So grateful for my Georgia family—and SO humbled by the work of this church.
You do good. ❤️
Thank you Acworth UMC and especially to Hanna, Megan and Ruth. You are all so amazing and a blessing to all ❤️❤️
Hello my Acworth UMC family! I pray that you all are fine, healthy and as sane as any of us can be in this very trying time across the globe. I simply wanted to say I miss you all tremendously and you all will always be my family! May God continue to bless each and everyone of you. Love and Blessings ❤️❤️
Found this fellow abandoned in the stairwell. I demand one bag of Reese‘s peanut butter cups, two Sharpie markers and a Ge**er Daisy for his safe return.
So what exactly is happening next Sunday?
Friends and family of Acworth UMC and beyond:
Tomorrow is Youth Sunday!! It would be so fabulously wonderful if you would tune in to the link below at either 9:00 AM or 10:30 AM to not only enjoy the blessing of online worship, but even more so to support the AMAZING youth of Acworth UMC that have worked very hard to put together a fresh new worship experience for all of us. Our youth are the future of this church and we are so proud of them for standing firm in their beliefs and being fantastic leaders! They need our support! Blessings to all of you and see you tomorrow in virtual worship land. 😁❤️

At Acworth UMC, we have an awesome group who write cards to the homebound and persons on our prayer list. This special ministry brings comfort to so many. Just a special note reminds someone that they are loved and prayed for. If you would like to be part of this ministry, please contact Pastor Angie. It takes only a few moments to make someone's day.

Psalm 100: 1-3--Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture."
Sings songs of thanksgiving to our Lord. He created this beautiful world and all living creatures, including us. He is worthy of our praise.

John 14:26: " The Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you."
Sunday was Pentecost Sunday when these words were fulfilled. Jesus promised the gift of the Holy Spirit to the church and we have that gift now. Every Christian has the Holy Spirit, but we have to tap into that energy. It is like a lamp will not burn unless it is plugged in. We do not have the power unless we are plugged in. We plug in by prayer, Bible study, worship, and also serving. Every day on the way to AUMC, I see a church sign that says, you can't strengthen your spirit, if you only exercise it on Sunday. When we are open to the Spirit and plugged into his power every day, we are indeed spirit-filled. When we are filled with the Spirit, we are filled with God and filled with Jesus.
I've got spirit, how about you?

Psalm 23:1(NIV)--"The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing."
The Bible uses the term "sheep" and "shepherd" a lot. The people of that day understood the meaning. For us, it may seem strange to be compared to sheep needing a shepherd. Yet David, a shepherd himself, said, "The Lord is my Shepherd."
Why are we so often compared to sheep?
1) Sheep have no defenses, no claws, growls, no speed or sharp teeth. They depend on their shepherd to protect them. We are the same. Our protection coms from the Lord.
2) Sheep have trouble finding food and water. Without the shepherd's guidance, they will eat poisonous weeds and die. If we are left on our own, we tend to get into dangerous stuff as well.
3) Sheep are easily frightened. The shepherd calms them by singing and being near them. Likewise our fears are calmed by the presence of the Lord.
4)Sheep have a poor sense of direction. When we try to take our own path, we get in trouble. We need our Shepherd to lead us.
5) Sheep cannot clean themselves very well. We are only cleansed by our Shepherd, Jesus Christ.
I am proud to be a sheep and I will follow my Shepherd.

Food Pantry Day! Here's a glimpse of part of our loading crew today.
We start at 11:30 a.m. filling two vehicles simultaneously. The check folks make sure they have their tags visible so as they drive down the hill we quickly know how many families in each vehicle. So many of our clients pick up for neighbors and relatives that cant get to us midday. We are all blessed to bless again!
I am especially blessed my this crew of folks who have worked tirelessly!

1 Peter5:5--"God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble."
Humble means "not better than anyone else." Humble does not mean we agree with everyone or believe our choices and theirs, our religion and theirs, our politics and theirs are equal, but that as human beings we are of equal worth before God and we can live together in mutual respect.
Living humbly involves our attitude toward every human being. When we live this way, we truly exhibit the mind of Christ

Mark 8: 34--"Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said, "Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me."
In my devotional this morning, I read, "Every decision we make is an opportunity to step closer to God or step farther away from him."
Sunday we confirmed 10 young people into the faith. Hannah asked them ( & us) "Who are you following?" At first that seems like a simple question. Of course, we are following Jesus. But it is not as simple as one might think. Following Jesus does not just mean that we believe in him or even that we claim to love him.
Following Jesus requires commitment, even to the point of sacrifice. For these 10 young people, it could mean not being popular and maybe even ridicule. For many of us, it could mean losing friends or doing the right thing when it is not the popular thing. It might even mean losing our job.
Following Jesus is not easy but the reward is eternal.
Who are you following?

An odd day at the Acworth UMC Drive Through Food Pantry. Somehow we managed not to have a line of cars all day. Still, we served 180 families before the rain storms hit and 20+ families in the pouring rain. What a great team of folks who stay to serve the community dripping wet!
We have a BIG load coming on Monday around 9 a.m. Contact Kate Morris or Karen Norris if you can assist unloading the truck.

Luke 10 : 27--"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and love your neighbor as yourself."
A lawyer asked Jesus the question, "Who is my neighbor?" Jesus followed with the story of the Good Samaritan. Jesus was trying to make a point. Samaritans were despised by the Jewish people. Thus Jesus made a Samaritan the hero of the story.
The lawyer was hoping that Jesus would describe a neighbor as those living in your neighborhood and those that had the same values, those with the same background. But not so! Our neighbor is the one we like the least, those that look differently, think differently, worship differently. Our neighbor is the one who has hurt us or even persecuted us.
How can we do this? Look at the first part of the command. "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind." When we love God with our entire being, we can't help but love as he loves and to love whom he loves.
So, my friends, let's stop trying to limit whom God has called us to love..
