West Mesa Christian Church

Please pray for my friend Carleens daughter Kaylee. She's in the hospital with seizures and she's not responding and her eyes aren't tracking. The girl is in bad shape. Please help send many prayers on their behalf.! Thanks.!!!
My friend Ginny says thanks for the prayers for Wyatt.
So blessed to have friends from this wonderful church. Specially Dianne Goode and Ray Morgan. Always there for me when I need. Finally found a smaller, cheaper apt in ABQ. Looking to move middle to end of Sept. Less rent, I'll be getting a small car that works and "I'll be back"! Love you all so much! ❤️❤️

Operating as usual

In our scripture for this Sunday, Jesus warns us to consider carefully where our focus lies, and what we kind of "light" (voices, influences, values) we are letting in to our lives. Join us online with Facebook Live - this Sunday, Sept 13, at 10:00 am - as Pastor Mark brings us "Something to Consider" -- a sermon from Luke 11:33-36.

Our scripture for this Sunday asks a hard question of us: Just what's it gonna take for us to get serious about taking Jesus at his word? Join us online with Facebook Live - this Sunday, Sept 6, at 9:55 am - as Pastor Mark brings us "What Will It Take?" -- a sermon from Luke 11:29-32.

In worship last Sunday, our Lord's detractors accused him of working for evil and not for God. Jesus refuted their accusations, as he reminded them (and us!) that evil is real, and dangerous, and that in order to be prepared to confront evil when it arises, we must consider our loyalties carefully.

This week, Jesus warns his listeners to be especially cautious whenever they are tempted to assume the evil that plagues them has already been dealt with and that evil is no longer a threat to them.

Join us online with Facebook Live - this Sunday, Aug 30, at 9:55 am - as Pastor Mark brings us "Don't Be Dry" -- a sermon from Luke 11:24-26.

WMCC is honored to host the service celebrating the life and faith of Denise Williams. The service will be livestreamed right here on our page.

In our scripture for this Sunday, Jesus’ detractors accuse him of working for evil — and not for God. Jesus refutes their accusations, and in the process, he gives us important insights into our loyalties, and where our true allegiances must rest.

Join us online with Facebook Live - this Sunday, Aug 23, at 9:55 am - as Pastor Mark brings us "Whose Side Are You On?" -- a sermon from Luke 11:14-23

On Sunday, Aug 2, our congregation's food donations for the Storehouse West were 473 pounds. On Aug 16, we contributed another 244 pounds. This brings our total for August up to 717 pounds – which is up 320% from August, 2019.

Our grand total for the year now stands at 4,702 pounds – meaning that we have already surpassed our total for 2019, and it’s only August! Way to go, WMCC!!!!

Sermon for Sunday, Aug 23: “Whose Side Are You On?” -- Luke 11:14-23

In our scripture for this Sunday, August 16, the disciples ask Jesus to teach them to pray. Jesus obliges them by giving them a model prayer - the Lord’s Prayer. But then Jesus goes on to tell the Parable of the Friend at Midnight, a wild story which seems to undermine a lot of what his listeners thought they knew about prayer.

Join us online with Facebook Live - this Sunday, Aug 16, at 9:55 am - as Pastor Mark brings us "Getting Serious About Prayer" -- a sermon from Luke 11:1-10.

In Luke 10:1-11, Jesus commissions seventy disciples to go out in his name. He sends them out with clear instructions about what they are to do, where they are to stay, how they are to receive compensation for their work. He also sends them out with the expectation that they will be effective. What might Jesus be signaling to us with his instructions here? Find out this Sunday, July 5, as Pastor Mark brings us the message: "You're Going Out."

Our worship experience is available by livestream right here on Facebook. The livestream begins at 9:55 am. Worship starts at 10:00 am. We'd be honored if you joined us!

It seems that many Christians just sort of assume that Bible kind of ‘floated down’ from heaven, fully-formed, in English, with red letters, leather binding and maps and everything. But this is not so. The process turns out to be a lot more like the way Hymnals are put together -- in that everybody has favorite songs of faith and they want to share them with their fellow believers.

