Church family - Forever family in my heart! We will miss you all so much!
Just finished another awesome Zoom meeting with the awesome youth group of Adairsville Church of God!

We finished part 1 of a 2 part series talking about Heaven. This is a tough subject to discuss for a lot of people and truly it is a tough subject to study on. But we are tackling the subject of Heaven because our lives on Earth are short and temporary. The afterlife is for eternity. So it is extremely important to know where you are going to spend in eternity.

The title of the message is: Being Heavenly Minded.

C.S. Lewis gives an amazing example in one of his books from the Narnia series; called The Last Battle. I won’t spoil the ending, but he describes the conclusion of the book series and then states,

“And for us this is the end of all stories, and we can most truly say that they all lived happily ever after. But for them it was only the beginning of the real story. All their life in this world and all their adventures in Narnia had only been the cover and the title page: now at last they were beginning Chapter One of the Great Story which no one on earth has read: which goes on forever: in which every chapter is better than the one before.”

Indeed our life on earth is brief and is only the “cover and title page” of our eternal existence. Tonight we discussed on how being heavenly minded can result in 4 benefits in this life.

#1. Focusing on Heaven reminds of how brief our life is on earth:
James 4:14, 1 Peter 1:24 Psalms 39:4-5 are just some of the scriptures that remind us of how brief life is on earth. Our existence on earth is limited. It is but a twinkling in the eye of the Lord. The Lord, who is the Creator of time, is not bound by the constructs of time like we are. We may think that 80, 90, or even 100 years is a long time to live, but it is so very short compared to eternity.

#2. Focusing on Heaven prepares us for the certainty of Judgement:
There are some beliefs out there that state, “everyone is going to Heaven”, but if you look at what Jesus states in Matthew 7:13-14, where He discusses the wide and narrow roads, where many will walk the wide road and how few will walk the narrow road. Tragically the majority of humanity will take the wide road. Few people find the narrow road, in fact in order to find the narrow road you must do a spiritual U-turn, which is the meaning of the biblical term ‘repent’. There is no escaping God’s judgement. At the end of these two roads are a gate, that gate is called judgement.

Now since there are two roads and two gates, that means there are two different types of judgement. For non-believers that judgement is described in Revelation 20: 11-15. This judgement is usually referred to as “the Great White Throne judgement” BUT for believers in Jesus Christ the judgement that we will receive is described in 2 Corinthians 5:10. This judgement is referred to as “the Judgement Seat of Christ” and this judgement isn’t of condemnation leading to Hell, but instead it is an evaluation leading to commendation by God and rewards in Heaven.

Reflecting on these two things shows us that our time is short here on Earth and eternity is forever, and also that we will certainly be judged for that short amount of time on Earth. So, which judgement shall you receive?
Had a awesome Zoom meeting with the Adairsville Church of God youth group (Aftershock 2:7) We spoke on the book of Jude! Such an awesome book of the Bible. I encourage you to read it!

The writer of the book of Jude 1:3b mentions “defend the faith” and that is especially important in today’s society and world. We believers know that the Church is and always has been under attack.

So the question is, how do we defend the faith??

1. Defend the faith by Knowing the Truth:
— How do we know the truth? By study the Bible! If we don’t study the Bible, we cannot defend it. We as believers must understand the basic principles and doctrines of Christianity so that we can recognize when false doctrine/teaching is being taught. False doctrine/teachings can undermine our faith and hurt others.

2. Defend the faith by Growing in Christ:
— While knowledge is important, our relationship with Jesus Christ is absolutely essential. Through that relationship with Jesus Christ, we receive the Holy Spirit aka the Counselor, who is our teacher. The Holy Spirit allows us to be attached/connected to Jesus, which gives us spiritual understanding as well as experiences with Him that accentuate our faith.

3. Defend the faith by Remaining Unified:
— One of the best tactics of the enemy, who is Satan, is to disunify the church. It’s ok to disagree on the nonessential things of Christianity and church; i.e. hymns vs. modern worship music, for example. As long we as believers stay unified on the basic principles and foundations of our faith, we can fend off all the fiery darts of the wicked one.

We finished the Zoom meeting with reading Jude 1:17-23. Go check it out and read the Book of Jude.
Jeremiah Chase Sanders is in Scottish rite! They have did a spinal tap to check the fluid to see if the infection is in his blood, kidneys or the fluid around his brain. He needs all the prayers he can get. Hes only a month or two.
An Easter story for the kids!
Good morning! Before you get up and get distracted by the business of life, just take a few minutes to spend time with God this morning. Today is a special day. Today is the day we recognized as the day that our Jesus was betrayed, captured, tried, mocked, beaten, whipped and ultimately crucified for our sins. Throughout this day remember what Jesus did for YOU. Remember that the Creator of all things cared enough about YOU and loved YOU so very much that He sent His one and only son to die in YOUR place, to take all the sin of the world upon himself so that WE may be saved and have eternal life. And not only just have eternal life, but eternal life in His awesome presence.
Be encouraged!

Just finished another Zoom meeting the with Adairsville Church of God Youth Group! (Aftershock 2:7)

We spoke on Hebrews 10:23-25 and Psalms 119:89-95

It’s all about encouraging one another! Even if you are going through hard times, bad times, or despair, hold tight to the One who is faithful! All other things may fail us, but Jesus is faithful and His promises are true.

We all sometimes deal with spiritual lethargy or sometimes feel as if God is far off and unreachable. King David writes about these same feelings in the Book of Psalms. King David also writes about how God is unchanging and is still the same when He places the stars in the sky as He is this very day as we all deal with this corona virus. Know this, ALL things serve God. Even those things that affect us. Every single thing is under God. So as believers we should be encouraged that God is still in control.

Just remember those times when God pulled you through some hard circumstances and saw you through difficult situations. Have faith, be encouraged. God is unchanging.

Next time when you feel spiritually drained or inadequate, remember that you have a choice.

1. You can wrap up in self pity....

OR

2. You can draw your strength from an unchanging God!

God bless!
Just finished another Wednesday night Zoom Meeting with the Adairsville Church of God Youth Group! It’s amazing to be able to connect with the youth group and be able to minister and share the Word of GOD with them.

This evening’s message was about ‘Speak To Your Mountain’. (Mark 11:23)

It’s crazy to think that Jesus Christ taught His disciples to speak directly to the mountain and that if they had no doubt in their hearts, it would be done.

Sooooo.... Jesus wants us to speak to a mountain?? The answer is YES, because the mountain represents the obstacles in our lives. Whatever they may be! What mountain is in your life right now, this moment?? Speak the Word of God to it! Our tongues hold the power of life and death! So speak!

Not only do we bring our worries and troubles to God, but we also need to speak directly to those mountains! As a believer you have direct access to One who is bigger than any mountain.

Remember this. When you speak, God listens.
