The Landing - Copper Pointe Church - Albuquerque New Mexico

Giving teens a safe, healing place to work on their hurts, habits, and hangups...so they can learn to live a freer, healthier, more Christ-centered life.

The Landing meets every Friday night at Copper Pointe Church. We meet in conjunction with Celebrate Recovery, with dinner at 6:15 pm and then our group at 7:00 pm. We use activities, video, discussions...we learn to heal by DOING as well as hearing!

Mission: To teach and equip teens to deal with the hurts, habits, and hangups that life in this world brings... "The aim of the Landing is to help hurting teenagers get closer to Jesus as they learn key principles during a journey toward a better life - to move their focus on Jesus from the fringes of daily life to the bull's-eye of everyday life" - @John Baker - The Landing Leader Guide 2010

[02/19/16]   Read and. Repost. ( where you fig tree is)

Friday February 5.
Lesson 4 powerless 2
this week's lesson was on John 1:47-51 where Jesus alleviate Nathaniel's suspicions and doubts telling him he saw him under the fig tree and what God had revealed to him.

In ancient times the fig tree is a place where meditation could happen , it was the place of prayer and meditation where God and Jesus could engage people.

Students were asked three questions on a fig tree.
Their answers were informative, creative and revealing.

Question 1: where is your fig tree?
Answers: my room, anywhere, DJ booth, bed, driving, church, listening to music.
Question 2: What do you do there?
Answer: think, write music, organize, talk to God, draw.

Questin 3: How does God influence, interrupt, or engage you?
Answer: music, spiritual, spiritual slap. (grabbing our attention)

So many times we forget the place that God is trying to engage, influence or interrupt us . We forget the place that he's trying to communicate ,comfort or love us.

If this post has showed you the place that God is trying to communicate with you please repost and share with somebody that may need to know the the place God is trying to love them at.

[05/22/15]   Friday May 15. Lesson 18 inventory.
Inventory is about healing from the past to be prepared for the future that God has for us and requires letting God in to clear out the things that we struggle with whether they are hurts ,habits, hang ups, or addictions.
It's a walk into our past to help us be healthy to walk in the future with Jesus. Being a light to others.

=GOD'S HEART. OUR WILLINGNESS. =
This week we are working on inventory.
Ephesians 4:31 says" get rid of all bitterness. rage, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. God is asking us to let go and let him take these things. Not for the people that have hurt us, but for our healing. Also so we can let go of the harm we have caused and live the free life Jesus has acquired for us.

God has reminded me this week that I have to let go of the grudges I have against people in my life. Those small irritants that keep me from living the healthy life he has for me. ........it's not easy! But he is with me, helping me alone the way. Its not about my hurt feelings, but how I live to help shape others by what I am doing to forgive, to bless even when I'm not treated well, to bless when I don't feel like it. to let his joy be mind instead of my feeling or thoughts.
Isaiah 4:10 says "Fear not, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed. I am you God. I will strengthen you; I will help you; I will uphold you with my victorious right hand."

[03/12/15]   Friday march 6.
Lesson on peace.
Finishing peace.
Students were given a hundred thousand dollars to bid in an auction for things in life such as wealth, fame, long suffering, friends, money, and told they were representing God's interests.
After students spend their money on the things they chose they were asked a few questions.
Why were these things you bid on so important?
At the beginning we had mentioned that you are representing God's interest how faithful did you do?
If you could switch what you bought for something someone else had what would it be and why?
If you could give up everything on the list for something not on the list what would it be?
Finally is a fulfilling life the same as a garden life? What's the difference? Which is better?
If you look at these answers are you see that sometimes what we think is important to us ,is it really not so much .we try and fulfill our lives with things and toys and electronics that we think will fulfill our life but in the end just leave us empty craving something more. we sometimes learn that we also want something else that can't be explained, something deep inside us that only God can fulfill.
We also learned that sometimes after a while were willing to give up everything we have for just one thing whether it be to be loved ,to have a best friend, to be liked ,to have peace, God is the creator of these desires because he is the only one that can fulfill them.

Next the question of is a Godly life and fulfilling life come into play .we learn a Godly life is a fulfilling life because it makes all things possible in our lives whether it be having friends, to be loved , to have things , to be productive , to be wanted. all these things can only be brought to us by God through His Son Jesus Christ.
Finally this lesson shows that we must be faithful in all aspects of our lives, we are representing God in everything, at work ,at church, in the grocery store ,in our families ,out with our friends, everywhere we go and everything we do we are representatives of God and he wants us to live faithfully in that responsibility.

Love this lesson!

Friday 2/22/15. Finishing our lesson on a snow day.
Wrapping up the lesson PEACE.
Our lesson is the writings psalm 23 in the language of today's students.
"The Lord is my shepherd I lack nothing"
Student: God is my shepherd and I don't fear anything
" he makes me lie down in green pastures he leads me beside quiet waters,"
Student: God makes me lie down in green pastures he leads me right next to the piece of quiet waters.
" refreshes my soul guides me along the right paths for his name's sake"
Student: he takes away our habits and he gives us strength.
"Even though I walk through the darkest Valley I will fear no evil for you are with me your rod and Your staff they comfort me"
Student: even though I walk the dark valley I will totally like not be scared of evil for you are with me ,your staff comfort to me.
" prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies you anoint my head with oil my cup overflows"
Student: I set up a table for me because my enemies are here you give me life and strength.
" surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life and I will dwell in the house of the Lord"
Student: God will follow me through the good and the bad and I will pray and help me with anything in your house Lord(Church).
This rewriting of verses shows that these aren't the most correct sentences, they don't have the greatest punctuation, but they teach us that God is always teaching us through His Word. We all interpreted different, we all see it different ,and it speaks to us different, we are thankful for a generation who can help us be different . In a world where being different is looked down upon, thought of as strange and treated harshly it is awesome they teach us to be Christ in the world. Even when it is the most accepted thing.
