In Genesis 22, Abraham trusted God more than he loved his son. Abraham held nothing back from God, and God held nothing back from him. Tested faith proves that God’s promises are not just words, but reality. What are you holding on to more tightly than God?

It wasn’t Abram’s works, acts of love or character that caused him to be justified, Genesis 15 tells us it was Abram’s belief in the Lord that made him righteous. Just like Abram, we can also trust in the One who justifies the ungodly.
Many believe true faith never expresses a shred of doubt. Theologian and BSF Board Member Dr. Mark Strauss, however, undermines this mistaken view by pointing to the doubts of Abram, the man Scripture points to as a model for faith.
Looking to confront your doubts by exploring the Bible? BSF hosts small groups who study and discuss Scripture together, chapter-by-chapter. Find you group here, www.bsfinternational.org/map

Adam and Eve's pattern of reacting in sin and shame is the exact pattern that we fall into today. May we increase our patterns of repentance as we draw closer to our loving Savior!

Sin. Repent. Repeat. Too often as Christians we are drawn into this cycle, but what if we could silence temptation before sin takes root?
In this week's blog post, Resisting Temptation When Willpower Won't Work, BSF staff member Bennett Rolan explores this question, offering Biblical steps, while addressing her own temptation in the process.
We’ve identified five common ways we can miss the point when teaching Genesis to our children. Be sure to avoid these pitfalls this year by reading this week's blog!
This year, BSF classes are different, but the same.
Different: online classes and discussion groups and the strangeness of the distance. Same: equipping adults and children everywhere to have a personal relationship with God and grow in their knowledge of Him through personal Bible study.
Also same: every week, young warriors in our class aged 6-18, meet to discuss the Bible, challenge each other and receive tools to lead in the cause of Christ in the world.
Here's what they learned this week.

We were immeasurably blessed to study the Bible with the 6-18 year olds that God brought to our class for the study of Acts and the Letters of the Apostles. They encouraged us, taught us and grew with us.
Join our children's leaders in praying that each student be rooted in Christ and grow in faith, day by day, during this break.

In studying God’s Word, the Holy Spirit is faithful to speak to all who seek Him. Whether God asks us to tame our tongues through James 1:26, or care for orphans and widows in James 1:27, we know His Word is “alive and active … it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart” (Hebrews 4:12)
Too often we are tempted to say, “I’m too busy,” or “It’s just too hard.” But when we willingly surrender our lives for Christ, “… having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love Him” (James 1:12).
bsfblog.org For years, Adele and her husband, Loren, sacrificed to serve the Lord. But, on May 3, 2019, Adele received a phone call that rocked her resolve. The Funk’s 30-year-old son Tyler, an experienced snow boarder, was in an accident that left him paralyzed from the neck down. Adele's joy faded, but God ...
"Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up."
James 3 describes the kind of wisdom that comes from God. How are you challenged about the wisdom you seek?
Authentic faith is God-given faith that reveals content, generates new life to agree with and live by what is true. Does this truly describe your life?
The new lecture on James 1&2 is available at www.mybsf.org. Download the notes, home training lessons, school programme lessons and much more today.

James' letter to the believers is full of tough love, but also full of hope.
He opens with this call: "Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything."
Not an easy lesson at all. But in this time, how appropriate.
Enjoy your study of James 1&2 this week.
This week and next, we're studying James' letter as we wind down Acts and the Letters of the Apostles. It distills most of the lessons we have learned in this study into practical pointers for believers in Jesus.
It's not too late to join the study of God's word. The James study resources are available free and for all here: https://www.bsfinternational.org/page/try-bsf
PRAY LESSON 28 🙏🏾🙏🏾 - Authentic Faith
“As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.” – James 2:26
🙏🏾Adoration: God, I praise You as the giver of “every good and perfect gift” (James 1:17). Nothing good can be gained apart from You. Nothing bad comes from Your hand.
🙏🏾Confession: Lord, please forgive me for the hurt I have caused others and the murderous desires at work in my heart because of my careless, angry words. (James 1:19-20; Matthew 5:21-22)
🙏🏾Thanksgiving: Thank You, Heavenly Father, that You know and care about every hardship and heartache in my life. Thank You, Holy Spirit, that I can live by faith and respond with joy regardless of my circumstances. (James 1:3-4, 12)
Global: Father, strengthen Your Church to be hearers and doers of the Word. Help us to see our true condition through Your Word and turn from our sin. Show us how to care for the truly needy, expecting nothing in return. (James 1:22-27; 2:14-17)
Local: Lord Jesus, please eradicate any acts of favoritism between supposedly “important” and “unimportant” people in my church, BSF class, workplace and social circles. Help me to look to Your glory and see people Your way. (James 2:1-13)
Personal: God, You are rich in mercy. Help me to delight in offering mercy to others, instead of wrong, partial judgments (James 2:13). Grow in me contentment, graciousness and a willingness to share the material benefits You have given me.

We've reached the end of our #ResurrectionSongs Saturday. No. 12 - No More Night, David Phelps.
If the resurrection of Jesus guarantees us anything, it is that one day, those who believe in Him will see Him face to face. There'll be:
No more night, no more pain,
No more tears, never crying again,
And praises to the Great “I am”,
We will live in the light of the risen Lamb.
Tell someone today about the power and promise of Christ's resurrection.
