St. John's United Methodist Church Preschool Plus

Accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) 5 Star Accredidation by CYFD

St. John's Preschool Plus has served the early education needs of the neighborhood and community for over 35 years, offering an excellent preschool program for children from 12 months to 4 years of age. Each one of our highly qualified and trained staff members is certified in both Red Cross First Aid and Child CPR. In addition, each staff member completes 24 hours of continuing education every year. Both part-time and full-time enrollment schedules are available. Child to Staff Ratio Ratio is an important aspect of the St. John's UMC Preschool culture. The child to staff ratio at St. John's UMC Preschool Plus meets and exceeds the state minimum standards in every class. The number of children that can be accommodated in each Preschool classroom is based upon room measurements. • Toddler Room – 4:1 • Twos – 6:1 with maximum of 12 students • Threes – 8:1 • Fours – 8:1

Mission: To nurture and support children and families, and to provide a high-quality Preschool experience in a Christian environment.

[02/17/20]   Construction Update

As you probably noticed, the roof construction and HVAC work did not start in January. Construction is now scheduled to start on February 3rd. The first project is the upstairs education wing on the south end of the building.

The roof demolition will be the noisiest part and I will let you know when and how many days to expect noise. The preschool will remain open. We will do our best to keep a normal schedule. It is up to every family to decide if they want their child to attend school on these days.

As the construction starts, the roofing materials and equipment will be stored in an area of the east parking lot. We are asking preschool families to park in the southwest parking lot beginning in February.

No school on Monday, February 17th

[01/24/20]   Mister Car Wash Fundraiser

Out of 650 tickets we sold 467. Each ticket was sold for $15.00; the preschool received 50% of each ticket. We are looking at $3502.50 in ticket sales. In addition, we had families from the congregation and preschool families donate over $500 toward this drive, which brings us to $4002.50.

I am excited to say this fundraiser was a success and we met the goals for the teachers to purchase their wish list items to enhance their classrooms. Thank you all for supporting St. John’s Preschool. We couldn’t do this without our families. A special thank you to Kathleen Goodwin who organized this fundraiser.

[01/24/20]   A year end statement can be provided upon request.

[01/16/20]   Evacuation Drill

In the unlikely event that St. John’s Preschool would face a disaster situation in which the children and staff members are forced to leave the school, such as a gas leak, water leak or suspicious package, students and staff members would exit the building and walk to the end of the east parking lot, a maximum distance from the building, and wait for further instructions. This drill will take place this month. This type of drill is a state requirement.
