In light of the Coronavirus hitting New Mexico, is there a way that Holy Rosay can live stream Mass?
Is there any information for Ash Wednesday? I can't find anything on the website and the bulletins aren't up to date.
I am writing today about a wonderful volunteer opportunity we have. I am doing volunteer recruitment on behalf of BCBS for an upcoming community health and Resource event for low-income families. This event is free for the community, information from local organizations and free resources will be provided. We will be doing free medical screenings, flu shots, turkey giveaways and more! December 14th in Albuquerque New Mexico at The Alamosa Community Center from 10am to 2pm. We are in need of about 100 volunteers to help staff the different family friendly stations where we will be providing a range of services including: ● Medical screenings and immunizations ● Health food giveaway and turkey giveaway ● Resource fair ● Kids zone We need the volunteers to arrive one hour before the event begins for volunteer registration. We hope that volunteers can attend the duration of the event, yet we understand volunteers have different schedules and some won’t be able to serve the entire event. We would love to have some bilingual volunteers as well, as we are expecting a very diverse group to attend our exciting event. If your organization would like to support this event, please send us an email of how many volunteers your organization can pledge. Together we can make a difference for families in the greater Albuquerque area this holiday season. Kindly, Corie Lyons 916-601-1828

Lecturas del día: Hechos 6:1–7; Salmo 33:1–2, 4–5, 18–19 (22); 1 Pedro 2:4–9; Juan 14:1–12

Morada

Today’s Readings: Acts 6:1–7; Psalm 33:1–2, 4–5, 18–19 (22); 1 Peter 2:4–9; John 14:1–12.

Dwelling

Although God was understood to dwell in the Jerusalem Temple, that stone structure was a sign that God dwelled among his people, his “royal priesthood” and “holy nation.” As Jesus explained to his disciples, he fully reveals God’s presence and is the means by which people enter that presence. As God’s Son, Jesus is God’s place of dwelling and the one through whom we will dwell with God forever.
Jesus also tells us that there is endless space in his Father’s house. Jesus, the foundation of a living and eternal temple, has room for everyone to build their lives upon him. This living, growing dwelling place is so vast that it is ultimately unavoidable: those who want to go around it can’t. There is no avoiding God’s presence, no hiding from his wonderful light.
As people build themselves on Christ, there’s the danger that parts of this structure will weaken. In the reading from Acts, we hear that some members of the community were not receiving the material assistance they needed. Once the problem was pointed out, however, the Apostles acted quickly. They not only ensured that help was given, they shared their Christ-given authority with others to prevent such problems from happening again. We must do the same. By showing others that Christ dwells among us, we will help them—and us—to dwell with Christ forever.

Light from Light

By asking Jesus to show them the Father, Philip reveals that he doesn’t yet understand that by seeing Jesus, he sees the Father. Jesus is the light who reveals the eternal radiance of God. Therefore, by proclaiming Jesus to the Gentiles, people like Paul and Barnabas spread God’s light across the world. They do great works, just as Jesus did. Spend time in prayer today asking Jesus what works you could do to further glorify God.

His Way

As Paul continues his speech in the synagogue, he reminds his listeners that people rejected Jesus. What happens to people who reject Jesus? If we expect such people to be excluded from God’s reign, we might be in for a surprise. Sometimes we forget that Jesus is “the way, the truth, and the life,” and we are not. Jesus alone decides who enters God’s Kingdom. Such final judgments are not ours to make. Say a prayer of thanksgiving for God’s great mercy.

Salvation Continues

Jesus tells his disciples to imitate his life of loving service, but he also notes that not all of them will. He knows that Judas will betray him. In Acts, Paul and Barnabas travel with a fellow Christian, John, but he leaves them after a short while. It is difficult, sometimes even painful, when someone close to us turns away from us. Sometimes there is nothing we can do, but sometimes there is. Have you had a conflict with a family member or a friend that you can resolve?

[05/06/20]   Today’s Readings: Acts 12:24—13:5a; Psalm 67:2–3, 5, 6, 8; John 12:44–50

The Spirit Speaks

In a rare moment in Acts, the Holy Spirit speaks directly to the Apostles. If we long for the Holy Spirit to speak clearly to us, we should note that the Apostles heard the Spirit while they were praying and fasting. Moreover, they had dedicated themselves to God’s work, just as Jesus had. Jesus spoke only as his Father commanded him and worked signs because of his perfect obedience. Our Lenten practices helped us listen to the Spirit and follow Christ. Do you have Easter practices that are helping you heed the Spirit’s call?

Speaking to Them
The sheep who recognize the voice of their shepherd include the people of Antioch. At first, only the Jews in Antioch had the story of Christ proclaimed to them. No one talked with the Gentiles. When some people finally did, their preaching was so successful that a large number “was added to the Lord.” There are people who will welcome the Good News if we share it with them, and if we speak with compassion and sincerity.
