Celebrate Recovery

At some point in their lives, most people in recovery face the truth of their past. They grow to understand that who they were is not who they are... and certainly not who they are becoming.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” ‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭5:17‬ ‭NIV‬‬

We all have the promise of a fresh start. Some residue from our past may still be with us, but we get to walk in God’s will the rest of our lives.

Let’s spend our futures well!

Tasha Cobbs - Break Every Chain (Worship Together Version) ft. Will Reagan

I will often choose this song for worship on Friday nights because when I listen to it I think of the Celebrate Recovery ministry. We are the army, we are the body of Christ, we are rising up to show others the way out of the chains God has broken.

There is so much POWER in His name!! But we were never meant to do this life alone. You are not alone, we are here; most importantly God is here and there is freedom from any chain that is holding you back.

Enjoy the song, and join us next Friday at 7pm at East Gate Church to worship with us! 🧡

The Skit Guys

Yesterday, I (Eddie) lost my father figure. Plain and simple - don’t know how else to say it. I say it and express it with all due respect to the Bakers who are grieving their husband, dad and grandpa. I was one of the fortunate ones at the age of 20 to be picked out of a crowd to be a part of their extended family. To be loved like a family member and treated in so many ways like a son.
John Baker: “you know you Eddie, you apologize for everything. Even if it’s not your fault.”
22 year old Eddie: “I do? I’m sorry.”
John Baker: “You just did it again.”
22 year old Eddie: “I did?! Sorry. Ugh. I’m sorry..that I’m..sorry.”
John Baker (chuckling) “You did it again. We will work on that. Be gentle on yourself. You got this.”

John Baker left this earthly shell yesterday and is in the embrace of Heaven. I mourn. I grieve. I weep. The absence of a person immediately starts the kaleidoscope of what their essence meant to you. I got to see the 12 steps written out as they happened. I witnessed this man put together a vision of a place called Celebrate Recovery where people can come to get healed and deal with a myriad of addictions. Witnessed John writing these steps out that are like concrete today as they manifest themselves all over the globe and minister to 7 million people today. Witnessed John turn his life around and love on his family so well. So well. Witnessed him extending a hand to orphaned boys like myself that needed a place to come in out of the rain and feel the extension of a family and BBQ chicken dinners on Sunday nights.

John- my sponsor, my advocate, my encourager, a mentor and a dad. "Papa John."

Papa John, I’ve already said it to you so many times - thank you for loving me. For being so patient with me. For guidance. For the steps, for the moral inventory in your living room, all the yogurt round ups just to see how I was doing, for healing of my past, guiding my future and you coming to get me in the student ministry room at Saddleback in a near panic(s) to get me to the “big church” stage for a skit with Johnny for Ricks “point 3.” Of his sermons.
My life was altered and-guided and propelled bec

[02/23/21]   It is with great sadness that we say so long to our beloved Pastor John Baker.
Because of his obedience to God in developing CR, many lives have been saved and recovered from death to life.
Mine is one of them.

We will see you again forever family.

Celebrate Recovery

In their session on Codependency, Cheryl and Jeni Baker highlight ways to find out value in God instead of other people. When we find out value in God we are more likely to find success in our recovery.

“See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.” 1 John‬ ‭3:1‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.” Romans‬ ‭8:14‬ ‭NIV‬‬

[02/12/21]   It's our favorite day of the week again! 😆😆😆

Join us tonight at 7PM for live worship, an encouraging lesson, and small group!

We'll be practicing social distancing and wearing masks to keep our meetings safe. So, grab your mask, wash your hands and join us! 🙂

If you want to be more physically fit, you have to make the decision to start the process. If you’d like to retire one day, you have to take action that moves your finances in that direction. If you’d like a Master’s degree, you will likely need to enroll in classes.

The same is true in recovery; if you’d like to have God’s restoration power released on your life, you will need to make the decision to start the process.

“And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.” 1 Peter‬ ‭5:10‬ ‭ESV‬‬

It’s only after you make this decision that you can begin to commit all your life and will to Christ’s care and control.

Find a CR today and start your process.

Join us tomorrow night for another powerful testimony! Service starts at 7PM at East Gate church.

Please wear your masks and practice social distancing so we can continue meeting safely. 🧡

See you there! 😷🙃

This is a man who I honor and respect.
3 years ago God used him to change my mind about one thing that has helped to become who you see today.

He said "Georgina you changed the day you stopped trying to control your anger and surrendered it to God"

A true servant of God a voice for recovery all over the world, listen to his God-story and find hope in Jesus.

[10/09/20]   Join us tonight for an awesome lesson from our Encourager! See you at 7pm!

Child care is still not available for the time being, but mid and high school students are welcome to join us in the Landing!

East Gate Church

Our faith is about so much more than what we do on a Sunday morning. James 1:27 says, "Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world." In other words, God is pleased when His people reach out to the least and the last giving help and giving hope.

October is Domestic Abuse Awareness month. On average, more than 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men in the US will experience physical violence, and/or stalking by an intimate partner. According to the US Advisory Board on Child Abuse and Neglect, domestic violence may be the single major precursor to fatalities from child abuse and neglect in the US.

Abuse is never okay. We want you to know that there is help and that there is hope.

If you are a victim of abuse, or if you have been the abuser, we want you to know that Jesus can restore all things. Healing and restoration is possible. Celebrate Recovery at East Gate, Fridays @ 7pm, is a place where you can take positive steps in breaking free from the pattern of abuse, and where Jesus changes lives.

