WOO-HOO! We celebrate the members of our church family who hit the case lot sale at Smith’s so hard that we had nearly 200 pounds of groceries (see photo) in our carts BEFORE the church doors even opened on Sunday! In total, we contributed a whopping 442 pounds of food for the Storehouse West -- that was our largest Storehouse offering of 2019! Way to go, WMCC!
Our pastor writes: "The great temptation in our scripture (Jesus & the demon-possessed man in Luke 8:26-37) for Sunday, Sept 8 is to keep the Word at arm’s length by saying: 'this reflects an ancient worldview – we’ve got medical science to help us now.'" Join us for worship at 10:00 am as Pastor Mark helps us see that in Jesus we have a savior who CAN change any life!
In Luke 8:22-25, a terrible storm blows in while Jesus and his disciples are crossing the sea of Galilee. When the disciples panic, Jesus asks them: "Where is Your Faith?" That's the very question that Pastor Mark will be tacking in our sermon for this Sunday, Sept 1. Our service begins at 10:00 am. We'd be just flat thrilled if you joined us for worship!
How would you finish this sentence: "Family is ..."? Maybe you would say, "the most important thing in the world." Or maybe, "my greatest joy." Or maybe, "a giant pain in the @$$." But what did Jesus have to say about our families? Join us for worship this Sunday, Aug 25, at 10:00 am, as Pastor Mark brings us the message: "Family Is..."
In Luke 8:4-15, we find the record of the first major parable that Jesus tells ... and it totally baffles his disciples. They are so confused that they couldn’t even imagine why Jesus would tell a story like this. Find out what this parable says, and what it says to us today, this Sunday, Aug 18, at 10:00 am. A nursery is provided. We would be just flat thrilled for you to join us!
Many of us have great memories of learning songs in Sunday School or Vacation Bible School -- songs that we've carried with us all of our lives! This Sunday, Aug 18, we'll be singing a bunch of those old favorites! Join us at 10:00 am for "Jesus Loves Me" "The B-I-B-L-E" "I've Got the Joy, Joy, Joy, Joy..." and many more! (Kool-Aid and graham crackers optional.)
Last Sunday's sermon drew more comments, and has had more views online, than any in recent memory. You can check it out for yourself here: https://youtu.be/0v7Yne3nr1A

All through Luke 7, Jesus has been doing amazing, miraculous things. We're startled, then, when the disciples of John the Baptist come to ask if Jesus is THE ONE, or if they should look for another. The word "imposter" seems to hang over their query. But instead of being threatened, or offended, Jesus welcomes their question -- but he also doesn't give them a pat answer. Instead, he tells them to think for themselves about where and how they see God's work being done. Our pastor is taking on this troubling passage in his sermon for Sunday, July 28: "What's It Gonna Take?" from Luke 7:18-23. Worship starts at 10:00 am.
Our culture - and often the church - is deeply divided, and the rifts seem to be growing. What does our faith have to say to this?
You're invited to join Disciples of Christ friends from all over the Southwest Region on Saturday, September 14th at Monte Vista Christian Church as together we engage the topic of Unity.
Our keynote speaker will be the Rev. Dr. Newell Williams, renowned Stone-Campbell scholar and president of Brite Divinity School. Dr. Williams will be helping us think about our historic Disciples commitment to unity, the difficulties inherent in appeals to togetherness, and what the Disciples of Christ have to offer a fractured world.

You will be blessed by the Lord of Living Waters!

The New Testament makes a strong connection between the amazing good news of Jesus' resurrection and a radically changed lifestyle on the part of believers. Our pastor will be exploring that connection this Sunday, April 28, in a sermon: “With Glad and Generous Hearts” from Acts 2:22-24, 42-47. Worship starts at 10:00 am.
