Last week Our Savior Lutheran Church Alamogordo, New Mexico celebrated their 60th Anniversary! We had a wonderful service and a delicious pot luck! We also enjoyed some fantastic fellowship and great stories from the past 60 years. Our Savior has had a big impact on our community and continues to support local projects every week and month all year long. #goodnewsalamogordo #WeAreLutheran #GiveAlamogordo #adventuresforlife
In honor of sharing Martin Luther's Dream, not just the holiday, but every day! Ties of love and hope abound!
Prayer Vigil TONIGHT! In response to yet another mass shooting, we gather around the Pascal Candle and Font. Tonight at 6:30pm in the Sanctuary. This takes the place of our Bible Study. Bring Bibles, laments, and prayers. Please, invite friends. If you cannot be at church, please be in prayer with us at the same time. And then, may our prayers change our hearts and motivate our hands, and voices. Peace, Kristi
Part of the Epistle reading for Sunday - most comforting! "The Spirit helps us in our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we ought, but that very Spirit intercedes with sighs too deep for words." (Romans 8:26)

“God of compassion, whose Son became poor for our sake: Help us to see the face of Christ in those who are poor, and in serving them to serve you. Give us generous hearts so that those living in poverty may have adequate food, clothing, and shelter. By your Spirit move us to affirm the dignity of all people and to work for just laws that protect the most vulnerable in society, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen.”

"All people are created equally in God’s image. Jesus Christ declared God’s love by saying that God intends abundant life for every person (John 10:10). God chose women as well as men to be messengers of God’s promises and to announce the good news—women such as Anna, Deborah, Miriam, Esther, Elizabeth, Mary Magdalene, and Mary, mother of our Lord."

What does prayer mean to you? How do you pray? What do you pray?

This first week of Lent, we are exploring how prayer acts as an expression of faith, and we want to learn how prayer shapes your faith life. Let us know below!

Dear Lord, your mercy is for all people, yet we assume your promises are limited to a much smaller group. Reveal to us the wildness of your mercy so we may celebrate your abundant grace with all the saints.

On Ash Wednesday we received ashes in the sign of a cross on our foreheads. This simple yet symbolic, act reminds us of our baptism, when we also received the sign of the cross.

In the early church Lent was a time of intense preparation for those to be baptized at the Easter Vigil. This focus on the meaning of faith lies at the heart of our Lenten journey to the baptismal waters of Easter.

As we enter the season of Lent, we invite you to journey with us as we explore a few expressions of faith and how they guide our daily lives. Each week we will publish social media posts introducing and exploring faith practices, which will be followed by posts asking what these expressions of faith mean for you, especially during Lent.

Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from your presence, and take not your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with your free Spirit. ELW 186

Today is Ash Wednesday.
The sign of ashes suggests our human mortality and frailty. However, what seems like an ending is really an invitation to make each day a new beginning, in which we are washed in God’s mercy and forgiveness.
