So grateful to see LIFE in this ministry!
This is not a SCAM OR PRANK- Quote below is from the Athens- Clarke County Police Department in Athens, Ga. Please post this publicly where possible.

Please be on the lookout for Kayla (10 years old) and Heather Unbehaun (35 years old). Both females have been missing since July of 2017. They were last seen in Illinois. Heather is Kayla's non-custodial parent, and Illinois authorities believe that Heather kidnapped Kayla and brought her to the Athens, Georgia area, and we have had some suspected sightings of them in the Athens area recently. Kayla maybe in need of medical attention. Please alert police if they bring the dog Peaches in for any care. There is an active nationwide arrest warrant for Heather Unbehaun for child abduction. If you have information that could help authorities, please contact Sgt. Dickson of the Athens-Clarke County Police Department at 706-613-3888 ext. 792. If you see Kayla or Heather Unbehaun, please call 9-1-1.

I stood, staring at the elder of our church, puzzled and a bit overwhelmed. Immediately upon hearing the words he prophesied over my husband and I, I thought, “God, is this You? Is this really what You want us to do?”
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
As hesitant as I am to admit, this charge from the Lord scared the living daylights out of me. After we had had time to process what the Lord had spoken to us, I couldn’t help but ponder on the instrumental role that Ananias had played in Paul’s story.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Ananias was a man that, before that day, Saul would have persecuted and killed had he had the chance. The Lord instructed Ananias to go and to lay hands on Saul, restoring his sight so that the Lord could use him to proclaim His very name to the Gentiles.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Ananias protested at first, and secretly, I’m pleased that he did! Yet, Ananias was steadfast, and obedient to the charge of the Lord. Because of his obedience, another was saved — Saul, who would become Paul. With great obedience comes great reward, not just for ourselves, but for those around us.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Is there something God has asked you to do, but you’re frozen in fear today? Maybe it’s changing your career, starting a ministry, or sacrificing part of your weekend to help someone in need. Jesus is inviting us to take part in His great mission. We will never know how much hangs in the balance of our obedience (or lack thereof). If we, as His disciples, remain obedient and ready ourselves, how much more can be done for the Kingdom?

It was Fourth of July weekend when we showed up to our family barbeque with a box of cookies. “February 4, 2016” was scrolled across the top— our baby’s due date. Squeals of excitement and hugs of elation erupted as our secret was revealed. It was a wonderful day celebrating the life within me.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Three days later, in the deafening silence of an ultrasound room, they couldn’t find a heartbeat. The baby we had celebrated just days before had gone to be with Jesus. Days turned into weeks as I grieved in anger and sadness. I would not hold my baby in my arms. It wasn’t supposed to be this way.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I imagine Jesus’ disciples felt the same kind of grief. They had spent three years doing life with Jesus, and ministering with Him… now He laid in a grave. They mourned his death, their hopes for the promised kingdom dashed. Jesus was supposed to conquer death— now he was given over to it. It wasn’t supposed to be this way.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Upon seeing Mary and the disciples, Jesus does not admonish them or ask them, “Why are you crying?” Instead, He says, “Peace be with you!” The disciples found peace and joy in their grieving because Jesus was alive— he conquered death as He said He would. We can weep over this world and the tragedies that come with it, and still have hope because of this same truth. We can bring our hurt and sorrow to an empathetic savior who has endured suffering.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Are you sitting in darkness? Do you find yourself wondering why God has forsaken you? Is your soul shouting, “It isn’t supposed to be this way!”? Peace be with you, friend. He has overcome. He has conquered the grave and is bringing light to the dark.

I grew up hearing the story of Jesus and knowing He chose to be near the unworthy, unlikely and unexpected, but some beliefs are easier in theory than in practice. Somehow I still imagine that if He walked this soil today, He’d choose to grab lunch with Beth Moore or Christine Caine over me in a heartbeat because they’re more worthy and He likes them more. I imagine them catching me eyeing admiringly from the street. They’d pity me of course, and let me sit quietly and listen from one table over.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Maybe your imagination isn’t as vivid as mine, or maybe you picture different faces at His favorite table. But I’m writing to tell you that the quiet little thought that tells you Jesus has inner circles is a lie from the pit of hell.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

When God tore the curtain, He ripped through every social circle layer and hierarchy of people preference, leaving nothing but complete access to Himself to everyone who believes. And He doesn’t just allow us to come close because He’s nice and feels sorry for us. Before you were born, God intentionally carved out a place not just near Him, but in Him, and He in you. He has the scars to prove it.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

This is the good news. Jesus doesn’t have an “inner circle only” policy because He only has an inner circle. He’s the same yesterday, today, and forever. And since He paid what it cost to demolish the barriers between Himself and every human heart 2,000 years ago, He doesn’t want anything to keep you from Him today.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

If you’ve been allowing other people’s gifts and abilities to intimidate you and paralyze you in fear, recognize that their proximity to Him doesn’t exclude you. He’s made you worthy and wants you close, so pull up your seat at His table.

No one thinks something bad is ever going to happen to them, until it does. Loss and heartbreak struck my own home when I assumed I was bulletproof. When something tragic does happen (and it inevitably will), it’s easy to fall into ruts of blame, guilt, and anger caused by our suffering on this earth.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Early on in my grief journey, I scoured the Bible for any sort of example of what I was experiencing. I wanted to find answers on how I was supposed to survive the pain I was feeling.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In the Bible, we see Jesus suffering and weeping over the death of His friend Lazarus (John 11:35). We see the Disciples distraught and upset with the news that Jesus would soon be leaving them (John 13: 37). We see Jesus speaking about the future trials and turmoil of this earth. He speaks about earthquakes, famine, war, hatred, persecution, and death (Matthew 24: 6-12).
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The truth is that not even Jesus, God with skin on, was exempt from suffering under the weight of this fallen world. But here’s the good news: Jesus leaves us with hope! I don’t know about you all, but I’m thankful for a Savior that acknowledges that this world is hard. However, I’m even more grateful for a Savior who is our Living Hope. In this world we will have trouble, friend, but take heart! In Him we have hope.