This Sunday, June 28, at 10:00 am, Pastor Mark is presenting a teaching sermon on the sacred texts that nourish and sustain our faith. Our scripture is Revelation 22:17-20. The title of Mark's sermon is: "What Would YOU Add?"

We hope you'll join us via Facebook Live!

In the cultural whirlwind over covid-19 and riots and everything else, our nation is in turmoil about how to remember the past. Whose stories should be lifted up? Whose statues should be pulled down? Genesis 21:8-21 brings us an “it’s complicated” kind of story about Abraham, the great ancestor of Israel. What do we do with this story? And what does what we do with it say about us? Join us online this Sunday, June 21, at 10:00 am, as Pastor Mark brings us the sermon: "Best Dad Ever?"

In John 5:2-9, Jesus asks a man who has been paralyzed for 38 years, "Do you want to be made well?" This Sunday, June 14, we'll explore how that relates to the situation that we are living in today as Pastor Mark brings us a message entitled: "How Bad Do You Want It?"

Once again, we'll be live-streaming this worship experience via Facebook Live. We'll start the streaming by 9:55 am. Worship begins at 10:00 am.

We'd be delighted for you to join us online for the joy of worship!

Glory, is this a great photo! Here's Ben Bock and Ray Morgan loading the last of 380 pounds of non-perishable food items into the van to take to the Storehouse West. This brings our year-to-date total for the families who turn to the SHW for help with groceries to a whopping 2,625 lbs. Wow!

Ray reports that the volunteers at the SHW were thrilled to see our donations -- especially the four 25 pound bags of rice. They had just run out!

THANKS to everyone who gave so generously!

Acts 3:7-8 tells us: “... and immediately his feet and ankles were made strong. He jumped to his feet ... and he entered the temple with Peter and John, walking and leaping and praising God!”

This Sunday, June 7, we'll continue to celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit as we listen for God's good news to us in Acts 3:1-10. We'll be thinking about routines, money, expectation and adventure as Pastor Mark brings us a message entitled: "Healing the Leaper!"

Once again, we'll be live-streaming this worship experience via Facebook Live. We'll start the streaming by 9:55 am. Worship begins at 10:00 am.

This Sunday, May 31st, is PENTECOST. It's the day when God poured out the Holy Spirit on our Lord's early followers. Join us online, right here on FB, as we livestream our Pentecost worship. We'll be hearing the dramatic reading from Acts 2:1-21, and Pastor Mark will bring a message entitled "How Can He Say There Was No Spirit?" from John 7:37-39.

The Miracle of the Loaves and Fishes - it's a story that is included in all four gospels, and it's the focus of our worship service this Sunday, May 24, at West Mesa Christian Church. We'll be considering John 6:2-13 as Pastor Mark brings us a message entitled: "When You Haven’t Got Enough."

We'll be live-streaming via Facebook Live. We'll start the streaming by 9:55 am. Worship begins at 10:00 am.

We hope you'll join your church family online for worship!

On Sunday, May 3, Our non-perishable food offering for the Storehouse West was a whopping 497 lbs! In this time of social distancing and massive unemployment, however, the demand for food is high. So we're collecting more food this week!

You can help hungry westside families by dropping off your grocery donations at our church this Saturday, May 16, between 9:00 am and 11:00 am.

You're invited! Join us right here this Sunday, May 17, at 10:00 am for our worship livestream via Facebook! Pastor Mark's message will be "What God Sees" from Exodus 2:23-25 & 3:1-10. He'd be "just flat thrilled" if you joined us!

Pastor Mark Denton's message for May 10 is "Instructions," from Joshua 1:1-9. In this passage, Moses has just died, and now Joshua must take over as the leader of the people. In this moment of grief and uncertainty, God speaks to Joshua, re-affirming the covenant promise to return the people of Israel to the land of Canaan, and saying THREE TIMES (because apparently Joshua and the people needed to hear it over and over and over): be strong and courageous. Worship - via Livestream, right here on this page - begins at 10:00 am. We'd love for you to join us! .

