worship with us online LIVE at 8:15am or anytime at www.christabq.org
