Pleasant View History - Pleasent View Twsp. was at first a part of Polk Cty, and had its first twsp meeting in 1880. It is believed the first settlers came to this twsp about 1879. There is site know as Hadler (first called Wicklow) named for Jacob Hadler who came in 1879 and about 1901 helped to obtain railway siding to Hadler, so the farmers might have a merket-place for their grain. In addition to Mr. Hadler, other early settlers were: Lars Ness, Henry Eckhoff, Henry/William Griewe, James Preston, Lewis Weatherhead, Foster Flower, Wm. Washburn, Christian Ehlers, Carl Heibner, August Poppe, Fred Klausmann, Albert Boelz, Wm. Felske, Ignatius Mackel, Henry & August Busse, J.M. Merkins. Some of these moved away or did without issue, but some of these families continue to be familian to Norman County. A school house which was in this area on the old Flower homestead was bought by the Hubbels and given to the Norman County Historical Society. Only one church existed in t his twsp.
Immanuel Lutheran Church originally named "Evangelical Lutheran Immanuel Congregation of the Unaltered Augsburg Confession" was organized in 1888, a member of the Missouri Synod. Charter members were Martin Johnson, Wm. Wilkens, Johannes Wichern, Johann Merkins, Heinrich Eckhoff, Albert Treichel, Wm. Felske, Carl Huebner, Heinrich Tompke, Christ Treichel. Five acres of land was obtained from Henrich Eckhoff for a church building and part to be used for a cemetery. The building was constructed in 1892, but closed in 1972. Now only the steeple "Evangelical Lutheran Kirche Immanuel Gemeinge 1892 remains. It is a reminder of the pioneers who worshipped here.