If possible, we encourage of you to make a donation to one of our local organizations that are on the frontlines in helping victims of domestic abuse. Local organizations like: S.A.F.E. House, Barrett House, the Women's Housing Coalition, Maya's Place, or many others.

Don't stay silent. Speak up for those who can't.

Attention! We, unfortunately, will NOT be having child care tonight. Unforeseen circumstances have come up, so we'll keep you posted on when childcare will return.

The Landing is still open for Mid and Highschool students. Younger children have to stay home until further notice. Please spread the news, and let other parents know! Thank you!

Yesterday's topic was CODEPENDENCY. Check out this great conversation. Learn the difference between this counterfeit Christianity, and a true relationship with Christ that will overflow into healthier human relationships. Enjoy!

Celebrate Recovery

Have you ever traveled in an unfamiliar place and had no direction? Maybe you’re driving and your mapping system goes out?

That’s the same feeling some people have in recovery. They aren’t sure which way is up or how to get on the right track. We have an enemy who tries to keep us in the dark at all costs.

But we also have a God who goes to great lengths to rescue us from the dark. He sent his son Jesus to be a light for us in any situation. Once we accept Christ, we then become the light in any situation!

And if that wasn’t enough, he breathed life into CR... a ministry that had already given hope to millions of people across the world!

Groups are opening back up. However, if you’re in an area where groups are limited, reach out to a local CR and join a group that is meeting online.

The number one reason that
Celebrate Recovery has helped millions of humans overcome their hurts, hang-ups, & habits is .....

Tonight !
Let’s talk about uncovering!

Georgina Fourzan

Often times people want the symptoms of addiction to stop. They pit all their energy into addressing the ripples instead of searching to find what is causing them.

Celebrate Recovery provides a safe place for people to discover their hurts, hang-ups, and habits. Not only that, CR goes one step further to equip you to uncover the root cause of the disruption and uncover God’s promises for your life.

Groups are opening back up around the world. However, if you’re in an area where groups are limited, reach out to a local CR and join a group that is meeting online.

Your recovery is worth the extra work of staying plugged in to a recovery community.

#CR #CelebrateRecovery #Denial

There’s a story in 2 Kings where Elisha was able to give God’s perspective to someone who had every right to believe they were outnumbered. With natural eyes, there was little chance for success.

However, when Elisha prayed for the servant’s eyes to be opened (v 17), they saw “the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.” Even though the natural circumstances were bleak, God showed them that in fact the enemy was outnumbered and God had them covered.

So often we forget that God has us. If we could see our situation from God’s perspective we’d rest easy knowing that more are for us than are against us.

God is on our side... and God doesn’t lose.

" ... Let’s be a ministry that strives to leave nobody behind!

We got this fam."

Isolation can cause us to feel alone, and months of isolation can cause our minds to think that nobody cares and we have to do recovery on our own.

But not in CR.

Some CR’s are back meeting in person, but many are not. Think about some of the individuals you have done recovery with and ask yourself if you should reach out to them.

Maybe you started a Step Study with someone and you didn’t finish with them? Let’s be a ministry that strives to leave nobody behind!

We got this Fam.

We're Here For You

We get it, things are crazy right now. But rest assured, even during this crisis, we're still here for you.

A great quote from a powerful couple of days at CR Summit 2020!

This quote from a 2020 CRCR Online session is about which of our thoughts we entertain. Many of us have a hard enough time fighting back our own negative voice, so it makes sense that we shouldn’t give other people’s negative voice any room in our minds.

Fight back against the urge to allow other’s words to negatively impact your life today! God is for you and loves you and promises to comfort you. And if it would help, look up Philippians 4:8 as a reminder on what to think about.

Also, people are still watching the Summit for the first time and discussing the sessions in the Facebook chats. If you’d like to experience the Summit you still can.

Because demand is still so high, registration is staying open an extra week and the sessions will now be available online for two weeks instead of just one! Crsummits.com

Celebrate Recovery

Sounds obvious, but it’s not always that easy. Hate comes in many forms and can wear a really good disguise as trying to be helpful or trying to enlighten someone else.

In the end, our best way to help other people recover is to get them to Christ’s love. Once we make the introduction, Jesus will do the rest. His love is everlasting and there is enough to go around for all of us!

Curious about CR? Log on to celebraterecovery.com to find a CR near you. If you’ve been looking to figure out how to temporarily facilitate or attend CR online, go to celebraterecovery.com/CRCR for more information on our Celebrate Recovery Crisis Response.

Don’t forget, we are having an online Summit in a few days! You can find more information and sign your team up at crsummits.com.

What is CR?

Celebrate Recovery is a worldwide Christ-centered recovery program. (Don’t run off too fast after hearing the word “recovery.”) CR is for EVERYONE! Relational tension, divorce, depression, anxiety, stress, anger, food, abuse, codependency, loss... There is no hurt, habit, or hang-up that is too large or too small.

We think of recovery as the sanctification process we all need to go through when we’re walking with God. Through our 12-step program, we gain the tools that help us learn from and let go of the past and fully surrender every part of our lives to God.

Celebrate Recovery is a true body of Christ where real-life issues are openly spoken about and no one expects you to wear the “perfect Christian” mask. East Gate Church in Albuquerque New Mexico is the amazing host for our Celebrate Recovery Group. Georgina Fourzan and Berto Villavisencio are the ministry leaders.

We hope you come to visit us! We’re at East Gate Church every Friday at 7pm (while COVID-19 persists). Can’t wait to see you!
