Crossroads Church

The purpose of Crossroads is to prayerfully introduce people to Jesus, grow them to be like Jesus, care for others, minister to others and to glorify God.

We have two Sunday Morning Services. Our first service will be at 9am and the second service will be at 10:30am. As you make decisions on how to worship, here are three ways we are encouraging you to be part of the Crossroads Church family:

1. Attend an in-person worship service at Crossroads.
2. Join us in our church parking lot and listen to the service live while tuned into 90.9 FM on your car radio.
3. Stay home and worship with your Crossroads Online family. The message will be recorded and posted on our fan page and website. Together, the people of Crossroads desire to be a source of regional impact for Jesus Christ. As a place of decision, Crossroads challenges people to take the next step in their spiritual journey with Jesus Christ by providing opportunities for people to worship God, grow spiritually, and serve others. WORSHIP: Worship is a way of life but it also describes what takes place as a community of faith every Sunday. Worship is an essential aspect of church life for all ages that gather together to celebrate God and to hear his Word. GROW: Spiritual growth is what happens when a person takes the next step in his or her spiritual journey. Whether in a Life Group or an Affinity Group, a Support Group or an Educational Course, Crossroads is committed to helping you grow in emotional, social, material, and intellectual maturity. SERVE: Service is what the followers of Christ do in response to God’s grace and love in their lives. Crossroads encourages all ages to engage in serving others in the local church, in our community, and in our world. When we serve others we demonstrate God’s love in action.

Today we're getting to know Pastor Preston a little more. Preston Smith is our Pastor of Ministry here at Crossroads. Preston and his wife Sydney have a son named Briggs and are also foster parents. The Smith family has a passion to reach the younger generation for Christ. They grew up right here in Albert Lea and Preston says, “There is something about your hometown and the people in it, I love being a part of what God is doing here, and to continue to watch lives transformed by the gospel of Jesus Christ.”

What is your favorite Bible verse?
1 Corinthians 16:13-14 📖

What is your favorite character quality of God and why?
Patience. There are so many times when His patience is what I’ve needed to be reminded about. His patience is beyond refreshing. In my pride, in my doubt, in my stubbornness...it’s the patience of God that provides a plan for my life that is far better than my own way. God was patient with me and made a way for me that changed my life, now I need to trust the plan He is unfolding daily for me.

This Mother’s Day, we walk with you. Mothering is not for the faint of heart and we have real warriors in our midst. We remember you.

To those who gave birth this year to their first child - we celebrate with you.

To those who lost a child this year - we mourn with you.

To those who are in the trenches with little ones every day and wear the badge of food stains - we appreciate you.

To those who experienced loss through miscarriage, failed adoptions, or running away - we mourn with you.

To those who walk the hard path of infertility, fraught with pokes, prods, tears, and disappointment - we walk with you. Forgive us when we say foolish things. We don’t mean to make this harder than it is.

To those who are foster moms, mentor moms, and spiritual moms - we need you.

To those who have warm and close relationships with your children - we celebrate with you.

To those who have disappointment, heartache, and distance with your children - we sit with you.

To those who lost their mothers this year - we grieve with you.

To those who experienced abuse at the hands of your own mother - we acknowledge your experience.

To those who lived through driving tests, medical tests, and the overall testing of motherhood - we are better for having you in our midst.

To those who have aborted children - we remember them and you on this day.

To those who are single and long to be married and mothering your own children - we mourn that life has not turned out the way you longed for it to be.

To those who step-parent - we walk with you on these complex paths.

To those who envisioned lavishing love on grandchildren, yet that dream is not to be - we grieve with you.

To those who will have emptier nests in the upcoming year - we grieve and rejoice with you.

To those who placed children up for adoption - we commend you for your selflessness and remember how you hold that child in your heart.

And to those who are pregnant with new life, both expected and surprising - we anticipate with you.

Desires of our sinful nature will bring us down.

Flee from temptation. Resist sin. Don’t let temporary pleasure ruin eternal purpose.

It’s the National Day of Prayer. Let’s make this day the start of a year-wide movement to prayer.

Prayer changes things. Even better though, prayer changes us.

Pray for our nation. Pray for our leaders. And pray that hearts would turn to Jesus.

"Devote yourselves to prayer with an alert mind and a thankful heart."

The Bible calls us representatives of Christ. We might be the only Jesus people will ever see.

We pray we represent Him well.

"But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light."

A Throne Forever Week 4

The world says this is who I am whether you like it or not, take it or leave it. Pastor Jeff reminds us that if you are a Christian, a true follower of Christ that you are not that old person, the old is gone and the new has come. You are no longer a slave to sin. You are redeemed, forgiven and SET FREE. There is now therefore no condemnation for those in Christ.

We thought it might be fun for you all to get to know our staff a little better so we'll be highlighting them every few weeks. We started off with Pastor Jeff.

After serving as Crossroad's Associate Pastor of Student Ministries for 4 years, Jeff was called as Senior Pastor in June, 2016. He and his wife, Jess, have four children: Brennan, Tenley, Macie, and Ronan.

✨What is your hobby/favorite thing to do?

I like to do anything with my family. We especially enjoy lake activities such as boating, fishing, water skiing, wake surfing, swimming, and more.

✨What is your favorite food?

I like food in general. I'd say free food is my favorite. 👈yes, he said that. He's thrifty, remember 😆

✨What is your favorite book of the Bible and why?

There are a lot of them. I really like Genesis because it gives us the back story of how we came to be, the miracle of creation, and the start of the story of God’s rescue plan through Jesus.

✨What is your favorite thing about Crossroads Church?

My favorite thing is the people. Since day one Crossroads has been like a family that accepted us, cared for us, and invited us in. We had people help us move from St Cloud, the same day we moved here they helped us peel up carpet in our new house, and have continued to care for us ever since.

Modern day: we might say kind words are like a latte. Delicious and energizing.

Your kindness to others is just as important as a workout routine or healthy diet. Your kindness speaks life to others and shows Jesus to them.
