Long time back... I was there... visiting every sunday as an exchange student...learning about another religion... I wonder if people i met then...remember me today...my hosts were Rod and Fonda Kirchmeyer the year of 2004-2005. Hi to all... i miss those times. really! thank you for making it so memorable. :)
Here we go again. The homeless woman whom I fixed her wagon a few weeks ago called and let me know her other wagon blew its wheels. Do God's work when he wants, not when you want.

Presbyterians were so involved in the American Revolution that many members of the British Parliament, and even King George himself, referred to the Revolution as "the Presbyterian Rebellion." This Sunday, July 4, we will mark Independence Day with a humorous tribute to the Rev. Dr. John Witherspoon, the only clergyman to sign the Declaration of Independence. Join us at 9:30 a.m. MDT, in person or online at www.standrewabq.org.

Our Maundy Thursday Communion Service will be live-streamed on April 1 at 7:00 p.m. (MDT) through our church website (standrewabq.org).

Maundy Thursday is the day on which Jesus celebrated the Passover with his disciples, sharing a meal with them we call the Last Supper. The word "maundy" comes from the Latin "mandatum," meaning "command." It refers to the command Jesus gave to his disciples at the last Supper, that they should love one another.

Sunday, January 17, Quiana Salazar-King, of the NM Immigrant Law Center, will talk briefly at our live-streamed St. Andrew worship service, which begins at 9:30 a.m. (access the live-streamed service at standrewabq.org).

With the elections behind us, our prayers are that brighter days are ahead for immigrants. To that end, Ms. Salazar-King will give us an update on 3 particular groups of immigrants and the work that the NM Immigrant Law Center is doing related to them. She will be addressing DACA (Dreamers) opportunities that expanded when a New York judge recently ordered the Trump Administration to restore the DACA program. (Up to 2,000 New Mexicans may be eligible for first-time DACA applications.) Ms. Salazar-King will also address Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (unaccompanied minors) and the Asylum program, which the Trump Administration nearly eliminated.

If you cannot join us live, please view Quiana’s talk at your convenience at our church’s website (standrewabq.org).

Old Testament Scholar Walter Brueggemann names three "prophetic tasks of the church": "to tell the truth in a society that lives in illusion, [to] grieve in a society that practices denial, and [to] express hope in a society that lives in despair." Our country, which has been living in illusion, denial, and despair for years, needs the Church to fulfill its prophetic calling now more than ever -- to tell the truth, to help us grieve, and to offer hope.

Reclaiming Jesus in a Time of Crisis

This statement/video by prominent U.S. Christian voices dated May 2018 is just as relevant today following the recent events at the U.S. Capitol.

Reclaiming Jesus in a Time of Crisis The spirit has called us to reclaim Jesus from those who have appropriated, co-opted, and hijacked his name for worldly power.

When the song of the angels is stilled, . . .
The work of Christmas begins:
To find the lost,
To heal the broken,
To feed the hungry,
To release the prisoner,
To rebuild the nations,
To bring peace among people,
To make music in the heart."
-- Howard Thurman

From a Thanksgiving Sermon by Rev. Roger Scott Powers (Nov. 22, 2020): "Some of us may not feel ready to give thanks this week. It's understandable. The pandemic appears to be out of control; our state is on lock down; friends and family members are getting sick with COVID; many small businesses have had to close; millions of people have lost their jobs; and the transition of power in Washington is not going smoothly. What do we have to be thankful for in such difficult and uncertain times?" (Click below to view the whole sermon.)