"You are a new creation!" That's the promise that comes to us in 2nd Corinthians 5:16-21. AND, that's the passage Pastor Mark will be focused on this Sunday, May 3, at WMCC.

Join your church family right here, via Facebook Live, as we listen for a word that can bring order and hope in a crazy time. We'll start live-streaming around 9:50 am, with worship beginning at 10:00 am.

In our worship last Sunday, the prophet Isaiah told us that God was about to do a radically new thing to revive and restore the people of Israel. This Sunday, April 26, we turn to the very end of our Bibles where we receive another promise of a new beginning as John paints a glorious vision of the new heaven, the new earth, and the new Jerusalem which will be the eternal dwelling place of the faithful. Join us online at 10:00 am as Pastor Mark brings us the message "A Brand New Day" from Revelation 21:1-6a.

Join us this Sunday, April 19, at 10:00 am, for a second helping of Easter joy! The Facebook Livestream of our worship service will feature our Pastor Mark Denton bringing us a message of hope from Isaiah 43:16-19. In this passage, the prophet announces that God is about to do something radically new and completely unexpected!

Storehouse Donations Total 295 lbs!

Wow! Our April food donations for the Storehouse West topped out at 295 pounds. This brings our total for the 2020 to an astounding 1,347 pounds!

With 20.6 million Americans thrust into unemployment in the last four weeks, the need for community food pantries is greater than ever. Thanks for your generous support, WMCC!

Christ is risen! He is risen, indeed! That's the good news of Easter, whether social distancing is in effect or not!

You're invited to Join us online for a joyous Easter worship on Sunday morning, April 12. We'll be live-streaming right here via Facebook Live; launching about 9:50 am, with worship starting at 10:00 am. Join us for the joy of Easter!!!

WOO-HOO! We celebrate the members of our church family who hit the case lot sale at Smith’s so hard that we had nearly 200 pounds of groceries (see photo) in our carts BEFORE the church doors even opened on Sunday! In total, we contributed a whopping 442 pounds of food for the Storehouse West -- that was our largest Storehouse offering of 2019! Way to go, WMCC!

Our pastor writes: "The great temptation in our scripture (Jesus & the demon-possessed man in Luke 8:26-37) for Sunday, Sept 8 is to keep the Word at arm’s length by saying: 'this reflects an ancient worldview – we’ve got medical science to help us now.'" Join us for worship at 10:00 am as Pastor Mark helps us see that in Jesus we have a savior who CAN change any life!

In Luke 8:22-25, a terrible storm blows in while Jesus and his disciples are crossing the sea of Galilee. When the disciples panic, Jesus asks them: "Where is Your Faith?" That's the very question that Pastor Mark will be tacking in our sermon for this Sunday, Sept 1. Our service begins at 10:00 am. We'd be just flat thrilled if you joined us for worship!

How would you finish this sentence: "Family is ..."? Maybe you would say, "the most important thing in the world." Or maybe, "my greatest joy." Or maybe, "a giant pain in the @$$." But what did Jesus have to say about our families? Join us for worship this Sunday, Aug 25, at 10:00 am, as Pastor Mark brings us the message: "Family Is..."

In Luke 8:4-15, we find the record of the first major parable that Jesus tells ... and it totally baffles his disciples. They are so confused that they couldn’t even imagine why Jesus would tell a story like this. Find out what this parable says, and what it says to us today, this Sunday, Aug 18, at 10:00 am. A nursery is provided. We would be just flat thrilled for you to join us!

Many of us have great memories of learning songs in Sunday School or Vacation Bible School -- songs that we've carried with us all of our lives! This Sunday, Aug 18, we'll be singing a bunch of those old favorites! Join us at 10:00 am for "Jesus Loves Me" "The B-I-B-L-E" "I've Got the Joy, Joy, Joy, Joy..." and many more! (Kool-Aid and graham crackers optional.)
