Celebrate Recovery

There’s a common trait among people in recovery, we keep coming back. Even when we can’t attend in person, we find new ways to keep coming back.

We come back to online groups.
We come back to accountability.
We come back to conversations with our sponsors.
We come back to Jesus for our help.

Never let circumstances dictate your resolve, and always keep coming back!

Log on to celebraterecovery.com to find a CR near you. If you’ve been looking to figure out how to temporarily facilitate or attend CR online, go to celebraterecovery.com/CRCR for more information on our Celebrate Recovery Crisis Response.

Celebrate Recovery

Nobody is immune from pain. Nobody can escape the pain that life can bring. Nobody, not even Jesus, is good enough to avoid pain. Life will bring pain to each one of us.

Johnny Baker talks about this in his book The Road to Freedom. And while pain is a sobering truth, it is also true that Jesus came to help those that are hurting.

Jesus said in Luke 5:31, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick.” Whatever pain you may have, Jesus can help. Reach out to him today and ask the almighty doctor to be with you during this season. Even with pain, there is still hope.

Celebrate Recovery

Recovery with Jesus at the center allows us to have a hope in God’s promises for our lives. The best part is that we get to cash in that hope today. We are rich in hope because he is always good on his promises.

If you feel heavy today, or the weight of your circumstances seem to be too much, try finding a couple of God’s promises and believe them like they are true for you today.

Here’s some to start with: He will never leave you or fore sake you. He is for you, not against you. You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you. You were fearfully and wonderfully made.

List your favorite promises from God in the comments below.

CELEBRATE RECOVERY!!! 😆

We are missing your faces SO MUCH! 🧡
Please join us here tonight for a live streaming message. We'll see you there 7pm MST.

Peace doesn’t come naturally,
the human default is discontentment and anxiety.
It takes a powerful spiritual presence to transform anxiety into peace, joy and contentment.
We can discover this state of inner peace through the power of the Holy Spirit. The scriptures take us to a different state of mind that produce feelings of health and wholeness (shalom).
All this is available to us who believe.

Stay

Be Still and KNOW that I am God.

Psalm 46:10

Composed (a state of mind)

I can be content in any and every situation through the Anointed One who is my power and strength.

Philippians 4:13 The Voice

Peaceful

Proverbs 1:33 The Passion Translation (TPT)

But the one who always listens to me
will live undisturbed in a heavenly peace.
Free from fear, confident and courageous,
you will rest unafraid and sheltered from the storms of life.

Active

Luke 12:35-26

“Be prepared for action at a moment’s notice. 36 Be like the servants who anticipate their master’s return from a wedding celebration. They are ready to unlock and open the door for him at a moment’s notice.”

Celebrate Recovery

Some of us were raised to ignore pain and heard things like: “Rub some dirt on it!” “That’s just a part of life!” “It’s nothing to cry over!” Others were raised to act like pain doesn’t exist and discussing it will just give our enemy praise.

Unfortunately, ignoring pain will stall your God’s ability to advance our recovery. When we recognize our pain, that allows us to have an honest assessment of our denial. We are then better able to see where we need our savior’s help.

In his book The Road to Freedom, Pastor Johnny Baker talks about his experiences with denial and how he had to face his pain. He goes on to describe how abusing alcohol allowed him to escape some of his hardships. Most of us are the same and avoid that pain.

Pay attention today to areas of your life that are painful. Take them to God and maybe talk about them with a sponsor or an accountability partner. Those areas may be the location of your next breakthrough!

What steps can you take today to move your recovery forward? Perhaps reaching out for accountability? Maybe consider joining with us today in praying for our leaders and our communities? Or you can attend one of the temporary CRCR Online groups while physical groups are hard to come by.

Visit celebraterecovery.com for the latest on when our gatherings may occur and how to handle CR during the COVID crisis.

Georgina Fourzan

Recovery is hard, but the work is always worth it. When we dig deep and press on, God meets us along the way with his strength and grace.

Let this post serve as a reminder that the work is not only worth it for you, but for others as well. As you continue to grind, continue believe that lives are being changed around and through you.

Day 28 of the CR Booklet includes a prayer for anyone who might feel stuck:

Father, I’m tired of fighting to stay alive, wondering if there is any hope for me. I am taking action right now, asking for your help and asking for the strength to pursue recovery. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Celebrate Recovery

We will stay healthier if we avoid comparing our lives to other lives. God gave us this life to steward, not your neighbor’s. That health, or sorrow, or addiction, or blessing, or peace, or joy, or breakthrough is not ours. We may never know what it took for someone to get such green grass.

Instead, we should fix our eyes on our own lives. We should be creative in how we work with God to find the greatness he has for us. And as we continue to water our own lawns, we can all cheer on other people with great lives!

We want to partner with you at Celebrate Recovery to help you live in God’s love and experience life to its fullest. Visit Celebraterecovery.com to find a location or a CR one day training nearest to you.

Celebrate Recovery

Certain holidays can be hard. But God promises that He will be close to the broken-hearted, He will never leave us nor forsake us, He cares about us, and He loves us with an everlasting love… no Cupid required!

Celebrate Recovery

Jesus was the perfect example of how inclusive we should be. All have sinned and fallen short, so EVERYONE is covered by His grace. Let’s be people who lead with transparency and never count someone out because their sin has a different flavor than ours.
